I want to change my G4560

Should I get i7 7700 or i7 7700K?

Why do you ask such a stupid ass question?
It's a matter of "do I want to oc or not" and or "is the 1% more performance by default worth the extra bucks"

You have to decide.

Be aware that a 7700K needs a substantially better cooler than a G4560, even at stock speeds. Pic related or similar for 5GHz. Also you'll need a z270 motherboard for any overclocking and depending on silicon lottery outcome you might need to delid for decent temps even with the monster cooler.

OP here, my current rig is an Asus Z270 prime mobo and I have a noctua NH-L9i fan. Would this be enough for a 7700k?

Fan with the cpu at stock? Maybe just.
Overclocking -NO

shit, okay if I REALLY wanted a 7700k right now, I can only use stock speed with my current fan. Can you recommend any good mid-range fans or heatsinks? Pic-related on previous post looks to bulky and high-end for my rig.

okay I'm looking at an NH-U12S, looks capable enough, and it won't take too much space on my tower. What do you think?

>wanting another quadcore when 8 cores will be obsolete by june

get a mugen 5 rev b.
There are better options other than noctua just like there are better options other than hyper 212s

>mugen 5 rev b.
amazon lists the "PCGH edition", is this rev b or a different model?

Single thread on a single core performance still matters to some of us. Can't go wrong with a 5GHz 7700K.

>i7 7700k
>7th gen cpus
>quad core at best
HAHAHAHAHAHA

Get a ryzen 7 2700x
if you are that desperate for intel get an i7 8700k or i7 9700k
more cores and better performance for the same price

Overclock: K
no Overclock: non-K

Wouldn't recommend buying a 7700(K) though, already has a successor and Ryzen beats it.
Only buy one if you get it really cheap.

I have a Z270 board, how the fuck am I supposed to use 8700K let alone 9700K?

Well, he already has the mobo. Switching wouldn't be cheaper in that case. A 6700k or 7700k is a pretty big step up from a G4560.

Intel is bumping the core count to 10 and 12 cores on their next lineup and AMD to 12 and 16. If you want pure single thread performance you don't need an i7. Get some overcloable i3 or something you coping corelet.

the amount of retards on this board is honestly staggering

Buy a motherboard that is compatible
OR
you can buy an am4 motherboard for ryzen for around 60 dollars

Quad cores are already dead in the water for gaming and for productivity

Feel free to go back anytime.

>mfw the 7700k still destroy everything Ryzen has to offer

400 bucks for 20% more performance!
how can you possibly lose?
retard

they still have the audacity to charge that much for a 4c?

You can get a new ryzen+motherboard combo for the same price as a 7700k. Just do that instead. It's more hassle but worth it.
