Fast.com isn't the best at higher speeds.
I have 1gbps ethernet NICs on my entire network, yet somehow, magically netflix says I can upload at 1.4Gbps.
Which is physically impossible on a 1gbps NIC, so you know it's bullshit.
I get slightly worse results on speedtest, but there you go.
Yeah, because the limit on a TCP/IP connection on an 1GbE NIC is 945mbps.
TCP/IP packet overhead is 5.5%, so 1000mbps * 0.055 is 55mbps of overhead, 1000-55 = 945mbps of useable bandwidth.
Reality is netflix is just wrong.
Interesting, I didn't know that. Is that your home connection too?
yup
Damn $94 with all the discounts, that's nuts. How come internet is so expensive?
If I JUST got internet it would be $130/month for just gigabit by itself.
With TV and Phone it is brought down to the price you see.
They also try to rent you a $12/month router and Set top boxes at like $10 or $12 each per month.
My only other option is Comcast, which is even worse due to the shitty upload speed of 35mbps.
Same boat, internet + tv + phone is somehow cheaper than internet only. The only bad thing is having to rent the router but it's pretty inexpensive.
which speed can comcast provide ?
Luckily Verizon doesn't force me to rent a router, so I just opted to use my own.
And I can get comcast up to 2gbps, but it's stupidly priced. The only good thing about the 2gbps service is that it's a dedicated fiber run and you get a full 2.2gbps up and down.
Realistically comcast offers 400/35mbps and 1000/35mbps for similar to what Verizon offers 300/300mbps and 1000/1000mbps.
40€ for this in France is ok
Now do a test to NYC
Nice, about what i'd expect from an ISP that isn't retarded with their peering arrangements.
feels good
at least you've got low ping for gaymes?
sadly I don't play multiplayer games anymore
20€/mo
We have acces to peering stats and load within their network

It's the best isp I've ever had
impressive. I wish all ISPs were that open.
>no eligible near Paris
too bad
