SSDs are garbage

Buy a brand new Kangston 240GB SSD.
First thing I do is run A SMART test.
Has a Bad Block Count of 94 right out of the box, before even using it at all.

Jow Forums is not the amazon/newegg reviews section.

Also it is your fault for cheaping out on a vital component. Get a samsung or crucial, or even wd blue, poorfag.

Buy shit, get shit.

You have no idea about SSDs, right?

ssds are backdoored anyway, op.
dont get one unless you enjoy running a compromised system

SSDs are the tool of Satan.

Found your problem poorfag.

lol sucker

First I've heard this.

The Apple Macbook Pro with Retina Display doesn't have this problem.

indeeeed

I just bought a samsung 500 gb
I just put it in the computer about an hour ago.
I'm thinking about putting ubuntu on it.

Bought a kingston a400 and popped it in and nothing. Changed from efi to legacy and back again and nothing. In went the crucial and it worked like a charm. Hooked up the kingston to another computer via USB and used gparted and formatted it to MBR/NTFS and it worked. Am I a dunce or are kingstons not bootable from the get go?

RMA it.
It exists for a reason. HDDs are also sometimes bad out of the box.

how much?

what's a good program to test for bad block?

>bought A kangston a400 480gb as boot drive
>everything just works
>extract a 20gb huge bdmv rar
>75% complete speed dropped of a cliff
>pc stutters
>dramless ran out of swapping cache
reeeeeeeeeee

who the hell is that?

f3/hwtest specially if you think the drive might be a counterfeit
badblocks works too but it might not detect bad blocks on counterfeit drives

The joke that a cheap SSD must be bad because it has some remapped blocks

funny thing is I find the a400 more reliable.

Lots of older computers seem to have detection issues with many SSD, including Kingston's UV series, whereas the a400 works everytime.

So if you are replacing a traditional drive on a notebook or OEM PC, I'd take an SSD that works over one that might not.
