Redpill on STAX for newbies: STAX is an old Jap company with outdated tech that was considered high end back in the 1960s and 1970s but sounds like ass by today's standards, so they went nearly bankrupt. They were purchased by a Chinese company for just a million dollars who decided to market STAX to the audiophool "more expensive is better" demographic who buys those crappy $3000 vinyl players, they shill heavily on HeadFi and here on /hpg/, plus they pay Zeos to shill their crap.

>In December 2011, Chinese loudspeaker manufacturer Edifier announced the acquisition of 100% equity in Stax

Oratory has measured the highest end STAX, the SR-009S.

It's worse than the HD600. HD600 scored 92 and SR-009S scored 76.

Recently Rtings rated STAX across various dimension, it's worse in terms of sound than mid-priced offerings from Hifiman and Audeze, and only got a 7.7 rating.

To add insult to overpriced injury, they have shitty plastic build quality that you would expect on cheap chinkshit headphones:

Even best Stax headphones sound objectively worse than mid-fi. This is why they don't demo them in store, they rely on the internet to create a sense of mystique around STAX and shill it as the endgame because its expensive, Asian, rare and obscure. In reality its no bass sounding garbage, with shrill highs that appeal only to near-deaf boomer. STAX is Made in China snakeoil for the audiophool.

How are Audeze LCD2C? I hear mixed things about them, though I’m primarily concerned with their performance with Retro-Synth and Industrial music. How do they do with those genres?

Sterdenn soundtrack on my Beyer DT770s

They're great for those, but not so much for anything that relies on the high frequencies. They're quite laid back.

Define “laid back”. Sorry, not too in on the terminology. I only got in on this around a year ago.

8khz-20Khz are quieter than a neutral headphone

I find most neutral headphones to be quite fatiguing. They hurt my ears after about 10 minutes of listening and I'm not even listening at loud volumes. I can only listen to laid back headphones. Are stax considered laid back or would I consider them too fatiguing?

Thanks. I don’t even think I listen to music that reaches that range. Some of the highest sounds I listen to are on chiptune, and I don’t even think they go quite that high.

get an analog sound level meter and check if your headphones are exceeding 80db. I find myself turning the volume up on dark sounding headphones more than detailed ones

wait Stax correct your vision too?

A lot of people are sensitive to high frequencies so something like the LCD2C is good for long listening sessions, although they can come off a "veiled" if you listen to more treble heavy cans like the 1990 Pro.

Any recommendations for wireless IEM's? My OnePlus Bullets wireless just broke on me and I need something to replace them with. I'd prefer something that charges with USB-c and is sub $100 if possible

Yes I agree with your review of this most wonderful product. STAX is the state of the art in earspeaker technology and a blessing of sound to the ears of all fortunate music lovers.

The great frequency of sound is best among all alternatives, one must hear it. I couldn't believe how great Stax sounds! It is a wise purchase.

AirPods

looking for some advice on what headphones to look into, i just bought a schiit jotunheim with the DAC and figured id like to get some nice headphones to use with it but I really have no idea where to start

>Budget
under $500
>Location
USA
>Source
schiit jotunheim, digital music mostly but maybe vinyl soon
>Type of headphone
overear
>Open or closed
not too sure, leaning towards open because i dont like the idea of not being able to hear whats around me even at home
>Comfort level
ideally something pretty comfortable
>Sound signature
neutral
>Past headphones
nothing, i mostly listen to music with mackie mr-5 monitors

i listen to a lot of electronic music mostly, drum and bass, jungle, breakbeats, that sort of thing, so something that sounds good with this type of music is a must

>stax incels are literally on their last breath and lashing in death throes
another victory for beyerchads

Attached: 1536336194300.jpg (415x587, 120K)

ditch that jotunheim bullshit and get on board the KOSS train, find it on massdrop

Attached: ko$$-bo$$.jpg (1600x485, 98K)

i just wanted a balanced dac with xlr outs and volume control, it does exactly what i need it to, and it sounds pretty good compared to the dogshit onboard audio on my computer. what headphones should I look into? are stax the only worthwhile option?

Are planars good for Vidya?

forget what i said get the dt770

Beyer DT990 or AKG K712

>jotunheim
I don't want to rain on your parade but did you make some research before buying it? They don't measure well. (or was is Yggdrasil? i dont remember)

yes I did the research, i know its not the absolute best of the best. but it comes with everything i wanted and it seems like a great place to start. I know it gets memed back and forth but so far im really happy with what i bought.

thanks, ill look into those. how do they sound with electronica? pretty good?

DT990s sound great with most EDM, as do the K712s. K712s are a pretty good bit flatter, though. Much more emphasis on the mids. 990s have massiv brass and treble, but kinda recessed mids.

yeah bro the dt770 is LIT

i mean bass obviously has to sound good but i dont want it too overpowering, because im into a lot of like the later 90s kind of stuff where theres a lot of mids and treble aswell

staxchads always win baka nostaxer

Attached: 1554945464869.png (633x707, 441K)

Then the 712s would probably suit you better.

STAX “”””””””””Chads”””””””””” haven’t won since the ‘70s.

Why is /hpg/ so popular on Jow Forums instead of a audio or speaker general?
I thought Jow Forums was mainly smart people with good income, who own their own residence, not people who live in flats/apartments that can't use or afford good speakers and amps?

Attached: ....png (402x469, 166K)

K712s have good sound overall? nothing too heavy? hows the comfort?

daily reminder to just use ur phone lol

They’re bulky, but comfy. Overall sound is pretty well-rounded. They have very good bass and mids, and decent treble.

get pic related, literally endgame unless you have autism

Attached: 1539032018213.jpg (1500x1000, 231K)

Is it possible to use a 4pin xlr cable with these? is the wiring setup internally to be balanced?

what are those?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=QxIeFcoT5_4
712s are pretty close to the 702s, so this should work.

What would be a noticeable upgrade from Tin T2s up to 200 gold? Kanas Pro? Don't really like the shiny mirror polish though.

Beyerdynamic DT1990.

Thanks user, I will look into maybe getting these
these look pretty nice too, what can you tell me about them?

They’re essentially DT990s but without half of the problems 990s have. Unfortunately, they’re $600, which is out of your price range.

Im willing to spend a little more for something worthwhile though. those look really nice and i may consider them too

sure why not

They are very nice, but have a very V-shaped sound. They don’t have the piercing treble of the 990s and the mids are a little less recessed, but still not emphasized. I haven’t listened to them much, only demoed them once, so those are just initial impressions. The strongest point of these is the build quality, which is almost entirely metal. They can stand up to tons of abuse.

build quality is always a feature. Im not super autistic about music, but I would really just like a nice pair of headphones. How do you think they sound for electronic music?

I actually listened to
m.youtube.com/watch?v=hQrq1TMK7dM
When demoing them, and it sounded pretty great.

Attached: fuck stax.png (581x668, 32K)

yes I may have to look into those further as well. thanks user

Well, it’s getting really late for me, and I’ve got to haul wood tomorrow. Good night, user.

>Im not super autistic about music
Just spend like $200 then lol

Headphones are better than speakers in ever conceivable way though.

right now user, whats listening with?

Attached: CD00673A-46D4-4BD0-A07E-9E6B08DA1446.jpg (2719x2431, 1.6M)

Is this what /hpg/ tards actually believe?

Attached: 1554942762252.jpg (410x557, 31K)

They deliver sound quickly and have great clarity so fast music sounds great on them, the bass is also as good as it gets on open-backs.

>staxIncels finally being btfo
feels good. finally some user can shitpost harder. can we finally get our general back?
