Is emacs a meme?

Is emacs a meme?
There's absolutely no way someone looking to jump text editors would choose to adopt an autistic operating system replacement and cult-like lifestyle choice just to edit text.
And for someone completely new to emacs, they'll be chased away by the hour-long "tutorials screencasts" on youtube that do nothing to actually show you why emacs is worth using over simpler editors like notepad++ or even vim.

>Is emacs a meme?
not as big a meme as vi

JUST USE NANO LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE IS A MEME

What exactly is Nano good to write? A shopping list?

>actually show you why emacs is worth using
Emacs users constantly dance around the specifics of why Emacs is worth using because there is none.

>is emacs a meme?
Absolutely not. It's objectively the greatest editor out there.

>imagine your future when not being enamored with emacs and maths

I saw an Emacs guy pass his interview once, he was hired striaght into a lead position and drove everything he touched into the ground because he just wasn't practical.

Emacs is real software. It has real features, real extensions, a real programming language, and is used by real people for real projects, unlike Vi and Vim which are too obsessed with weenie traditions like preserving bugs and inventing new weenie extension languages because C and the shell suck. Vim extensions suck so much they slow down and freeze your computer when an IBM mainframe from the 70s with 16 MB of memory could run 17,500 3270 terminals at once.

Appropriate since Emacs is so gay

Funny how Emacs users are always so insistent that their editor is everything it isn't, must be insecurity.

Not him but fuck you, you are implying things not said.

See a psychologist if this impacts you that much.

cute boy

Same if you feel like insulting people on the internet fulfilling for your sad life.

...

>being this gay on my mongolian basket weaving 4channel
Shut up faggot

>insulting again
Jesus man, you must be through a bad moment on your life if that is all you have to raise your self esteem.

Emacs is whatever you want it to be. Embrace the Emacs

Thanks but I don't want to build my own editor from scratch.

GNU hurd + emacs is the original TempleOS.

You're talking to two different people

I'm someone completely different, that was just really gay. Get downvoted dork

Sounds pretty niggerlicious to me

>samefagging like this

Then the Emacs isn't for you, and that's OK. But in order to understand what true power and true freedom is, one must master the Emacs.

Good, the hipsters can go use Vim.
>And for someone completely new to emacs, they'll be chased away by the hour-long "tutorials screencasts" on youtube
Hold the control key and press H. Everything in Emacs is painstakingly documented and the editor will give you a hint whenever you ask.

Then install the terminal only.
