Are we sure that uBlock Origin doesn't merely hide ads?

Sometimes I load a page and all the ads actually load - then a few seconds later they suddenly disappear as if they never loaded at all. But I saw it, they loaded. Pls explain this. Sometimes it seems more like uHide Origin to me.

short explanation:
plug-ins like ad-blockers work by removing, well, the ads from the page. it will first need to load before it can be removed.
trackers are a different story, but that is because they can only track once the script is already loaded.
if you see ads, it can be that your browser has them cached before you began using it, or any other problem. you can check whether trackers still work via the development tools.

Wish this thread would hide after a few seconds tbqh.

Only time I've noticed this was without UBO Extra using websites like webmd that use ads on their own domain to bypass adblockers.

It's happened several times over the past couple of years. Most notably on PornHub.

>platform
Windows
>browser
different ones at different times. This latest case was yesterday on Opera. But it's happened on Chrome and Firefox. All browsers set to auto-update, and uBO also set to auto-update on all of them.

>i don't know how to log requests
even windows has a firewall nigga, kys

Happened to me a few times as well

wrong
proper ad blockers can stop ads from being downloaded at all
those are first party ads. you receive them with the web page and there's nothing you can do about it.
Facebook has them, for example.

>this meme again
((((((ABP))))))) shills need to get the fuck out

Stop watching porn.

We would need to see your post before deciding you're a faggot then hide you

>trusting gorshill
>using uhide origin
>bloating your browser with addons
>not using a hosts file

Good luck blocking ads served by the same domain as the page, retard.

That's dns block like pi-hole

I use the someonewhocares zero hosts file, is this what you recommend user?

It hides the ads, you can get some adblockers that click them indiscriminately so ad companies have to issue refunds.

Shit, I remember the uhide shitposting to the point gorhill updated the readme in ublock's github.

Use Firefox Focus, built in Adblock

Yes, they just hide ads
But every other ad"blocker" is the same
Only way to actually block ads is with something similar to pihole

NoScript, you chimpanzee

>not umatrix

>Are we sure that uBlock Origin doesn't merely hide ads?
Yes.
Some ads can only be hidden, though, and all adblockers will hide them.

This dumb shit doesn't know anything.

ublock origin is only good for hiding ads, if you want to actually block things use umatrix

Well since you said pls, I have the actual fucking answer.
You have to disable pre-fetching which will make browsing slow as fuck. You can have either privacy or speed, not both. Pick one. If you already did that, it's probably because they're generic cosmetic filters which are executed after the page loads: github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Does-uBlock-block-ads-or-just-hide-them

>UBO Extra
found the Chrom* fag.
