I've just found out my cpu fan isnt spinning again. About a month ago I had to take the fan apart and re grease it because the lube had turned into this tacky substance.
Its probably time for a new one huh?

How the fuck are you still using that?

Huh?

Don't blame me for buying 4266 RAM I'm too lazy
I only play one game from 1999 and edit websites with this machine

poorfag. but i did well for almost no money invested

Attached: speccy march 2019.png (752x573, 36K)

What did this cost? If you would invest ~80 € for some used RX 470 or better your system would be halfway decent. Unless you don't game.

Does it have a SSD, they cost only 20 € new now. Those Crucial BX series suffice for desktop and office use.

*cracksips*

Ahh, the Pentium 4 killer.

Attached: speccy2019march.png (752x555, 38K)

literally $30 CAD on the 645 GTX and i optionally added my 500w Antec PSU that was collecting dust, but wasnt necessary. the rest was hand me down and salvage.

im gonna swap the Fujitsu with an SSD (kingston 120gb) soon, as now i can get $1 shipping on NewEgg Canada

That's still nice as fuck for an ultimate 2010 AMD rig.

I got the board and cpu for $50 from tigerdirect eons ago in some weird sale thing they had. It still plays everything modern, games and all. I just don't play games anymore. I think I lucked out. The only problem I ever had was losing one RAM chip and never needed to replace it.

I build someone a similar rig for about 120 €. It has a HD 7970, the absolute ultimate of 2011. It still runs games on medium, the CPU is a bigger bottleneck than the GPU.

Attached: 1529910561443.png (640x577, 76K)

7970 is a monster of a card, overclock it a good amount and it's better than dual GTX 580 cards that competed with it before the 600 cards from Nvidia came out.

yeehaw

Attached: ZdWJw0n.png (1310x897, 66K)

I undervolted it so the PSU will not turn off. The CPU is undervolted and overclocked too.

mah nigga still rocking an i5-3570k

is Specy CPU temp reader even accurate because if it is dem my CPU is hot as fuck on idle loads (its below 30 on Afterburners)

speccy sucks with amd cpu temps and some more modern hardware makes it shit it's self

whats wrong with you

I see thanks for that as I never use Speccy

>that OG 1366 laptop from 2010
Surprised you still have that, my 1366 2010 hp laptop with the turion II died in late 2013 from overheating, fan burnt out from 100% speed and i just parted it out.

I bought a Arctic MX-2 thermal compund for my laptops about a year ago (after a chink shit paste did nothing), works like charm. I use this mad max for about a year now, no problems. GPU is shit, but it's okay for me.

My previous "beast" is a nastier one (image above), it was like a toaster (especially at summer) with the old paste. With MX-2 it is much better now.

Attached: speccy_MSI-EX610.png (696x424, 128K)

That's actually nice for 2007 or so, I should've repasted my Pavilion DV6-3010us, but I wasn't into pc building like I am now.

RIP Pavilion beast, it had good specs. I used cheap pastes for around 4-5 years (shame on me). I cleaned that old MSI beast every two months, it eats dust with two spoons. Literally :D

Neofetch or inxi.

>GTX 1080 with that board
Damn bruh, Intel socket 2011 with Haslel/Broadlel-E was fantastic compared to their 2066/3647 garbage they have now.

X99 was truly the last good HEDT.

I don't have speccu :(

>577MHz RAM
You running a 216 bus on that 6300? It's a pretty decent 2013 budget gaming FX rig, a 7970 would be a nice card for it but at least you've got a 3GB kepler.

Attached: 1.jpg (1600x1200, 176K)

Currently stock, I had it running 4,5ghz at one point, but I haven't messed around too much with OC'ing as I never had any real reason to. I had gtx 660 for long time(around 2012 to until few months ago) until I bought used, cheap gtx 780, for my use its perfect and nice upgrade(until I do complete new build, but not anytime soon).

Ram is eh, I literally found some extra 2gb ram sticks when cleaning I just threw them in. The better/4gb ones are 800mhz and 2gb ones are 667mhz so there is bit of an bottleneck but in reality I only have noticed the benefit from having more ram, and everything seems to run no problem.

>cheap gtx 780
I did the same thing with my 7970, bought it used last October for 80 dollars, and FX chips don't care about how slow and crappy the ram is because they're based like that.

Attached: RAM benchmarks.png (1694x1200, 266K)

ryzen + speccy = retarded temp reads

toasty cpu because factorio

Attached: jxddimFYjy.jpg (3840x1080, 692K)

Replacing the i7 with a E5-2680 v2 next.
After that the only upgrades I would make are GPU and screen-related.
I'd prefer a E5-1680 v2, but those are $500CAD and the 2680 v2 was free.

>Dual U2412M
That's a fuckin display right there.

What CPU should I buy, and also, will I get more performance from another 8gb of ram or an SSD?

Attached: 1534509619314.png (660x525, 60K)

are you using a stock cooler or you just a lazy fat weeb?

Yeah he's using a Dell XPS or Optiplex with a stock cooler.

>8gb of ram
only when multitasking, maybe little boost on some games, but dont expect miracles
>an SSD
much faster loading times and snappier windows, but you wont get more FPS
>What CPU should I buy
well anything would be huge improvement over your pentium, you could buy i3 or even better i5 depending on your budget(that your mobo supports, do your research).

but if you are looking more performance, you should upgrade in this order: cpu>gpu>ssd>ram.

why would you swap for an e5-2680?
It will be a straight downgrade.
>higher core count
>but much much lower base frequency
>lower oc potential
>Generally slower in work loads
>Worse for vidya gaymz if thats ya thing
>Only real use is for a server
At least it can take a bunch of ECC memory, up 384gb if you have the proper board

Noctua D15s with 2fans & on standard settings.

Attached: Speccy.2019.4.2.jpg (734x518, 57K)

>higher core count but much much lower base frequency
That would've sucked for daily use back when it was made but ryzen has pushed us into the future of moar cores and multi threaded stuff, to the point where X58 is a joke if you're not rocking a 6 core Xeon in it, FX 8 core chips that were garbage are now better than 4 core 4 thread i5s and shit like that.

TLDR; Computers are changing and you need moar cores.

rate my dinosaur

>990FXA-UD3
>Dinosaur
That's a beautiful as fuck board, user. Maybe if you got two more 4 gig sticks for 16 she'd really kick ass, cause you've got a bitchin card and storage. It seems my FX8350 rig doesn't care about the speed of the ram, but having 16GB makes it fast as fuck on cinebench compared to other's benches with the same clocks.

Attached: IMG_0053.jpg (3024x4032, 2.04M)

Can't wait till I finish installing Ubuntu on a new rig to screenfetch to speccy thread!

Attached: 1554234554545.jpg (300x325, 32K)

Just picked up a 1080 ti for $400

Attached: Speccy.png (657x523, 52K)

I called it a dinosaur because I assembled it like 8 years ago. I only recently upgraded the video card and stuck an SSD in, and I'm surprised how well it can still run things.

FX-8350 is no joke in software that use 8 threads, I'm running a 4.2GHz bus overclock with 1960MHz memory on all stock voltages (Medium LLC set on the UD3 to keep consistent 1.35 Vcore), and it's really good.

Attached: Untitled.png (425x831, 132K)

the i7-3970x is a 6 core cpu retard and will outperform any x58 xeon

My dude, my point isn't about how much better X79 is, but that a 4 core, 8 threaded chip is not gonna cut it in modern games compared to a 6C/12T that you need to put on an old X58 board to make it relevant because moar cores is the future, and his choice of "upgrading" to a xeon with a bunch of slower cores is not a dumb idea if the multicore performance is significantly better.

My 3970X has some problems. Won't hit much higher than 3.8GHz all cores stable. Can't even turn on turbo mode and auto without a recurring crash problem. This is under water. Don't know what's up with that, but it seems to be a pretty hard limit.
Meanwhile the 2680 v2:
Has PCIe 3.0 support
Hits 3.9 turbo stable on air
Outright beats the 3970X in single thread benchmarks

I expected it to at least lose on that last one; but no. It is in every measurable way better.

The locked multiplier on the 2680v2 is a pita. I need to use Turbo Boost and the bclk to overclock it, so things are less than ideal, but It is what it is.
The 1680v2 is the 8 core variant of the 4960X, the 2680v2 specs as "kind of" a 10 core variant, except because it is for dual CPU boards the multiplier is locked and it has some additional weirdness for those extra cores and interconnects.
Also that extra cache probably helps things a bit..

am a poorfag. job interview tomorrow tho!

my pc is literally just parts scrapped from all over. my ram is mismatched, i'm in some ass dell case, etc. whenever i encounter scrap parts i just swap in whatever seems like an improvement to what is in place. if it's mostly compatible, it stays

Attached: IMG_20190129_135121_downscale.jpg (1872x2496, 2.06M)

You should get a 1060 for that piece, a locked 4770 is still a strong ass cpu, I'd suggest a 7970 or some other used high end R9 card for cheap but that's only a CX500.

If you don't have an SSD yet, you really should get one. They are really cheap right now. And you can reuse them in any other build later.

i was given a used 120gb one! it is super handy i like it
oshit
capping for when i have money ty pup

Thanks.

Too old to run Speccy

Attached: CPU.png (800x600, 190K)

That case wouldn't happen to be a Dell Inspiron case, like an Inspiron 530? The way the hard drive is mounted is exactly the same.

Impressive. Even on eBay they're all over $500.

Honestly speccy is about the extent of my fun with this computer.

Growing up was a mistake.

Attached: speccy.png (1063x639, 30K)

With older speccy, I had success

Yeah I know, I saw it on my local CL and snagged it up asap!
