Quitting your job

If you quit your job and have handed in your laptop, are there still any legal obligations you your company?

I returned everything I owned from them and quit. I dont know what exactly happens legally from here, but I know HR already made an announcement that Im gone. They also tried to nuke my company email before they remembered just how many development related accounts are tied to it.

Now HR is asking me for the password to my laptop profile. I really dont want to answer.
1) its a password I used for multiple things
2) there is not much of value on the laptop anyways. All SSH keys and important passwords should be known by people
3) I dont want any of those baboons snooping my browsing history and seeing shit like Jow Forums or whatever fuck you

Am I obligated to give them password information? Its a slightly more complicated situation because HR is my friend from before the company. I dont want to be rude to her, but also, (4) our boss is a fucking psychopath and I seriously am D O N E with anything company related.

A good business should have had protocols in place to handle such requests before you left. You are not obliged to give them access to information by which they could inpersonate you.

To be fair, I didn't give them much of an opportunity.

Yesterday, the CEO of the whole show made his usual entitled comments and also rudely insulted me.

I waited until 11:30, went to his office where he was talking to one of the other 2 engineers (they are both junior, the other is on vacation). I said that I had worked 6 hours on the weekend and so I was calling it a day, having been in the office since 9:30. This morning I came in, handed HR my laptop, grabbed my items and left.

Which, again, is slightly rude of me, but I am so repulsed and otherwise anxious around the CEO that I wanted the break to be as quick and clean as possible.

Imagine unironically browsing four channel dot org on a company device

If you're so worried about them snooping your data, why didn't you remove the date/change the password before handing it in?

I did remove some files from my filesystem. Image files especially. I didnt need to change the password I guess.

I also uninstalled and signed out of chrome but I wasnt especially thorough

If you already quit, why are you assuming they can make demands? They should just nuke the HDD and throw in a new image. The laptop is back in usable state.

>too much of a pussy to confront the CEO or HR about rude comments
>instead of handing in formal resignations, just fucking leaves
