I wanted to record my voice, but instead of getting a new mic, I tried using a 58 SHURE microphone I had into my SHURE X2u, but the result was shit. The next day, I noticed videos where delayed playing by a few seconds, and local movies froze even longer.
So, I tried to fix it myself. Long story short, my PC crashed twice trying to load YT videos, then crashed as soon as the boot up happened, and when it stabilized, I get pauses and freezes on videos, my CPU usage is being used much more than usual (by pic related), boot up takes many more minutes, and I can't connect to the wifi using my card, only now with an external Ethernet device.
I've noticed that my volume icon is gone, and will not show (It's not active), and I can't hear windows error sounds, but videos sound fine, but with the aforementioned stops and starts.
Noob question about bank switching:
Say you have a computer that supports bank switching.
Does the whole board have multiple banks that you can switch between, and then each bank has some devices routed into it, or is the whole board one bank with all the devices on it and then each individual device has its own set of multiple banks that you can switch between on a per-device basis?
Is it always one or always the other? Or does it depend on the computer in question? Or is it sometimes / always both at once (i.e. devices spread across multiple global banks, some devices having their own local switchable banks)?
Do I really need to disconnect my laptop battery if I going to replace its screen?
>Is bluetooth botnet?
Not as in spyware used by CIAniggers. It can be exploited by actual niggers (blackhats) though.
Is this a scam for 900 euro?
The seller has very 500 positive reviews and not a single negative one and they seem to all be real, but i'd still like to know Jow Forums's take.
haven't built a PC in a whole, and couldn't tell you the nuances of used PC pricing on ebay, but that graphics card, new or used, can be about half or more than 900$ alone. Granted, it's euros and I've never bought used PCs on ebay, but it just kinda sounds sketchy to me based on the pricing.
Stop posting this faggot shit
hide and sage
pedonigger
Hmm you think so? I've seen used 1080s for 300-350 on ebay.
Tell me the source of this milky boy so I know its relation to computers.
why wouldnt you
Where is Synaptic's Package Information stored?
I wanna get a laptop for uni and programming.
My old one was slow as fuck with database building.
Anything I should look out for, what brands should I go for.
because I could save time by simply having the laptop off while I work?
best android app for Jow Forums?
Let's say if I have a PHP form that sends inputs into a SQL table with a character limit (e.g varchar(50)), what would happen if I submit a value which is over this limit? Also, how could I handle this error?
The internet, and wherever apt does it. I'm pretty sure that just means to refresh the list of packages, in case you installed something in a separate terminal window or you left synaptic open for a while and a new package version came out in that time.
Darn, was hoping it would save some of that info to hard disk so I could transfer it. My wifi is fucked on one of my PCs and its annoying finding all the dependencies manually.
Can anyone enlight me in layman terms on why this happens or what might cause it?
I have an average speed of 80-90mbps with peaks around 100.
Sometimes it drops down to 40, and everything is affected, from loading sites and images to direct downloads.
What's weird though is that at times sites and images are incredibly slow to load(much slower than when it drops to 40), but direct downloads are unaffected, and the measured speed is indeed still at 80-90.
I think this is not something cause by my computer or anything like that, because when it happens it does on all devices regardless of OS and browser used.
Any ideas?
I need help please. Whenever I fullscreen a video on my desktop, the video quality becomes pixelated. My monitor is 3440x1440. I have the monitor drivers and GPU drivers up to date. It’s not my internet because everything is loading pretty quickly. It only really gets worse when I full screen
how do I into hwidgen?
Your ISP it's throttling (actually QoS'ing, ie. de prioritizing) certain file types at peak usage hours
I apologise for asking this here. I know it's more suited to /mu/, but that board is dead and I can't get a straight answer out of the few who do respond.
What guitar would you recommend for an absolute beginner who wants to learn how to play? Preferably one that costs no more than $400AUD.
What media player are you using? Try using MPC-HC and see if that fixes it
>at peak usage hours
it only happens at night though
What winetricks should I install to get most windows programs and games working in wine? Should I install vulkan from package manager or get it elsewhere? Should I use proprietary or foss graphics card drivers?
Would it be a bad idea to buy a delidded CPU?
The seller seems trustworthy, but i wonder if there's any issues that the delidding could cause down the line.
I actually meant youtube.
Please don't make fun of me
oh, you're fucked, the only way to fix that it's to use an external player like MPC-HC with youtube-dl or mpv with youtube-dl
Someone please explain chrome browser variations.
There's options somewhere to increase the resolution.
Is there a calendar app that notifies you of the holidays and observances of each day if there's one?
I need one to know if there's a holiday going on on each day, and opening Google Calendar daily is not really efficient.
What can I start reading if I want to make code in c/c++/c#/whatever/ that reads the RSSI of all avaliable access points and print out in a text file the mac, rssi, timestamp, number of the scan?
Is there a way to unlock a Samsung phone without knowing the password/pattern? Could I go to the carrier and ask them to unlock it for me? I know I could flash it but I need the data intact.
>inb4 give it back Jamal
Okay so CIAniggers don't use JewTooth to spy on me? That's exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks Terry. RIP king.
I'm trying to solve aka bruteforce some Project Euler problems using a jupyter notebook in a local jupyter lab server.
Problem is the code is running for several minutes but it's not taking much of my RAM or CPU. It would probably speed up quite a bit if it did grab more RAM, so what could be the problem?
I'm only using 1.5GiB RAM out of 8.
buy a nylon string guitar first, cheaper and easier to learn with.
I'm new to Linux, trying to learn the ropes. i want to us wal to set my terminal colors to match my wallpaper. It works, except it doesn't save them. It changes the colors of whatever terminals are open, but if I open any new ones (in this screenshot, the neofetch window) it goes back to old colors. Am I just retarded? How do I get the colors to stick?
Yes, I'm stupid but not that stupid. I can see the resolution options.
I will try to figure out how to do that. Thank you user.
>I'm new to Linux
>using no DE arch
anyways save the image path in a file, grab that path from that file in the .bashrc and do what you want to do with it. Whenever you want to change the path edit the file, or automate it somehow.
The colors get saved to ~/.cache/wal/colors.Xresources. There are multiple ways you can go about making them stick but i like to just set the .xinitrc to xrdb [that file] rather than just xrdb .Xresources which is how most people do it
...
>>using a no DE arch
Figured it'll force me to learn. And it's fun learning how to do all this stuff from a terminal.
Got it working, appreciate it.
Would it be possible to run an amd card at the same time using nvidia card for pci passthrew?
Take out the memory card
It has no memory card. I guess I'm shit outta luck
Not so stupid, but I'll ask here - How to find out the exact date of installation of a Windows os?
I am finally biteing the bullet and migrating to windows 10.
Does g have a anti privacy guide other then just installing LTSB?
I'm using a free Pro key from uni so is there any guides for groups policies to disable all the shit?
google your question, word by word, and you'll get your answer as the very first result
Brute force it.
Usually the patterns used are simple.
Just give the phone back to who you stole it from.
Does it matter which guitar in particular, or any will do as long as it's got nylon strings?
Isn't the driver support for ltsb shit ?
Not really. You sometimes just have to get drivers directly from the distro.
What is the best free malware scanner for Windows right now that is least likely to pick up on false positives? I just want to scan my entire data drive before I reinstall windows on my old ass OS drive so I don't bring a bunch of potentially dangerous shit with me.
Whats the best WM for Arch? I really like the oldschool look of Mate it reminds me of windows XP. I liked windows 7 but desu windows xp is where my heart belongs.
So is Mate the best?
Malwarebytes
Is there a way to unfuck Youtube's shuffle system, or some other site that can load a playlist and shuffle it properly? I have a playlist of almost 3,000 songs and it only ever grabs the first 100.
And CCleaner
I want to milk that milky bois boi milk if you know what I mean
CCleaner scans for malware?
I run it after I run Mbyets (w/ rootkit scan) at the repair shop I work at. Just tidies up unnecessary files.
Pardon me for the dumbass question, but I torrent a lot of music, pdfs and movies. I was wondering if there was an android app I could use to access my computer like a media center if I was on the couch or at work.
You should not use a Registry cleaner like CCleaner. At best it will save you an irrelevant amount of disk space and at worst it can do some random fucky things.
Just use Window’s built-in disk cleanup. CCleaner is bloatware for retards who don’t understand Windows.
Plex
Is there any way to get noscript or uMatrix working on Palemoon? I just installed it and couldn't find it on their addons page. :(
Firefox addons are now written as webextensions, palemoon does not plan to support these.
It amazes me how few people get this. It's the kind of bullshit you'd expect people to roll with back in 2005.
Why the fuck do you need both?
Bummer.
Up there with all the other random “PC Optimizers” that do absolutely nothing meaningful but are incredibly effective at irreparably breaking something later on.
so my monitor is running a custom resolution (1280x1024 @ 77hz) in game csgo doesnt feel like its running at 17hz faster, is there a way to check the actual fps in game, csl_showfps and +graph only show the amount being rendered
Bitdefender has pretty high scores. Avira has done pretty well since it ate AVG. Why are you worried about false positives? If you're just doing a one time scan, you can just ignore or double check anything that comes up. Also there's no dis incentive for you to run multiple, since you're not going to have them on your rig when you're done, although, mwb + anything else with decent rates is probably about as good as you'll get, since most of them have fairly redundant databases, and if a virus escapes one of them, it'll likely escape them all.
Did they give you pro or education?
If you're talking about using one in a VM and one in a host OS, the combo is fine.
Turn on V-Sync and check FPS
thank you so much. turns out my old 60hz monitor can run 77hz @ 1024p
You might be able to do something with youtube-dl, though I seriously doubt it is actually possible, youtube it's a fucking mess
For general files you can set a Windows share and access it using something like the Asus File Manager, there's other file managers that can access Windows shares/Samba shares
That should work for the couch, but for work you won't get something easy to set up, your best bet it's using something like Syncthing-lite on your phone and Syncthing on your PC or just use gdrive
You can use Plex or Emby for music and movies, you can also playback from Windows/Samba shares using VLC for Android if you don't want to setup Plex/Emby and you are fine with just directories
For PDF's you can also use Calibre as server (it would do the same job Plex/Emby do) and FBReader on your phone
Is this LG guy full of shit? I thought displayport 1.2 could do 4k 4:4:4 HDR @ 60Hz.
fuck
This is why 1440p continues to be master race. Give it another 5 years and maybe the minimal benefits of 4k will no longer be offset by such heavy penalties in hardware and media transmission.
I have to use a very unfortunate network setup at my house and it's having issues for seemingly no reason. The following setup used to work but ever since we replaced the first router, it longer works:
modem -> router -> port switch -> router -> my PC
However, the following setup works just fine:
modem -> router -> port switch -> my PC
My question, why won't the first setup work? Windows troubleshooting says it's a DNS issue but I have no idea.
240hz mustard race. shame theres no new 240hz monitors coming out
Your setup is pain. Why do you need two routers?
What do I need to look into if I want to have my own cloud storage? I want to be able to share data between all my devices in all the places I go to.
It's a shared accommodation setup. The modem is a piece of shit and can only have one cable coming out of it. The second router is mine, the first one is just to get shit split out of the modem.
nextcloud
>The modem is a piece of shit and can only have one cable coming out of it
That is literally how all modems work.
Having two routers acting as routers is bad. Double NATing means more latency, harder time connecting in games, VOIP etc. Stick your best router at the modem, use as many switches as you need from there. If you need more wifi points thats a different thing.
I can draw you a diagram of the fucking ghetto setup if you want? Basically this connection is being shared between several different buildings and needs at least 3 routers.
I'll believe that it needs 3 Access Points, not 3 routers.
Bridge mode.
Explain further please
Put the other routers into AP/bridge mode, so that the modem-connected router handles all the routing. Devices will see each other across buildings, but that's what VPNs are for.
This small company wants to get rid of their prehistoric server (Windows Server 2003), but want to keep sharing files between their office computers (4-6 PC's) as well as having access from outside (e.g. smartphones) but this is not essential.
What would you suggest? Cloud services? It is a company so they need some security as well, therefore services like Dropbox are discarded.
They want it cheap, free if possible.
Oh, I forgot the pic. I know you want it.
office365 with sharepoint.
