I am on Linux. I have a virtual machine running Windows 7. Maybe 10 tabs open in my web browser. Perhaps VLC media player playing music. After all of this, I am almost using 8GB of RAM. I need breathing room. 16GB is no meme, it will be standard very soon.

I am running Aster and a Minecraft server as a service. I kind of wish I had more.

Gaming doesnt require more than 8 gigs. As consoles only allow 4 gb ram to be used by games, so console ports to PC also use 4 gig max. Only game I've seen go above is divinity original sin 2. At 5 point something.

there are plenty tests that show some games run out of 8gig and it bog them down, not even counting modded bloat
and consoles are irrelevant you should be smart enough to understand it
