For the most part, I think the "do one thing and do it well" is a good philosophy, but lines aren't that cut and dry on what "one thing" is.
Unless it inhibits my production, but I try to keep it as lean as possible. It just happens by chance I generally prefer minimalist programs.

Vim with some plugs.

IDE for tweakables where i need instant direct feedback. Otherwise editor+compiler with a linter.

DOTADIW? Absolutely (just be careful of software antipatterns).

Software pragmatists, minimalists are pretentious faggots with no jobs, life, or purpose.

I use what works. If that happens to be Free then that's fantastic. I'm more concerned with OSS than FOSS thought desu.
>Have you ever installed gentoo?
No. I might if i plan on buying a raspi for a very specific singular purpose, since gentoo has the benefit of being highly modular, but otherwise there's just no use for it.
>Highest level of education?
What matters isn't magic paper but competency. I'm self-taught mostly.

Windows 10
Custom built desktop at the moment
Java, C#, Visual Basic .NET (yes... I know), TypeScript
C# is my favorite.
Notepad++ is generally what I use.
Visual Studio Community is generally what I utilize for my programming language of choice on Windows. If programming in Java, I use Eclipse, and I use MonoDevelop for C# on Linux-based systems.
Why should I give a shit about the "UNIX philosophy"?
What a loaded bullshit term. "Software Minimalist". Eat shit, faggot.

Does Pop_OS! work?
Depends on what you mean by "work" but yes. Default install is really well polished and lets me do what I want without any hassle. Very clean UI/UX, great selection of software. Relevant to my field.
Only problems are:
> had to modify boot params and change bootstrap table kernel params in order to have it (or any Linux for that matter) boot off of the E485.
> Not the latest Ubuntu, not a big deal but being able to take full advantage of the built-in Radeon Graphics would be pretty nice.

>Knowledge
This question is a joke for anyone that's freelanced like I have. I do web development and desktop application development. The language often matters less than frameworks and constraints. I don't know native mobile or OS development, or any AI or machine learning stuff.
>Language
Haskell for fun. Ruby for scripting. Otherwise, it depends on project needs. For real work I don't have a favorite and rarely get to choose. Even if I am the decider, I pick the best language for the task, and it varies.
>Editor
Neovim
>IDE
VIM, or whatever IDE is available for the project. Whatever compiler works for the project.
>UNIX
It's not something you believe in, it's something you use. Do I believe it works? Yes. But there are limits. UNIX style systems win out in the long run but monolithic systems always get short term edges. I'm grateful for what I have because of UNIX but in my own software things are only modular insofar as it prevents technical debt. Also, the UNIX philosophy largely won and is a no brainier these days, nobody writes the sort of old procedural code of yesterday. It's all APIs, ABIs, objects, packages, tools, frameworks, etc.
>Minimalist
Anyone who claims to be is a liar. Every usuable system these days has so many layers of abstraction that you'd go Terry Davis if you tried to be a minimalist. But I do have one PC running Arch and another running Ubuntu. So sometimes I use less, sometimes I use more.

Lua, because it's tiny and really, really cozy. I really wish it took off more. It's possible to use it as a standalone language, if people wrote the Lua modules for that. One goal of mine is to do for Lua what Node.JS did for cancerous Javascript, only using Lua so it's not cancerous.
