I don't know how you guys do it

There's so many options for monitors.
2k
4k
1440p
144hz
22 inch
25 inch
ultrawide
curved screen

so many options.

How the FUCK did you choose yours?

>1440p
>144hz
Here

now what size, curved or noncurved

You literally pick the one you like and have enough money for.
I also recommend VA panel of it has good reviews.
Generally speaking curved looks a little bit better from one angle and much worse from every other.
Ultra wide only worth it if you feel like you lack horizontal screen space.
Size is literally a matter of personal preference. Many like 27".

144hz is a meme
Also curved is shit

You decide which size is better, the rest doesn't really matter if you are not autistic

27. Jeez user this isn't hard. And if you want to game it's perfect because it's well supported and can be run with modern gpus. Ultra wides have FOV issues that sometimes never get patched. Still I've had my monitor for 3 years now and really want a 4 k 120hz model that we we're promised years ago

>2k
Obsolete unless you plan to cheap out on the GPU
>4k
Useless unless you plan to buy an RTX 2080Ti and giving up on high-refresh rate
>1440p
Sweet spot right now
>144Hz
Comfy and don't fall for the 240Hz meme
>22 inch
Unfit for 1440p or higher
>25 inch
Bare minimum for 1440p
>ultrawide
Pure meme
>Curved
Meme for Zoomers

1024p squared
Here you go nigger.

1024x768 85hz CRT

This ends all memes

First I check my budget

Then I check things, from most important to less: Size > IPS > Resolution > Refresh Rate > anything else

27 inch, not curved
Here you go, moron. Wasn't hard at all.

144htz 1440p 27 inch panel is the best for modern desktop usage

This, also flat. Anyone else who claims otherwise is a brainlet.
>inb4 16:9
16:10 is superior, but the market jews killed it.

>plays osu
>buy 240hz
that was easy

2 24in 1440p
Or one big 4k monitor

>24
brainlet

Easy. Don't go below 120 Hz, don't go as high as 240 Hz. If 1080p stick to 24". If 1440p you can go up to 27". Stay away from 4k if you want to play games and don't have a lot of money to burn. Unless you need the real estate because you edit video all day and stuff like that. And don't you buy a curved display motherfucker. IPS, VA or TN is personal preference.

1280×1024 100hz crt. Since 1999 don't cheap out on a crt user

Get 1080p for gayman. If you want to spend loads of money knock yourself out.

The perfect spot is 144hz 1440p 27'' IPS, but those are almost impossible to find and are always $500+

threw about a hundred at the wagecuck in charge of the monitor section and took the best screen I got offered.
got 10% off since it was the display model and 30 more because they were rolling in OLEDs back then and wanted to make room

just do it

4k 27inch ips, shits great.

If in doubt, 60Hz "1ms" 1440p. Here's why:
1.) 1440p vidya with no AA or 2X MSAA/FXAA looks better than 1080p vidya with 8X MSAA/FXAA because there's more detail displayed.
2.) To achieve smoother higher than 60 FPS you need a monitor that has response time 25% of the desired frame time. ie if you want snooth 144 FPS (~7ms frame time) you need to have 2ms or lower response time for smooth and clear motion. That "1ms" advertised frame time is usually just the minimum not even the average, a lot of "1ms" monitors actually have an average of 4-8ms GtG response times.

I personally like 24 inches. Makes everything look nice and smooth.

Look for monitors that cost $100. Find the one that isn't obviously shit (usually there's only one at that price point). EZ.

It solely depends on how far you're sitting away from your monitor.
I have a 31.5" one and initially I felt like it was uncomfortably big. But now I moved it an arm's length away from me and the size is just perfect.

Why would i need 144hz over, say, 75hz?

It looks better. It feels better too - even on Desktop, browsing the Internet and stuff.

Are you me?

The last one (LG Flatron E2342) I chose on the basis that my previous one broke unexpectedly and I needed a new one the same day so I just went to a tech store and bought the second cheapest one as a temporary fix that would turn out to be much more permanent than expected.

The upcoming one (Asus PG278QR) I chose on the basis that I want to try out 3D Vision, but there aren't that many 3D Vision ready monitors anymore, so I narrowed it down to the three or four 27 inch 1440p models and then picked the one with the best reviews.

Why are there no decent VA panel monitors at 144hz 1440p 27 inch? The only ones available are also curved. Should I just give up on good contrast and play the IPS panel lottery?

you sounds smart, i will take your advice. 1440p it is

3d vision? PG278QR has it? I don't see it listed in specs

for a distance of 60/70CM should i pick a 24 or 27?

arms length is ambiguous as fuck. Everyone has different length arms.

1080p 75hz freesync non-curved

>1080p in 2019

...

Isn't 2k the same as 1440p?

look at mr big pockets

28 inch, 4k, 60 hz, non-curved (U28E590D)
- 350 usd~

Don't really care about hz due 80% is photo editing and coding.

>Isn't 2k the same as 1440p?

>He thinks 1.4k=2k

>4k costs less than a 1440p monitor

what the fuck

This is a good post. 1440p 144Hz master race.

gayman: 1080p with 120hz+
productivity: ultrawide 60hz
curved is a matter of taste

And only 1 aspect ratio

I just bought 2 of the cheapest 1080p monitors (Acer K222HQL) I could find in a store I liked.

The monitors suck ass when it comes to colors and backlight, but if I'm working on something that needs good colors, I just do it on my laptop screen.
Basically I wanted extra monitors for more screen real estate, not anything else.

If I had a budget of 9999€, I would've of course bought some bigger and better 240hz ultra thin bezelless monsters, but I don't and I didn't.

1600p 30in is godlike

2k/3k/4/ refer to the horizontal resolution

Yes, 2k is 2560

Tried an aoc c24g1 and it was shit. Tried the msi mag241c and it was shit. Fuck VA panels in general. Now using an acer vg271u and it's alright. 1440p 144hz IPS feels nice.

The sad part is how shit support for multiple resolutions and text is. Wanted to get a 2k monitor with a higher refresh but the price is shit compared to 4k as if it matters on a small desk, but Windows eats ass mixing them.

I just got a set of Dell Ultrasharps I found on Craigslist

Two 1200x1600s and a 2560x1600

$100 for the lot

Great for gaming, great for productivity. Not 144hz tho.

I looks at what my budget for 3 monitors would be. I wanted IPS 1080p. The Asus VS239HP fit my budget handily. So I bought 3 of them.

People with a 144Hz screen, is the jump from 60Hz to 144Hz that big? Is it like going from 30 FPS to 60 FPS?
I tried playing League with a 144Hz screen at my local internet cafe and while I noticed some smooth, I don't think it's worth paying extras for

Yes, try it in something fast paced like an fps

60 Hz to 144 Hz is a much bigger jump than 1080p to 1440p

>refreshlets
