No. I need botnet software.

Parabola is the only usable one.
>Trisquel
Everything is years out of date, only usable for literal boomers who only need to read the news and check their emails
>PureOS
Same problems as Trisquel, but not as bad
>gNewSense, Dragora, Dynebolic, Ututo
Dead projects
>Hyperbola
Parabola, but with worse support
>Guix SD
Interesting experiment that is not ready for adoption

No. I choose fully free software wherever practical, but sometimes I need non-free stuff to make everything work properly. Especially firmware and drivers for things I've had since before I was aware of and cared about free software.

>Everything is years out of date
Isn't that the point? It's a LTS distro.

RMS has a retarded childlike philosophy of "your nonfree software is touching my free software". Things like Fedora and Debian come fully free but will prompt you to download nonfree drivers if you require them. They also make it very easy to enable nonfree repos if you need programs from them. I consider this much more freedom respecting than something that tells me I'm not allowed to do something.

I think the ideal is to have ONE box with the safest most open GNU/Linux machine you can get and use this one as your "important shit" machine.
Then have a machine with the best for your work and a third machine for the TV to game and shit.

And obviously, isolate the important shit machine from the other two network wise.

>Parabola is the only usable one.
Words of the wise. Never been happier replacing Arch with Parabola OpenRC.

>systemd is nonfree
Good to see contrarians are still just making shit up about it.

>Fedora laptop
>Ubuntu PC
>Ubuntu touch phone
>Chromium with Google-botnet
>Firefox with Tranny-Zilla botnet

You can never fully escape the botnet, but you can minimize it

Attached: 1528938029722.jpg (680x661, 62K)

good to see retards faggots like you still exist and think that a huge blob of unaudited code is good for open source software

You're free to audit it yourself if the existing effort is not satisfactory.

Yes, Gentoo with all nonfree licenses masked.

>systemd has never been audited

i have a libreboot x200. i have tried trisquel, parabola, gentoo and guixsd. of them my favorite is guixsd but i am now running elementary. i know its based off ubuntu and probably has non-free blobs in its kernel. however i have no non-free hardware requesting those blobs so maybe im ok? i dont really know how that works

in any event im just glad i dont have intel me to worry about, just all the other intel bullshit...

oh and a couple points i missed: rms has a post about the so called 'freedom to give away ones freedom' aka 'freedom to enslave' and the flawed mindset that it is somehow above all others the most essential freedom. go read his site if you think hes wrong (he isnt)

systemd is free software whether you agree with its policies and the way its run or not--and whether its been audited or not and if its good software is another can of worms

>all of systemd has been audited
>it is a good idea to implement a large block of unaudited code written by glowies into my open source "free" software.

this is a nigger tier argument equivalent to saying why do you care if they are monitoring you if you have nothing to hide.
shoot yourselves

>have to use an outdated fork of fucking firefox because being able to install non-free addons and having trademarked branding apparently robs me of my freedom
I'd rather use a sane distro and choose what software I want or don't want to install myself, thanks.

>Fedora does have a clear policy about what can be included in the distribution, and it seems to be followed carefully. The policy requires that most software and all fonts be available under a free license, but makes an exception for certain kinds of nonfree firmware. Unfortunately, the decision to allow that firmware in the policy keeps Fedora from meeting the free system distribution guidelines.
basically "gee, you want people to actually be able to use their hardware to get started? NO ENDORSEMENT FOR YOU!"

wow so smart user!

can you add non-free repos to parabola? nouveau doesn't work correctly with my card so I need the proprietary nvidia driveru, but that's pretty much the only non-free shit I need.

my own freedom > software freedom

whatever cuck. why are you even using linux if your that much of a manchild who needs muh netflix and muh content. you probably only use your computer to browse reddit

just remove the your-freedom package and install nvidia, or edit the pkgbuild so that it excludes it.

don't be like this guy

couldnt think of a rebuttal brainlet?

>this is a nigger tier argument equivalent to saying why do you care if they are monitoring you if you have nothing to hide.
No it isn't. If you're making a claim then fucking prove it. And your arguments are Jow Forums tier goalpost moving
>Systemd isn't free!
Yes it is
>W-well it hasn't been audited
Yes it has
>O-o-okay but like not entirely m-maybe?
So do it yourself, that way you'll have no layers of trust above you to fuel your paranoid delusions.

>le Jow Forums boogeyman
i bet pic related is what you look like stupid kike
ad hominem aside nobody has completely audited systemd and it is common knowledge that glowies have input in the project.
i believe in freedom of speech but trannys like you need to be shot in the head for being as deluded as you are

Attached: 1548349881290.gif (800x600, 144K)

My computer is too old for using linux. but not old enough to use linux.
Basically, i have an Geforce 9800GT and the official driver cut its speed by half and noveau by a 1/4.
But other that, i liked it and probably will use it when i get a better computer.

No, I just want to use an up-to-date browser with security patches and shit. Of course only cucks want to have secure up to date software and choice in what they want to install.

fair point.

no need, you didn't even make an argument.
systemd is smaller than firefox, are you telling me firefox is also a botnet?
Not only that, what systemd does it's simple and like 99% of servers use it. It would be a chaos if that thing was backported. Like don't you think a fucking backport in an open source project would be easy to find for any hacker? Heck even a script kiddie could do it, since it's just there in the open. Just use find in your text editor and look for the patterns that use the network. I'll put a photo of my asshole out here if you find anything harmful by design in systemd. Fucking faggot, because people have succefully made forks without the calls to mozilla of firefox, systemd is smaller so it shouldn't be hard to find right?
Fucking schizophrenic nigger faggot, Terris would be ashamed of you, fucking faggot

Firefox is unironically botnet. That's why IceCat exists.

>When speaking privately to someone I know is not likely to install non-free software, that is true. I can say to him, "You could use OpenBSD, as long as you take care, if you use the ports system, to check that the programs you install are free." When speaking to the public, that is not a real option; if I tried to do that, it would get simplified in transmission down to "Use OpenBSD", and that would lead people to use OpenBSD including the ports system. It's much like the situation for Debian. When speaking privately to someone who is not likely to install non-free software, I can recommend the official Debian GNU/Linux system and warn him to avoid the nonfree section which is also on the Debian servers. But if I said that to the public, it would get simplified in transmission down to recommending everything on Debian's servers. Thus, I don't recommend Debian.
marc.info/?l=openbsd-misc&m=119766951930728

Icecat changes a few defaults, removes whatever that media support shit is and replaces the addon store. If firefox is botnet, then icecat does fuck all to change that. Oh, and even being based on firefox ESR, it still manages to be half a year behind on bug fixes and security updates.

>Do you use a fully free GNU/Linux distribution, Jow Forums?
Of course not, fuck the bloated GNU tools.
I use Void Linux with MUSL.

Fedora is NOT fully free. There are blobs in the kernel. I don’t mind firmware packages since openBSD doesn’t care, but blobs are a no no.

Why doesnt taila use linux libre?

>firefox is not a botnet
>systemd is 100% reproducable and exactly what is written in the source code is what happens.
want to know how i know you are retarded
>I'll put a photo of my asshole out here
so you are implying that you are retarded and a faggot?
>Fucking faggot
i bet they dont let you say that on whatever subreddit you crawled out from
that aside i want to stab you in the mouth for using Terry's name in vain you fucking fat reddit bugman. You are a pissant stop replying to me

Parabola Parabola Parabola

>Reddit
You have to go back

No.
NixOS isn't on either page, but it would be classified the same as Gentoo. There are nonfree packages in nixpkgs. By default NixOS has only free software afaik. There might be blobs but I don't think in the default configuration, not sure tho.

RMS created his philosophy long ago. In modern systems you can safely run proprietary software in a virtualized or sufficiently sandboxed environment. Avoiding nonfree software is purely ideological. I use the computer for work though, and avoiding nonfree software would reduce my earning power. I have no good reason to use only free software.

>>le Jow Forums boogeyman
And you seem to be proving him right, you absolute faggot.

Attached: 1542755462694.png (501x506, 208K)

cope, nobody uses you unmaintained piece of shit distro

I don't care about free software, I use what works for me.

I use Fedora but I use Nvidia drivers.

Fuck Stallman, he's batshit insane, read stallman.org/

I used to like him, I even have a signed book of his, but I had to grow up at some point.

i was calling you a bugman reddit you dumb piece of shit
>because you are from Jow Forums you cant be right
if you could transform the amount of mental gymnastics you must do on a daily basis to exercise you probably wouldnt be a fat disgusting tranny
>i need bleeding edge packages so i can show off my sweet rice on r/unixporn
unironically kill yourself you dumb script kiddie
based and redpilled. but fuck systemd and fuck poettering

imagine being this mad at free software just because it's used by a lot of people and is secure

>Avoiding nonfree software
thats a funny way of saying 'using free software'

Absolutely not. I use Linux because it's lightweight and runs on cheap hardware vs Windows or MacOS. It is useful to me in this way. I use non-free software sometimes because I find those to be useful to me in other ways.

Not really. The first statement explicitly means NOT using nonfree software. "Using free software" does not explicitly mean you aren't using nonfree software. You can use free software and also nonfree software at the same time.

software can be either free or non-free. if your system contains non-free software (propriatery operating systems, binary-only applicatons, firmware blobs) then it is not a free system.

>systemd
>secure
keep it up, it is starting to get amusing

yeah i bet windows init is a lot more secure! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Do you mean GNU, Android, something else? Because, Linux is just a kernel.

>implying i use windows
you amaze me with how stupid you are

Ethics and morals is more important than extra bucks.

Right, and I use the Linux kernel

You can install nonfree addons on icecat

You know that right

GNU is overrated.
Glib is trash, just use musl
Core utils are trash, use busybox
Bash is much slower than dash.
GCC is trash but unavoidable as everything uses its non standard stuff.
The only good thing about gnu is being free as in freedom. But there is better free software.
It was not linux that was like cky that gnu existed, it was the other way around.

why yes, i do use a fully free GNU/Linux distribution, how could you tell?

Attached: 66f.jpg (1242x1394, 156K)

>can you add non-free repos to parabola
then what the fuck is the point of using parabola if you're just going to put non-free shit on it anyway. are you retarded?

here is what tipped me off, you diction was complicated which immediately tipped me off to your high iq. you aroma was pleasent, your arms are huge, your jawline could cut my head clean off, you are 6'5" and when i looked down i saw your massive member.
that is how i could tell

>you can't ever use mostly free while getting nonfree for things free software doesn't cover

This is why people hate you rms

I'm pretty sure his point was that any linux distro will get you "mostly free", FSF-approved or not.

So why put yourself through the trouble of using one of the full-freedom distros when an ordinary distro will get you exactly what you want/need?

yeah but then you might as well just use arch, whats the point of using parabola if you're just going to install non-free shit anyway?

because parabola>arch. any parabola user has the right to shit on an arch user whenever they please

Instead of 70-80% free you go 98% free

Is this really so hard

Go 100% or go home

based
