Anyone else still really like tablets?
People say they're dead but maybe there's just no reason to buy a new one.
My Tab S2 from 2015 is still excellent
>that amoled screen
>that resolution
>light as a feather and balanced weight
>4:3
>perfect for reading
>godly battery life
phones just can't compete
Tablet thread
Tablets are to computers as TV is to literature.
meaning both have their place and you can enjoy each for different reasons?
I have a nexus 7 2012 but it's practically obsolete now.
Sure, but you can't deny the former are purely consumerist in purpose and have no lasting value.
Tablets are comfy. wish I could get one with LTE capability without going through a carrier
funnily enough I got rid of my old Nexus 7 in favour of a Chromebook back in ... 2015? as I wanted something that wasn't just a 'phone but bigger'.
Chromebooks used to be blazing fast and did one thing (browse the web) spectacularly well, so of course they've now shat them up with linux apps, android apps and a partridge in a fucking pear tree and I hate it
now tablets are dead because they're not another smartphone market, so here I am complaining on the Internet about how nothing suits my needs. fuck this gay earth
enjoy that PWM flicker
tablets are toys
>tfw no 7 inch 4:3 phablet with decent specs
I only use mine for drawing, recipe viewer and Youtube.
My laptop and phone is useful for everything else.
t. iPad poorfag model
I keep thinking about a tablet or a cheap laptop, and i think a Tablet would fit into what i want out of it somewhat better - Something for D&D night i can do my notes on (pen would be great for this), reading comics, something i can take in my bag for mucking about on the train when i go on a trip, maybe games.
Leaning towards the new iPad Air or Samsung dex tablet.
I use mine every day on the shitter and in bed. It's irreplaceable.
The base model iPad works with the Pen. For your uses, you're paying twice the amount for something that's 0.8 inches larger and is more fragile, important if you're actually thinking about carrying the thing around.
I have an old Tab S but unfortunately it's absolute shit in terms of video playback support.
>iPad Air
You're better off just getting the smaller Pro instead, but with the Smart Folio instead of the Smart Keyboard Folio.
There are like 4 tablets threads... Do we need another?
I enjoy my windows convertible, because I'm spending a lot of time outside of home, but laptops are too big and lack touch. Touch is better than anything, when using a device on your lap or in hand. Once you go touch you never go back to touchpads.
But real "tablets", especially the android ones for normies are toys. Even there are no good android games to warrant having a bigger phone. I can imagine 7" tablets for book reading, but "media consumption" is for losers.
I've ordered a new Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and it should arrive in days. I'm planning to use it at school: taking notes, using ClassDojo and Google suite with my students, checking emails and docs.
Where do you shop for fedoras, my dear friend?
Only the finest Japanese brands. Now go back to watching your superhero movie and cartoons, normalfag. I need to make money out of your wasted time.
ps: don't forget to watch the top10 videos on youtube.
>see s4
>like the no logo design
>4 gb of RAM for a tablet costing 1000 dollary doos
Fuck I wanted to get the amoled screen but fuck paying this years prices for 2016's hardware
been thinking about an e-reader instead partly out of fear of the PWM meme (my only other amoled screen was the s2 phone not tablet back before they started using pwm dimming) and because most shit worth reading manga or otherwise is black & white
is there any choice besides kobo yet if I don't want amazon's big dick up my ass?
I see that you are truly an enlightened gentlesir. May all your endeavors be prosperous.
tablets are the perfect device for things that are a bit too painful to do on a phone but not worth pulling out a laptop
My shield tab is now way too slow to be usable, what should I replace it with? Thinking of Tab S4
>I enjoy my windows convertible
which one do you have? was looking at the SP6 or even the Go
Mi Pad 4
Hmm the Mi Pad 4 Plus looks very tempting indeed. Just have to decide if the slightly faster CPU, AMOLED Screen, and dex mode is worth the extra £200 over the Mi Pad.
I do use dex mode on my S8 occasionally and like it, but it has to be on an external screen. Think id get good use out of it on a tab
Legitimate points, yeah, i guess my problem was i'm thinking in terms of budget my 3 main contenders are the iPad ,Samsung Dex and Surface Go. And in terms of budget parity the latter two are more expensive so i needed up looking at the Air instead.
got a samsung tab A 2016 early last year, the 10.1 inches model without LTE. i use mainly for mangas\scanned books(kindle cant handle well) and media consumption, but for the longest time i used to wrote with it, putting in a 15º angle with the case.
It's a great device and can be well used if you have the right use-case scenario. Office word is pure garbage, but Excell and PowerPoint runs absolutely fine. My only complaining would be the software optimization on Samsung side and maybe the cpu.
Battery can last 4 days with wifi and gps always on and light-frequent use,and i wish i spend $30 more and got the LTE model
8.5\10 would recomend
My only windows machine is an Azpen x852. Best tablet for under $100
I use my Nexus 7 for a DS emulator, e-reader, and YouTube device before bed. It's pretty comfy.
>LCD
>perfect for reading
That's a YIKES! from me, senpai.
The Air is literally just the 2017 10.5" Pro except with a worse display and camera.
If you can find a 2017 10.5" iPad Pro, get that instead. It'll probably be the same price as a brand new Air.
