yikes

...

The problem isn't that apple refuses to do the service, the problem is that they flat out lie to consumers by saying that it is literally impossible to ever recover data from water damaged electronics. Every time any person brings up the option of 3rd party repair shops or even the fact that data recovery IS possible they get permabanned from apple forums.

call up dell and ask them to recommend a third party repair shop to do some shit outside of their scope. see what they say.

>It's not a problem because other people do it too
at the very least I can guarantee that dell wouldn't have the gall to tell you it's impossible to do 'some shit outside of their scope' which also happens to be trivial and commonly done
Dell warranty also includes data recovery you massive retarded niggerfaggot. in your attempt to slip a shitty fallacy you went full retard and brought up another solid argument against yourself

(You)

(I) am right

>when you mail your iPhone off three states away for an electrical repair that could have broken the hardware key manager and it somehow gets fixed but half the encryption key is now three states away on someones fingertip

we were never talking about the practices of third parties. the fact is, apple is intentionally and knowingly telling bold face lies to all of their consumers.
>shifting goalposts so hard you end up three states away from the field everyone else is playing on

there are way too many factors and possible outcomes when you want to repair an encrypted computer that fell into the toilet. the news people are cherrypicking.

based

There are not too many factors. The data is either easily recoverable by common means, or it would either take far too much effort or is simply impossible. 90% of water damaged phones will have a single component that was shorted and is preventing operation; checking a few traces with a multimeter will find the broken component within five to ten minutes. Desolder, replace with functional component. boot device, data is recoverable. If it isn't that easy, send it back to the customer and tell them sorry, we can't. Did you even watch the video, that's literally what the repair shop does with every iPhone they get.

The news people are also not cherrypicking, literally 100% of all users on the apple forums which bring up 3rd party repair shops have their posts removed, and people who bring it up more than once or complain about the posts' deletion are unilaterally banned

It's a community forum you fucking retard.

>apple is intentionally and knowingly telling bold face lies to all of their consumers.

Go ahead and call AppleCare right now and ask about data recovery, they'll recommend multiple companies in your area you can send you device to get the data recovered.

These CBC reports are hack journalism.

>>Through a special agreement with Apple Computer, DriveSavers is proud to offer Apple customers data recovery services at reduced rates. We’re also extending some very special benefits. DriveSavers is authorized and recommended by Apple to perform data recovery on their data storage devices. Our work will not void your original warranty.

Jow Forums btfo yet again.

they can get away with it in usa

This company charges thousands of dollars

So yeah, no and go fuck yourself

Dell literally endorses third-party repair, you retard. I recently searched for the type of screw the XPS 13 uses so I can buy some and there was a forum post by a mod or whatever linking me to an online parts shop.

go ahead and recover data from a water damaged iphone for free then

Jessa does it for $300 minimum, it doesn't cost 1k+

I believe Canada is working on a right to repair bill.

Also looks like samshit is also bad at letting others repair their device.

this is on kiltedtims subscriptions and it hasn't been censored

No. Just no. There is no "shorted" anything, this isn't poorly understood near magic effects of some mythical theoretical particle. This is simply electrons being so small they can move through any material at the path of least resistance, because nothing can exert 100% perfect electrical control over them. It is current leakage. It is nothing but current leakage. It is current leakage in short channel devices, and it happens at literally every feature size, it is not exclusive to small FinFET devices like upcoming 5nm EUV FinFETs. Even planar devices have extremely high degrees of leakage through their channels, directly under the gates, electrons still leak out. Yet despite this the transistors still function.

Shorting is a meme regurgitated by people who know nothing about the field of FETs.

This. When I worked at a repair shop, Dell was pretty fucking chill
>Try to get parts from any other brand
>blah blah not an authorized repair center etc etc refused
>Try to get parts from Dell
>Sure, we just mailed them to you
Even when the repair was under warranty, they'd send us the parts we reported as faulty. We couldn't do that with any other brands.
