Why should anyone buy 4k monitors - 1440p smartphones etc?

lol why would cloud storage compress images? the whole point of it is to store files natively without changes once you share them.

ur gay fuk u fagit

You do know it won't be 2019 forever, right?

SAGE

so buy the big res when its relevant, good goy

Yeah, in 2058 when there are more than 10 4K movies available I'll switch. I'm not throwing away thousands of dollars to look at the same 560p memes and 1080p porn I do now, on more pixels

4K won't take off. Anything past 720p is a meme - you can't tell me you can see a difference.

Most mainstream porn sites are moving to 4K, pretty much any scene from the top studios has 4K available already.

I actually don't like 4K in porn, ugly pussy can be hidden by low pixel count.

Because I do more than look at images all day you normie.

To save space and thus money? Most normies won't notice if their 5 MB PNG gets compressed into a 250 KB JPG

until the day that anime is produced natively at 4k i will not upgrade to a 4k tv or 4k monitor

typographically based

I know google photos gives you the option to either store unlimited compressed images, or use your storage allotment to store the uncompressed files.
Most people won't notice the difference between an 8 MB original photo or a 2 MB compressed version.

Ironically, this introduces one of the problems that digital tech was meant to solve. Subsequent copies of media are often of much lower quality than the originals. You see that when someone posts a "funny picture" that's a 240p version of the original with a ton of watermarks and shit plastered on.

That's how I feel when I'm not wearing my glasses (for distance).
Normal 20/20 people see the world in 4k, I see it in 720p. Good enough for most anything besides driving.

Mainly because of text rendering

>>as of 2019: 92.4% of all images on the accessible web were 1080p or lower
And? The image you posted isn't even deserving of 1080x1080, the artifacts are terrible.

Do you view every image in full screen at 1080p?
It looks a lot better when images can be shown in a higher resolution in their allotted space on the page.
It also allows you to have a large screen and not have everything look like crap on it, because with 1080p at 27" you can easily see the individual pixels.
1440p is the sweet spot right now imo, I got an IPS panel 27" display for like $250 I think.

wtf wrong with her nails

My nigga
Saves your eyes so fucking much

Who is this whore?

im on a 32 inch 720p, i noticed my mates was a 1080p soon as i looked at it from across the room, you are either blind as fuck or straight up lying

>1440p is the sweet spot right now imo
Sure, and what content is 1440p and how much of it exists?

based and redpilled

Did you read my post at all? Unless you view every individual image and video fullscreen, you will notice a significant difference.

Regardless:
You can play all your games in 1440p.
There's also a significant amount of YouTube content being published in 1440p. Most new releases of movies are coming out in 4k too now.

Was it this?

No it was a BenQ one... not at home right now so gimme a min to look through my email.

Nice
I feel like mid range ips panels get overlooked and nobody discusses them despite being perfect for daily use and programing.

Fonts are rendered differently in different sizes, so big sizes are not necessarily the best ones, e.g. Courier New looks best at 9pt, but not in other sizes. Verdana looks best at 12pt. Other fonts are unconditionally ugly.

Why downconvert ANY content except for low-res lulz? Shit artifacts can be fun as distortion in music is, but only when it's intentional. And fuck the copyright police for their contribution to the madness.

Here it is: "BenQ GW2765HE 27" WQHD IPS Monitor"

It's because many people here are interesting in gayming, so a 1080p 144hz TN screen is more appealing to them.
1440 IPS is amazing for web browsing, watching videos, doing work, etc. From what I understand, there's not much reason to go to 4k unless you're looking at 32"+ screens.

>92.4% of all images on the accessible web were 1080p or lower
the wwweb has been around for over 2 decades, user
>cloud storage, social media, and image sharing sites all compress photos and video to some extent - usually considerably so
companies save money by reducing bandwidth and storage, who would have known?
>Why should anyone buy 4k monitors - 1440p smartphones etc?
because it provides a crystal clear image for 4K content like movies, games or people who want multiple 1080p windows on a large display (graphics designers, drafstmen, software developers).
you asked why should anyone, so i answer enthusiasts and professionals would want to because it helps them with their hobby or job.
now fuck off

Agreed and even that is situational.
The cost of 4k gaming is not worth it with the shit tier fps you get.
