I had actually installed Gentoo on RPI1 back when it was released. Took me quite some time.
And a day later that piece of shit corrupted my sd card.
Needless to say that it went right into the drawer after that
Damn.. 1st revisions were bad. Low power via USB, card corruptions all over the place. At least modding it was fun. Should probably get it out of the drawer someday.

>Research cool things to do with it.
>Realize the only real use is as a mediocre emulator.
>Throw it in a drawer for a rainy day.
>Even on rainy days never touch it again.

>another fucking idiot bought a Pi without any idea what to use it for

Now stop making a thread about it

Right up your bum.

>And a day later that piece of shit corrupted my sd card.
You mean you say you didn't image your SD card the moment you finished installing the OS on it?
Can only blame the operator here.

haha dumbass, i got a beagleboard, way cooler.

Based.
Beaglebros WW@?

I have a Rock64. I put a minimal Debian install on it and use it to install software I want to experiment with, but don't want to risk messing up my main Debian laptop with. I have other plans for it too, all of them experimental.

...

kodi or pihole

see

put ubuntu server on the SD card
use the complete lack of a monitor to force you to learn to do everything via SSH and the command line
once you get basic administration down try starting a small file or web server
as you get bored you think of new things you can add to the little guy; make sure to iterate and take baby steps
it's amazing how much a little low-power device can do when it doesn't have to be burdened by a GUI

Install pihole
Configure your router to have it masquerade as any traffic on 53
Be sad in two weeks when you lose all internet because the sd card died from the constant writes the logs caused
Call your mother and tell her you love her

Holy shit, we have this thread every day. Most people on Jow Forums are retarded niggers.

>Call your mother and tell her you love her
This is by far the best piece of advice in this thread

Up the butt it goes.

docker, VMs, and chroot exist you fucking tard

OSMC, it makes a great little movie box, use a vpn.

>Be sad in two weeks when you lose all internet because the sd card died from the constant writes the logs caused
Bullshit, I've had it running for literal years, I don't even remember how long. My home server is running off of a 32GB SD card as well and using standard Debian stable, it's also been running for years.
