I used to think ThinkPads were just a meme, and t be honest they still look like a toy computer for me, I just bought my first t430, and it's quite good.
Except for the audio. The sound is worse than my 1$ AA battery speakers

All good options in my opinion. Even the macbook if you have the money for it and just like the way it feels. If you're installing your own OS it's not like it really matters anyways. Worrying about your hardware choice because of the software thats on it is toddler-tier shit and if that affects your decision you shouldn't be on Jow Forums
