Wormhole file transfer

Has anyone here tried using wormhole for sending and receiving files? What do you think about it?

Is there a group on Jow Forums that send each other files this way?

Botnet

you could make a 20 line script that does this with ssh

What is it and why would I use it instead of scp or rsync

Post it

wormhole receive 4-speculate-solo

Seems like a direct file share with a relay.

I figure the alternatives are more like syncthing or retroshare or such a thing.

Sounds like botnet unless you can setup your own instance

it's a direct connection to your computer with a failover relay server.

I'm curious if there is a way to keep a send going after someone connects and downloads the file. Someone connected to and once it finished sending the file to them, the connection closed. I want a way to keep that active so more than one person can download it.

really if you want that functionality just use ipfs

or just open a port on your computer and leave it open

>what is literally any filesharing service
you're giving your files to a third party that doesn't even have any kind of reputation or legal agreement with you
you don't have to set up your own fileserver but don't be an idiot like this

> 20 line script
What? scp or rsync is one line.
But OP is like Teamviewer file transfer via tty, so it's eh. Useful for NAT traversal, I presume.

maybe understand the topic at hand before posting retarded shit?

back at you senpai

confirmed brainlet

>hey does anyone else use this totally insecure file transfer program
>no it's insecure
>lol brainlet

what makes this insecure brainlet? go on an embarrass yourself

who's relaying the file, sempai? your dog?

the transfer uses SPAKE2, meaning that even if you're not doing direct relay, the renzevous/relay server does not know what it is transferring

that "transfer code" acts like a p2p encryption phrase

For fun, i've linked "Think Like A Programmer" for whoever is interested. 1st one to get it is first one to have it.
Enjoy.

To everyone who thinks this is a botnet because it uses a relay server:

syncthing also uses a relay server. Luke Smith uses syncthing. Therefore it is not botnet.

Fuck off Luke. Go back to crying over your broken X220.

Hope you enjoy the free book user.

btw you don't need snap for this, its available via apt as "magic-wormhole"

it's also available via `pip install` if it's not in your distro's repos

Why not scp? That looks so shit.

>snap
You wouldn't have this as a normal deb package would you?

Pleb-tier non-botnet filesharing is renting a managed seed box and using bittorrent.

>bittorrent, a protocol that literal botnets usually piggyback on for CnC, is non-botnet
