Why haven't you joined the masterrace yet?
GNOME on Wayland
I'm waiting gnome 3.30 to become stable on gentoo so I can enjoy it without systemd
I like KDE.
Works equally well on Xorg, for me.
I have a desktop, not a tablet
DEs are bloat
>entirely keyboard driven
>tablet interface
nice meme, scaliefag
>GNOME master race
kys
>Why haven't you joined the masterrace yet?
I have, since I can't stomach 4.0.x Cinnamon anymore.
It's better than I remember, although far from perfect.
what's a scaliefag?
>GNOME
That's why
bump before it gets archived. I can't let a thread about the greatest desktop environment ever created die that easily.
but what about the systemd
Upgraded to the fedora 30 beta and it's pretty based. Fractional scaling is almost there, vidya (even proton stuff) works great on wayland now, and the new adwaita is excellent.
greatest service and system management software suite of all time
Pepsi paid one million buckerinos for this bullshit.
>unironically saying this about systemd
kek imagine being this much of a shill
you've been brainwashed by the cat-v cultists
Gnome on Wayland is like AIDS on a nice thing
I'll wait for KDE Plasma on wayland.
>gnome
I dumped that shit so hard.
Well, it's already here, but last time I tried it with Plasma 5.14, the multiscreen was shit. I'll give it another shot with 5.16
No DisplayLink or Nvidia.
>Nvidia
weird in gnome i use teh mouse as little as i would in i3. git gud
>needs GNOME and Wayland to have no screen tearing
heh
protip: enjoy your video micro stutter and general de lagines
>stuttering animations
>no high refresh rate
>no taskbar
cancer
>anything other than dwm
>xorg
I thought you guys hate bloat, why the double standard?
>KDE on X
>no screen tearing
>buttery smooth scrooling
Why haven't you joined the masterrace yet?
I tried.
>No screen tearing.
>Panning camera in any game native or wined feels jerky, framerate is ok but the pacing is terrible.
>Same with mvp video output.
I blame X for it.
Also using it with multiple monitors of different size is an abstract kind of hell
(OP)
No plank on wayland sadly. If plank got wayland support I would move
>inb4 Gnome Dock
It's not the same.
Unrelated but why are there so many tripfags on Jow Forums now? My filterlist hasn't been this full in fucking years.
Did they get drawing tablets (like Wacom) working on Wayland yet?
I don't get that issue with mpv. No jerkiness whatsoever. Can't say whether or not the issue exists for games, though, as I don't play them.
Because GNOME extension model is retarded.
Extensions directly manipulate the internal state of GNOME and any small error can crash the whole desktop.
When you consider GNOME is known for breaking any kind of compatibility without warning, you can literally update GNOME one day and discover your desktop is now unusable.
And no, I don't like the default look of GNOME, which is why I have to use a modest number of extensions to customize it.
retard
Touched a nerve didn't I?
>using language and "features" like "scrolling smoothly" from old android rom hype threads on xda circa 2012 to describe a cell phone "desktop OS"
>year of our lord xx19
Sour grapes
Nvidia works on GNOME Wayland
GNOME is featureless as it gets. It requires broken extensions for anything, doesn't have a proper global menu, doesn't even have a google drive plugin that's comparable to kio-gdrive. Requires fucking editing text files to set up different fonts on the panels. What the fuck is the point of this? if I wanted a desktop so limiting I'd use macOS, at least it got some of those features.
I'm on LXQTjaro 'cause it's smol, I don't use a compositor (no rice) and I get good perf like this on nouvidea with DXVK
