epic

I heard of that drama, but can I get a full perspective? What will become paid, what will remain free? And FFS, Java 12 is already out, Java 8 came out in 2014 and by all means, it's time to EOL.

pajeets btfo

Strange way to write C#

>Java 12 is already out, Java 8 came out in 2014
And it's still Java 8 being used pretty much everywhere with newer versions simply being ignored.

For Java-lets, there's a multitude of vendors providing Java updates. Oracle is just one of them. Given this is Jow Forums, this doesn't affect you, you'd use OpenJDK anyway.

silence, Rust shill

Oracle getting desperate for money.

I think we're switching to Corretto at work, which is Amazon's distribution of OpenJDK.

kys retard, as if rust was any bit better

Is there a reason to use Java over C# any more?

> Given this is Jow Forums, this doesn't affect you, you'd use OpenJDK anyway.
Unifi controller requires Oracle Java. Good thing they update their software and other vendors use OpenJDK.

Wait, I was wrong:
> As of 5.7.x+ we only support Java 8. At this time Java 9+ is not supported.
What a fuckup.

Java is proprietary you know...

Mobile.
But hopefully people will migrate to Kotlin, which is pretty confy.

>java 8
>released in 2014
