Even with DirectX 9/OpenGL 2 we were gettingrealstic graphics with Crysis. All the recent revisions in APIs were optimizations. RTX won't be fullt relevant until real-time path tracing for complex scenes becomes a reality, and I'm not even sure if it will be possible considering you can't die shrink your way to more performance.
