also i think western digital may be in cahoots with eachother since they both release the same amount of data in the same year; around the beginning of the year; with seagate 1st; then western digital shortly after.

also western digital gold has been discontinued oin favor of western digital ultrastar data center HDD. in case you don't know. but i think you can use it as a home HDD too. they're just marketing it as a data center HDD. because i guess the market is more in favor of data center HDD than home HDD now. i don't know.

I think 1western digital, then toshiba, then seagate. I don't really know.
I think you should also lay it flat, with the logo facing up, and not move it. In my experience. It seems obvious. But I've seen so many times that it's been setup by default to stand up or whatever.
holy crap newegg is like 1000x better than amzon.
seagate skyhawk 14TB has 67 ratings on newegg. it's also apparently the highest-rated hard-disk-drive; out of all of the 14TB hard-disk-drives.

i don't know why these look 2 seagate skyhawk hard-disk-drives look different. so i just saved both of them.
maybe the 1st 1 is for a more professional application that needs the information. and the 2nd is to make it more obvious as to what it is. stylized for mainstream users.
or 1st is the actual and 2nd is a mockup to see what it is right away when you look it up. i don't know.
also i think seagate western digital and toshiba are in cahoot with eachother or have some sort of agreement; because all 3 keep increasing their disk-drive sizes by 2TB every year; starting at the beginning of the year. but nobody cares or talks about it. so.

again their seagate skyhawk is the highest rated 14TB hard-disk-drive on newegg.
followed by toshiba, followed by western digital.

toshiba x300 and toshia n300 are very similar. part of me wonders if they're the same thing; except marketed differently. ... newegg.com gives the x300 a amazon.com gives the n300 a higher rating and the x300 a lower rating
i think rpm may have flattened out. not really seeing any 5200 rpm anymore. 7200 rpm seems to be the main thing standard everywhere now.
i think in the past 5200 rpm was offered as a cheaper alternative to 7200 rpm. so it made pricing tiers. but now hdd has to do its best to compete with ssd; and ssd is playing with pricing tiers.

i'll write a little bit of the gist of it again; i guess... so. ... seagate may release 16TB 18TB 20TB before 2020 after all. not sure how western digital and toshiba will compete with it; or if they'll just use ssd's; and release low-end hdd's. then seagate will own the high-capacity high-performance hdd market. they still have a bad reputation; but a lot seem to go after it for its lower price point. they seem to market towards servers, but mainstream "normal" computer users seem to be fine too. probably because not too many use hdd's anymore. apparently. but a lot of networks or servers or data centers or whatever you wanna call it do. ... well relatively i made the mona lisa and this is sort of a smiley face. :). but. i hope you enjoy it. thank you.
... right. i'd like us to have sas. they have that for servers. but not for "normal" users. servers and "normal" users should use similar components. servers just put a bunch of computers together anyway. so they'd buy a lot anyway. tired of this lock-out ... so ... sata3 goes up to 6 giga-bits per second. sas-4 goes upt o 22.5 giga-bits-per-second. i haven't heard of sata4. not sure if we'll get sata4. we probably wont'get sata4. apparently. pcie 5.0 is supposed to go up to 4 gbits x1, 8 gbits x2, 16 gbits x4, 32 gbits x8, 64 gbits x16. so that's more than sas. but see any x8 ssd's going up to 32 gbits. i'm not even sure why sas has it; since hdd's can't go that fast. i'm guessing it's for some kind of 3.5-inch ssd system; alike seagate is making or has made but keeps secret from "mainstream" and only sells to "enterprise" users or something. apparently. but still. it'd be nice to have it. tired of this. ... that's it.
