Is there a way to stop a program I launched with a batch or powershell script automatically? I want to stop redshift automatically whenever my computer goes to sleep, since it fucks up whenever I do that.

Is there anything dangerous about Running Lineage OS (android 14.1) now that its no longer support on my Moto G4 Play?

Probably. Most MVNOs accept locked phones from their parent network.

Currently looking for a quality 3TB external hard drive to back up my shit in. The one that I'm using right now, a WD 3TB MyBook, has turned itself read-only and is most likely going to implode soon.

TL;DR - What's a good 3TB external hard drive?

Hello Jow Forums, I'm new to PC stuff and I just built a PC 2 months ago from Youtube guides and recommendation from Jow Forums- pcbuild. I finally decided to get a 1 tb hdd because my ssd isn't good enough but then when I install the hardware it vibrates my whole desk for like a noticeable annoying amount of vibrations. Is this normal? I currently disconnected the sata cables because I'm scared the incessant vibrations could damage my other parts

No, not really. That only means they're no longer being developed, so you won't get any updates. It's still highly usable. If there is a massive android exploit that comes to the surface, then I might consider switching to a phone/OS that gets updates, just in-case, but otherwise you're good. My personal device hasn't been supported for over a year and it's fine.

I would just buy a pair with cat ears on them, or make them yourself. Maybe check Etsy, there are plenty of unique items on there.

Western Digital is trustworthy. Seagate and Samsung are pretty trusted as well. I personally got the 4tb WD passport and it's been working great for a few years now with daily use.

I can't install the latest NVIDIA drivers on 2016 LTSB.
Is it finally time to switch to regular Windows 10?
Or does the 2019 LTSC work just fine with the drivers?

A standard HDD does make more noise and vibrate more than an SSD, but it shouldn't be as noticeable as you described it. Did you properly screw it into the hard drive chassis? If it's loose, it could be making more noise than it should be

Which engineering would you recommend and why?

Yes, the 2016 version doesn't support them and the 2019 version does. Any version of Windows after the 1803 update should support the newer drivers.

try adding a piece of rubber to the screws of try to "seal" the screws with a good amount of epoxy, hot glue or whatever you want. This will reduce the vibrations and most likely the sounds, try first with the rubber

That's what google told me as well...but the vibration is on another level it's like when you're in a considerably old car you can feel it resonate in your arms when you rest your hands on the desk. Do I screw it really really tight to the driver cage? Btw I have "WD WD10EZEX Blu Hard Disk Desktop da 1 TB, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 GB/s, 64 MB Cache, 3.5 ""

I mean, it should be tight, but you don't need to strain to put the screws in. It may be your desk; I had one where the computer tower was sitting on a small platform and when it was doing anything strenuous, I could feel the vibration if I rested my wrist on the desk's surface. I think that was more the fans though, not the hard drive. Have you done any tests on the drive to make sure it's healthy? If not, download Crystaldiskinfo and run it just to be sure

>Furry/guro/loli/shota porn outside of /b/.
That will teach you faggot.

>Crystaldiskinfo
What does that do?
Also I'm not sure if the driver is the problem because it's really new I just bought it yesterday but I will try and buy some rubber to the screws and see if that helps.

It just looks at the drive and gives you info about it. It could give you a hint that something is wrong with the hardware.

Is there anyway to verify at least mostly that my windows 10 2019 practice that's been activated with kmspico isn't sending out data without my Knowledge m any processes is should be looking our for?

Windows 10 ltsc*

Not really. You can install a firewall and check it, but windows sends out a shitton of stuff anyway, so it would be impractical to hunt anything down. Why 'pico, and where'd you get it?

check your router logs
hop on another machine and run wireshark

Will I get any performance decrease if I use my laptop plugged in, without a battery?

Attached: 1509950970699.jpg (770x814, 296K)

while windows sends out a bunch of stuff, it all goes to the same place, just look for anything going somewhere else

>it all goes to the same place
If only.

does it not?
I just assumed windows sent all it's shit to the same place then sorted it out there.

So I had a 2011 MacBook Pro I've used Mac OS with for several years. This specific model has a known problem with its internal GPU where it malfunctions. Long story short, it doesn't turn on anymore when it starts to load Mac OS.

I was wondering if it would be possible to install Linux on it, maybe even disable the malfunctioning GPU through the installation somehow. Should I give it a go or is it a broken piece of trash?

Attached: apple-macbook-pro-13_09.jpg (260x158, 9K)

Sure, I will try that if the noise still persist after I installed the rubbers

Hell no. Its constantly shouting to loads of domains.

don't really know anything about macs but a computer is a computer right?

damn, that seems ignorant on their part

I mean most shit these days phones home to multiple domains, microsoft just takes it to another level. In all likelihood to make the kind of blocking you're talking about difficult to attempt, or just cause they don't give a fuck.

Attached: 1551965270568.png (1500x1500, 134K)

I guess the only option then is something like a pfsense router and only whitelist stuff you know what it is and want?

qt

If you're sure something is running on that port, then it's definitely firewalled (or not correctly forwarded in the case of a home IP).

>only whitelist stuff you know what it is
That sounds...insane. You ever used a firewall with that level of restriction? How bout umatrix? A system connects to a LOT of shit you want just browsing the internet.

official-kmspico.com/%3famp
Haven't done it yet just asking

That is malware. Acquaint yourself with the OP.

I'm not that guy, but I use something like that, yeah. I use simplewall on W7. It's slighly annoying, but having control is much more reassuring. Every fucking thing wants to connect to the internet these days. I'm not sure how well it would handle telemetry services, but it's worth a try.

I wouldn't trust that site, user. Last I heard, the only official releases were posted on the MyDigitalLife forums and the rest weren't official and possibly tampered with.

Windows 7 is less of a bitch. 10 is on a level of fuckery where it's hard to trust local software. The advantage of a local firewall is that it can have rules that allow shit on an application basis, so you can whitelist your browser specifically, thus saving you the lions share of your headache.

there's no serious short-term problems this could induce, are there?

Attached: 1539336193220.jpg (500x500, 176K)

I understand that. W7 still has telemetry though, and does have services that try to connect to the internet, things that simplewall did block. I'm just reluctant to say that it'll solve your problem, because I've never tried it on W10. I forgot to add that the program I mentioned asks you what to do when a program tries to connect. It blocks by default in whitelist and you can allow or block every time it asks, or make the rule permanent. It's easy to use, but might be too simple in scope.

I hooked my new pc to my tv and everything seems to be working except the sound. I read other people with windows 10 have had this problem but I am not sure if that is it.

>I hooked my new pc to my tv
via HD cable?
Have you updated drivers and restarted the PC?

what's the Jow Forums bump limit?

The thing is microsoft learns from malware. They actually admitted some of their forced 'upgrade to 10' shit was inspired by malware. Their new OS has the benefit of years of observation, and they tweak it each time they do the bi annual mandatory upgrade, often times counteracting recent developments they don't like. Trying to maintain your privacy locally just isn't viable.

7 and 8.1 just got some half harted tweaks to send some shit back, 7 didn't even get the ability for them to force uninstall programs by remote. It's a whole different ballgame. Plus you can just opt out of telemetry updates in the older OSes.

I'm thinking about using pick related attached to an old laptop hard drive to use it as a storage drive. If I do so will I have to unmount it every time I shut the computer down.

According to OP 302.

>They actually admitted some of their forced 'upgrade to 10' shit was inspired by malware
Do you have any evidence of this?

HDMI. I tried to update the audio drivers when I googled my problem.

I think the gfx card drivers are more important than the audio drivers
screenshot your sound settings

I do not. It was a few years back and I don't remember enough specifics to pull up the reference. There is a fucking armada of articles about how they revert and limit changes to the os at upgrades though. They're always evolving the software to give them more control and users less. The only practical way to interact with 10 is like you would a gaming system, with no expectation of privacy.

Did you set HDMI as your active audio device?

Currently in the process of a build and I got some recommendations from here, but the damn thing won't power on. F panel wires are in the right place on the mother board and all the essential cables from the psu or on the motherboard as well and I'm still getting nothing. Is it the psu or something that I possibly overlooked?

rotate your shit, nigger i dont want to break my neck

also unplug every cable power cable and the front panel and then plug in every power cable and just short the fucking power pins on the mobo instead

So I've got this netbook and it's old as shit. I wanna slap some linux on it, but idk which distro to use.

Specs:
CPU -Intel Atom N270 / 1.6 GHz
RAM -2GB DDR2

>inb4 install gentoo

would arch be a viable option?
thx bois

Fuck annon, you've actually found a useful setting you can't change without activating.

Im about to eat so hopefully someone else can help you whilst Im gone
It should come on the disk, otherwise, find the name of your gfx card and search for it
download nvidia geforce software if its an nvidia card

No, the disk is always obsolete as fuck. You would use the website.

I replugged everything and still nothing. Also, can you elaborate what shorting the power pins on the motherboard means?

>buying wifi card instead of a mobo with built in wifi

i said unplug the fucking front panel

Can someone post CS study material?
I remember seeing links with exercises and books to read

Attached: 1534249338993.jpg (455x810, 55K)

Don't remember where I read it, but there was some big no no about having a GPU connected to a different PSU than the mobo.

Guys

Random as fuck

My parents are paying like 130 dollars a month for cable that they dont use, 1000mbps internet, and phone in the NY area

What are you guys paying, what service?
I want fast internet and phone for a good price.

Is the case known to be good? More specifically the power button? If not use the power button on the mobo if it has one, or short the power pins (the ones where you connect the power button itself) with a screwdriver or something. If it doesn't work, test you PSU by shorting two wires (you should searx for this, iirc it's a unique colored wire shorted with a ground (black)). Make sure to plug in a fan or something, some PSUs refuse to power on if nothing is going to draw power.

1Gbit here in sweden is $70. And i pay $15 for unlimited calls/texts and 4GB data/mo on my phone that saves unused data for a year.
finland has unlimited mobile data for less than $30/mo

I pay about 10 dolars/month for solid internet connection and my mum pays like dollar or two for my phone (her employee benefit).

I am in eastern Europe, though.

this is fiber btw and im only doing 100/100 for $35/mo right now

cable is old tech

I meant 100 mbps, not 1000.
And im talking home internet and home phone bundle.
And unfortunately guys this is an america specific issue.

I want to run a couple of services on a computer 24/7 while using the least amount of power what is the best way to do this? Should I just leave it in either sleep or hibernation mode or is there a better way?

Attached: disturbed_uki.jpg (516x409, 38K)

underrated post

>sleep or hibernation
Those are effectively turning your computer off. You'll have to just turn off the shit you aren't using, like your monitor.

>want to run services 24/7
>should i sleep or hibernate?
are you retarded?
get some low-power cpu or AIO mobo. also an SSD.

Every OS you install on that thing (either Windows XP or some Linux distribution, although even BSDs should be usable if it has Atheros Wi-Fi) will run rather slow thanks to the CPU and chipset, even more so if you haven't replaced the hard drive with the cheapest SSD you can find.
That said, Arch as a 64-bit distribution won't work, but the i686 architecture has been split off into the Arch32 community project.
archlinux32.org/

Oh shit you're right, I forgot that it's 32-bit. That complicates things.
