What font configuration looks better on your monitor? Left or right?

right

...

no u

Left is SIGHTLY less blurry but they're almost completely identical.

I honestly cannot see the difference on my monitor.

left looks better on one monitor, right looks better on the other.
First monitor is a Dell E2211H and second is a Dell E2210H
Both are 1920x1080 IPS panels

i cant see the difference

What is this color scheme called?

Look at the ñ in "pestañas", they're different fonts.

It's Dracula, but with a darker background color.

right?
font and gtk theme please?

The GTK theme is Numix. The icons pack is Numix Circle. The font is Fantasque Sans Mono.

both looks the same
also you should use hack, best font imo (for code and terminal at least)

thanks ramirez, nice set up

>its round corners are a literal white pixel
LMFAO the absolute state of freetards
also right

Isn't it just different sub-pixel rendering?

Yes, the only change between both screenshots is the font smoothing.

>LMFAO the absolute state of freetards
It's supposed to look good for the user, not in screenshots to post about your new virus-free Mac on Facebook.

That was actually added by the app I used to make a screenshot of the windows.

right
>cs50
is it any good?

It's bretty gud for a brainlet like me.

>float dollars
>using floating point numbers for currency

Left. Less blurry. What fontconfig are you using for that?

Both have this weird blur and feel like they're playing tricks on my eyes, but I like the boldness more of the right.

Thiss

Why can't browsers respect your fontconfig? Fonts on Firefox and Chromium look like absolute ass even tough they look fine everywhere else. That is the only thing that bothers me to no end in Linux.

Stop using shitty fonts that need hacky tweaks to display properly.

I suggest MS Arial

I've tried the Microsoft fonts and they still look like ass. I've tried Dejavu, Liberation, Noto Sans and probably some others. I just gave up at this point.

>fonts that need hacky tweaks to display properly
You mean literally all fonts designed for modern rendering? Turn off ClearType and see if it still looks as good.

Linux font config is shit. It's no wonder a rich text program would want to write their own font renderer, so it actually looks good

Why does the program's font rendering look like ass then?

>so it actually looks good
Modern Freetype looks gorgeous, unironically one of the best parts of desktop Linux. Web browsers make it worse, not better.

Hidpi rendering works like complete garbage. Atleast in the base gtk toolkit

It's weird because the defaults on many distros are shitty.

I'm trying Manjaro KDE and the font config is not pleasant. Not at all.

Did you disable the font smoothing?

The smoothing is fine, it's the sizing, you either have to scale the display up and it looks like ass or you have to increase the font and the icons/padding don't scale with it. Firefox on the other hand, Just Works.

Right for sure
