imagine using computers unironically

THE quick brown fox jumps over A lazy dog

god I hate Chrome's font rendering and especially when people choose Electron to write desktop software in it, I fucking *hate* it

Imagine using Linux on your desktop

GNU/Linux*

*Just Linux

>AbcdEfgHijklmnopqrsTuvwxyz
>giving a shit about phrasing in fucking font sample

very doable if there was a text-based browser that actually had a javascript engine

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux"
distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

javascript engines shouldn't exist in the first place

but chromium is good user

good browsers don't render fonts improperly

who give a fuck.
its fully pledged under openbsd, gtfo.

Based Firefox Stylo

>lxqt
now this is the real issue

>Firefox is constantly experiencing memory leaks
>Runs like absolute shit on most of the websites I use frequently

It's not fair bros...

>VS code is chromium
>Atom is chromium
Freetards were right, vim and emacs are the only ways to escape bloat

something tells me you're full of shit

This is a pretty consistent problem for me.

I'll have like 4 tabs open and Firefox will be taking up 5GB+ of memory. If I have something playing in Youtube while I'm playing some game and I try to change the volume it'll occasionally lock up my entire PC. It fucking sucks because I don't want to use Chrome and ungoogled-chromium has other issues that makes it less than ideal.

lower the process content if you're worried about mem. And use ublock origin in medium mode with extra filters enabled.
btw, mpv+ytdl is infinitely better than any browser for playing media.
what PC and OS?

What did he mean by this?

>giving a shit about a comment on an Indonesian snake wrangling board.

I've got a 1700x and 16gb of DDR4 on Win10. I'll play around with the settings on ublock I guess but firefox is really the only browser I've been having this issue with. I'll give mpv+ytdl a try as well but I'd prefer to just use my browser. Unfortunately this doesn't cover the other websites I use.

Firefox is malware.

I have an XPS 9560 with W10 and Firefox works fine for me. What site is giving you problems?

*just GNU

I can't tell the fucking difference. Except to say, the yellow text looks brighter in firefox.

Youtube, twitch, pretty much any video streaming
warcraftlogs.com/ overall just runs like shit.

frogposter making shit up and posting garbage
fucking everytime

im a startpage fag. using FF is a nightmare for that shit thanks to version 67 or whatever that fucked up NewTabOverride.

No problem here

Attached: Clipboard01.png (1890x696, 420K)

Yeah I'm probably going to do a fresh install of firefox because something is probably fucked with it.

I'm terribly sorry, but I would like to interject for yet another moment. What I just told you is GNU/Linux is, in fact, just Linux, or as I've just now taken to calling it, Just Linux. Linux apparently does happen to be a whole operating system unto itself and comprises a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Most computer users who run the entire Linux operating system every day already realize it. Through a peculiar turn of events, I was misled into calling the system, "GNU/Linux", and until now, I was unaware that it is basically the Linux system, developed by the Linux project.

There really isn't a GNU/Linux, and I really wasn't using it; it is an extraneous misrepresentation of the system that's being used. Linux is the operating system: the entire system made useful by its included corelibs, shell utilities, and other vital system components. The kernel is already an integral part of the Linux operating system, never confined useless by itself; it functions coherently within the context of the complete Linux operating system. Linux is never used in combination with GNU accessories: the whole system is basically Linux without any GNU needed, or Just Linux. All the so-called "GNU/Linux" distributions are really just distributions of Linux.

t. Chrome Toddler

These are some nice fonts

Could be. You also haven't lowered the process content if mem usage is what you're worried about.

bamp

I can't tell the difference either. I use chrome because i refuse to support sjws ruining software.

Google is full of sjws, better pick another browser.

It's still running Linux the kernel on your desktop retards

>openbsd
>desktop

Get a better screen
Also this you retard

based lxqt poster

Yo fag there is a fix for this:
> chrome://flags
> Accelerated 2D canvas
> DISABLE

Attached: Annotation 2019-03-30 151430.png (1911x834, 76K)

doesn't work
this has to do with window size somehow
the fonts aren't always blurry, sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't
try resizing your browser window

about:memory
might help a little

imagine using any linux browser without hardware accelerated video decoding

Imagine watching videos in a browser

the alternative can't even render fonts properly lmao

imagine having to install a video player to watch youtube

Imagine not already having a media player installed

report them so

Attached: snapshot_20.01.png (1920x1080, 3.3M)

Imagine having a bloated operating system

they look exactly the same to me.

What? What does that have to do with watching videos with mpv instead of a browser?

BASED

look closer

I only use chrome ironically so im safe

Imagine using Windows 10 unironically.

It's a good thought, thanks.

>Reporting someone for opinions
typical numale

Emacs user here. Emacs has a shit ton of bloat, including a tetris and a birthday poem. Does that mean it is bad and you should feel bad foe using it? Absolutely not. Most of the 'bloat' it has is comfy, like lots of documentation and obscure functions to explore.

VS Codium I don't use, but afaik as i know it's a 'just werkz' version of emacs made so that even retards can use it. Yes, it's built on a fucking browser. But why shouldn't it? It takes advantage of that for web development and javascript evaluation, as well as it takes advantages of the strengths of CSS for the front end. Hell, it looks beautiful and you can copy and paste snippets into MS Office Word with the same style.

Bloat is dangerous from a maintability point of view and in performance-critical situations. Of course, you don't want everything to be bundled with a browser. But, if that allows for features you can take advantage of, criticizing bloat becomes synonymous with criticizing features. I don't want to change your mind. Maybe nano is all you need, vim if you feel more like a power user. But despite what arch+i3 redditors or plan9 fags say, not everything is bloat, and there should be a distinction between shit like legacy code fuckery (Xorgs) and code that is big but featureful.

>imagine using the best browser out there

Nothing tops Google Chrome

People from the double digit club will defend this.

Attached: chrome_tards_btfo.jpg (1000x432, 143K)

Why are your fonts so shit?

Attached: 134342342.png (1366x768, 171K)

Stop posting your blurry bullshit.

big bait

Imagine being a webdev using ubuntu with all browsers installed, but still have to ask your windows using collegues to test it on edge.

Damn, that's pretty noticeable.

Attached: fx.png (2824x2034, 1013K)

I literally can't even imagine it

Windows doesn't have font problems unlike linux

checked it on windows too, it's the same

>still have to ask your windows using collegues to test it on edge.
That won't be a concern very soon.

Looks fine to me
