do you use software firewalls? i want to set up one to block Microsoft/other software from phoning home but i dont know much about networking (just know how to use basic functions of wireshark, IPs and shit)
is there some kind of guides on internet about this? and how do i pick a good one? (i dont want to pick one that is placebo under the hood)

Set the firewall to ask for your permission, it will randomly ask to allow connections to mibrodick adresses a trillion times, you just select create the rule and remember, or something like that, and thats all.
Also install "spybot anti beacon" to block telemetry

simplewall uses windows own block list, it just gives it a nice UI. The problem with it is that it constantly crashes and once it was eating 25% of CPU for no reason.
