The gist of it is that certain features like facebook login buttons aren't working while blocking their trackers. People were complaining so they took the easiest route and whitelisted them.
After some backlash they announced to find a better solution in the future. You'll probably get prompted to whitelist the trackers once you use one of the broken features for the first time.
