I used to be obsessed with (Terminal) Dosis.
I mainly use Open Sans or Noto now.
I really hate the new Noto Color Emoji, so I use Blobmoji or Twemoji for that set.
What's a good serif font? I just use Times New Roman simply because it's the default.

for moon runes mplus is pretty nice
chink looks nice
Based user. Best one I've tried so far, I'd say it's comparable to noto. Got any other recommendations?
for desktop use i like dejavu.
dejavu sans semi-condensed
dejavu serif semi-condensed
dejavu sans mono
for documents and web i like the omnibus press series, or anything from omnibus really. faustina medium is a lovely, chubby, serif font a step above charter. i don't like the sans-serif lowercase 'g' in any of their fonts, though.
>IBM Plex
IBM has so many good fonts.
why are the argies so good at type design? i noticed it everywhere i went when i was there.

How can I combine two fonts into one ttf or whatever format?
Times New Roman is like the Corolla of serif fonts. It gets the job done, it's decent enough, but it isn't the greatest. I personally prefer Georgia, I find it's easier to read both on screen and on paper. Unfortunately it's not available on Linux, so when you're reading Georgia on a Linux machine, it just defaults to Times New Roman. When I was in university I also started using Garamond mainly because I was able to fit more text onto a page. But over time it grew on me for other reasons. I don't necessarily find it easier to read than TNR, but it is more aesthetically pleasing.
I personally really don't like the shift to sans-serif fonts that started with Office 2007. They look good as headings, but they don't seem as easy to read in a body of text.
I like this sans-serif font though.

Cambria
Roboto and its derivatives.
why do every font i download look like absolute goddamn shit in Word while they look beautiful and smooth in the web preview and even when installing them in the fonts folder preview?
Comic Sans😃
Lucida Sans Unicode.
my picks:
Tahoma (the least ostentatious font. it just blends the fuck in)
Terminus (pixel perfect monospace)
Carlito (beautiful sans, but i particularly love its numerals. the same designer did lato, which has comprehesive support for glyphs of european languages)
Cantarell (underrated due to its default use in gnome shell)
>Plex
>Liberation
two excellent font families
liberation is a beautiful serif, designed to be metrically compatible with times, but very distinct and idiosyncratic. but you cant go wrong with a garamond, caslon, or computer modern for printed text.
another great font
same as with tahoma, an excellent workhorse font.
im not as big a fan of the fluting/uneven stroke width on segoe
dejavu i undestand is popular due to its similarity to whatever the macos monospace font is, but i just loathe font blurring on CLI interfaces. if it comes down to it, id rather use ubuntu or plex over dejavu
Franklin Gothic and Futura are two of my favoites due to their art deco aesthetic, but there arent many instances where they are suitable for computer interfaces (Titlebars?)
eras is pig disgusting, and i have never understood the appeal of helvetica. ive always felt that its glyphs are too wide and geometrical, and SF has improved things immensely, at the cost of making the font uncomfortably like a didone for my tastes.
comic fucking sans
Anything off the x11 bitmap font github collection is great.

Tewi will always stay the best though
>tfw eyelet
tewi is great but i just cant fucking read it
Even if you were an eyechad, using it would make you become an eyelet. So don't be sad.
It isn't so bad to use on a terminal with a low resolution screen.
comfy as fuck
Iosevka for code.
Roboto for everything else.
Word newer than 2010 has shit font rendering
I used to use inconsolata but nowadays I am enjoying office code pro
I think Cambria is undappreciated because it's like the default Windows serif font. I really like it.
Unironically the Ubuntu fonts

This is what I use on my Linux distro and Windows. I was surprised that I had to install it on Windows. I had assumed (incorrectly) that is was standard.
