How are your projects coming along, Jow Forums?

I want to make a shell. What are some not totally basic, but not crazy hard features to add?

My current project is moving from Unraid to ubongu running an mdadm raid 6 array.
Started with 4x 6TB disks, when the drive is done with rsync im going to grow the array with said drive, and then do the same shit 3 more times.

I moved the Plex metadata folder to the array to discover the performance was trash so hoping the increase in drives will help.

Erase filesystem on command error

I wanted to buy kitchen cabinets today, but I slacked off for too long, and in the end I changed my summer wheels so at least the day wouldn't be entirely wasted.

Trying to create a udev rule to differentiate CD DVD BD discs. I can't mount or see info with lsblk for a DVD. I have libdvdcss installed.

The point of all of this is to automatically rip whatever media I insert into the drive. Strangely I can see disc metadata for BD, but not DVD.

There's nothing I want to do

literally me every fucking weekend and all because I'm too impatient to go read books to learn shit and not knowledgeable enough to actually do any work on projects
might just end it soon if I don't fix myself

I've wanted something that's like a cross between unified shared history and just regular history behavior.

So if I have more than one session open, If I press up I get the last command run in this shell instance, and if I press ctrl+r I chronologically search the local shell's history (and whatever was in the history file when I started the shell of course)
BUT
If I press ctrl+up I get whatever the last command was run across all open shells. and maybe ctrl+h or some other unbound thing gives me a global chronological search across all open shells.

Fuck the books, user. Just learn as you do. Google everything you don't know. It's not optimal but the only way for people with short attention spans.

I'm stuck trying to understand C# honestly. I just want random movement and I'm trying to use events saying that when wall ___ is hit send the object in the opposite direction. But my brain is frying because I've been staring at this shit for hours and feel like I'm only missing one aspect for it to work.

Attached: wakemeup.jpg (706x720, 91K)

Assign a delegate function you can invoke on the object from the wall when it hits?

I have nothing to work on.
All software I want already exists.
I have no purpose.

just invert the vertical movement if it hits a horizontal wall and invert the horizontal movement if it hits a vertical wall.
how is it random movement, though, and why is it c# specific?

>How are your projects coming along, Jow Forums?
good. Thanks for asking.
Earlier today I set myself a task:
- take a walk outside to some random uni
- sit inside library
- finish one single task for my robot (get the i2c pwm controller to work)
- finished after about 1h of hacking. Literally have done nothing else there except of drinking water.
- take a long walk home
was comfy as fuck and felt really really good. I should do that more often.

2D or 3D?

If this is only in 2D, you might just be retarded.

I'm gearing up to carry out a Windows clean install soon. I'll probably resume tomorrow since it'll be true Spring weather. Then eventually I'll have to manually download all the current updates for Windows 7 and learn how to slipstream them onto the ISO. Then I'll spend the rest of the year until January checking Windows Update every single day for any new updates to add onto the disc image. So that way I'll be able to acquire every single update right up until the very moment Micro$oft bangs the death knell for the last best OS they've ever created and will ever create.

I was going to finish a java assignment for uni this week, but after reaching 90% completion last week, I haven't even touched the IDE this week.

back to the source with you

I've never worked with a delegate function but I'll look into it. As of right now, I'm referencing a different script with for statements that should be setting it. But again something isn't connecting between the two.

C# specific because Unity. I've tried using Random.Range(-x,x) but it's not working because I'm struggling getting that variable to change with Collision.

3D user. Pretty sure I'm still retarded though.

By the way, thanks for the replies. This is pretty wholesome experience. Never posted on Jow Forums before.

Don't really have any projects unless you count decorating my apartment. I'm building a hanging herb garden. I used up all of today making lunch, working out and doing some financial stuff, but I've got tomorrow to get it done.

Not a big shell user but
>List breakdown of files/subdirectories by disk usage. Would be good to have an algorithm that shows main disk usage and groups things sensibly even when there are many small files, small directories etc.
>Along the lines of , a smarter history search. E.g. maybe show the top 10 most common commands and let you first select by command then search within params.

Would you like suggestions?

Have you looked into coursera? Some structure might help you.

>Would you like suggestions?
Go on

See fish or oilshell for inspirations.

>Have you looked into coursera?
I have, so far 2 times and both times I dropped after 3-4 weeks because I had something else more important to focus on and didn't feel like catching up

Yesterday:
>learning new editor, vscode oss edition
>wasting five hours converting my qmake "program" to meson
>results in size * 10 binary and cryptic runtime errors
>c++ commands the same as those produced by qmake
>reverting back to qmake
Never again will I get baited by pretty compiler output.

Today:
>update old website to php7
>first and last php project
>switched to composer, updated to PhpSpreadsheet and PHPMailer
>rewrote some parts to not embarass myself further
It took me a while, it was written five years ago and I'm pleased to know that my(stackoverflows) regexes do their work and I don't get spam from it.
I have five regulars that order food monthly with it so I should invest some time to "modernize" it for phones.
vscode was quite comfy with php/docker and compose extension.

Now going to bed and hopefully masturbate tomorrow. Good luck guys.

Why not put Plex metadata on an SSD?

Things to consider:
>education e.g. online courses, contributing to OSS projects
>sports e.g. zogsports or something similar
>non-sport hobbies e.g. tabletop gaming, boardgames, there are leagues you could sign up for or bars that have regular events
>purely social hobbies e.g. meetups, zogsports for non-serious sports like kickball
>working out

Generally I think the best way to spend time involves a mix of social and specific interests. Things you do purely on your own will be less rewarding but can be necessary, e.g. building skills needed to get a job, or learning basic skills for a sport.

If you post more about your interests I can give more specific ideas.

Is there a way to do this so you don't have to stick to a fixed schedule? Do all coursera or similar courses have deadlines?

What courses did you take?

i wish i could smoke in my house

>interests
The only half-serious interest I have left is music. Tried most of the things you listed but eventually abandoned them, because I couldn't get motivated to keep it up

I wrote a c++ program that blocks Jow Forums and i have enter the string I am a faggot and want to go back to the shithole if i want to unblock it

something satisfying about typing in sudo 4chanblock

and having this site fail to connect everytime i try to go to it

My problem is I can't think of any good project ideas.

Am I just too boring to come up with ideas?

I want to try using Nim

I don't know what to make

>Following a tutorial to learn Vulkan
>Doing it in C on purpose even though the tutorial is in sepples
>Figure I can just convert it to sepples later, but only if I want to, not if the tutorial wants me to
>Get to the part where they're talking about validation layers
>Tutorial uses a vector of const char*s for extensions, gets a bunch from a glfw function, and then uses .push_back() to append the debug extension required for validation layers to work to the list of extensions
>Later uses sepples foreach voodoo to iterate over the vector
>Have spent the last three days trying to figure out how to replicate this without malloc or making my own struct
Pretty fucking awful thanks for asking

check out elvish

Sounds like you have a problem of energy/motivation. While it's not good to rely on it too much, sometimes I drink an energy drink when I want to do something but don't feel motivated.

What kind of music are you into? Do you play any instruments or sing?

>start working on my project
>about two hours in, done some things I wanted to do
>lets take a break for a bit
>open 4chin
>now several hours later
Welp

Coffee used to help, but now it only gets me agitated.
I used to play the violin. Haven't picked it up for over a year now.

I spent all fucking day clothes and shoe shopping with my wife.
I just needed steel toes. We ended up with a carbon steel pan, a few shirts, and some hair conditioner.(and the steel toes) It took 6 hours. What the fuck??

what does it feel like having a wife?

It's great she gives good head and loves to cook and makes a lot of money from her Patreon/twitch.

>making your wife a cam whore
This is my fetish

i picked up a sun microsystem server from a surplus auction like a year ago, and to this day i still havent done anything with it.

tidecallernami

>send post request with data to my API
>data actually shows up when i query for it
feelsgoodman

It's going great. I'm working on a pretty massive Nim library, should be helpful for the ecosystem.

I don't have one

Give me something to work on boys

something interesting

make a program that reduces blue light from your display at night time

>How are your projects coming along, Jow Forums?
still reading the X documentation/developers guide
its been well over two months since i wanted to start developing towards X

Attached: 1552852725470.jpg (891x874, 320K)

lol, the constraint you placed on yourself forced you to do even more important and foundational work, stick with it, it's worth

What is a good project for a beginner? I can make loops and shit in Java

You're doing it wrong.

Start working on X now, and read the documentation when you get stuck and need an answer. If you are staring at a blank screen, literally copy and paste the X hello world, make the example incrementally more complicated rerunning each time you get new functionality

alright i'll do something like that then for today
copied the Xlib hello world from rosettacode and i'll do my best to understand it and go from there

I came into this thread to funpost but then realized I've been on the http version, not the https version. So I checked smart https and noticed there was a whitelist of about 30 domains, which I NEVER PUT THERE MYSELF! Jow Forums and 4channel, porn tubes, random google search results apparently. Smart HTTPS, Firefox from F-Droid 66.0.1.

What the fuck? I've never used the whitelist, ever. If something doesn't load I just use a regular normie browser instead of going through all the hoops of whitelists etc.
I don't understand...?

I heard there are logging applications that log how long you are in what application. Can be real mind blowing and enlightening to see where you waste how much time, OP.

Make regex 2.0. I need more power.

Will most likely put SSDs in LVM writeback cache
