Do you really need more than 60 fps and 1080p?

Do you really need more than 60 fps and 1080p?

yes. Anyone who thinks beyond a certain resolution/frame rate isn't necessary has apparently never used said frame rates/resolutions. 144HZ 1440p is sick.

Yes, I need 4k because it's the only resolution that doesnt look shit on 40"+ displays, and smaller displays are much less immersive.

I can't see 144hz though. I think it's mostly placebo.

120fps is quite amazing. It removes all inconsistencies that you can sometimes see in 60fps. I really don't think anything past 120fps would be needed at all.

Have you never played 120 or high refresh rate? It's a huge difference compared to playing at 60. Hell I have an older freesync panel that's only good up to 75HZ and I can see the difference there.

I play CSGO with 60 fps on a 60Hz monitor, and a quick turn makes the screen turns blurry for a microsecond. It really is distracting and also makes it hard for me to notice small targets in the blur. 1080p is more than enough, as many professional players actually play on 720p.
I also play Warcraft 3, where 60 fps is more than enough even on the highest levels.
Single player games are usually great with 60 fps.

I bet the same thing was said about 60fps

meant for this

nah because even back when people were playing on CRT's, they were playing with 85HZ or higher for fast paced games. That and yea, 60FPS coming from 30FPS is a HUGE change. If you honestly can't see the difference, you're blind. Now if we're talking the difference between 144HZ and 165HZ, or even as far as placebo 240HZ, then yea you're right.

24fps 720p is more than enough for my needs

yes, of course! dungeon crawl stone soup is absolutely unplayable at less than 120hz.

The difference between 30 to 60 is amazing, but the difference between 60 and 120 isn't as amazing. However, the difference is noticeable enough. I felt you could get into it more easily. Like with 60fps, if you move your eyes or head fast enough there's an oddness. That can be just across the screen.

>Hz

That should be at least twice the frame rate for it to work correctly visually.

Yeah I have at friends houses and it wasn't smoother to me. I usually don't notice the difference between 30/60fps video either. 30fps is actually playable for me if it's not a FPS, especially if there's motion blur. I like motion blur a lot, it's very realistic.

And no, I hate consoles.

Yes
Have you tried not being a poor?

240hz isnt placebo lol, you can see it and feel it. 144hz feels like 60fps lag shit

>likes motion blur
Ugh. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. Motion blur is disgusting.
I don't see. I mean I see it's smooth sure, but good luck actually maintaining 240 FPS. The amount of hardware you need to keep the FPS that high isn't worth it imo.

i can maintain above 240+ in wow and overwatch and cs and call of duty, fortnite. 9700k and a 1070ti.

i'm actually looking for any games that can maintain those framerates, even 2d games. a lot of games arent optimized for 240hz which is sad, I don't have fun playing below 240 because i can feel the choppiness. games with unlimimted fps like geometry dash are a trip. if you have the money it's worth it, i can't ever go back to 144

with what settings and resolution? I play WoW as well and see 165FPS with a 2080Ti and stock 1700X. I'm on ultra settings and 1440p.

>1700X
1080p, i set everything on low. my cpu is usually the bottleneck, so i can raise my graphics up until my gpu becomes the bottleneck, then i turn it down just a little until the cpu becomes the bottleneck again.
|textures and antialliasing do the most to make it look pretty

ahh I figured. I'm not willing to let go of graphics settings just yet. Also I'm waiting for AMD 7nm ryzen before getting something new. Otherwise I'd have the 9900k already.

Quick reminder that "1080p" and similar terms aren't resolutions. In this case all you're saying is "progressive scan, 1080 vertical pixels". But especially with ultrawide and superultrawide displays nowadays the terms are more ambiguous than ever. You could be meaning 1440x1080, 1920x1080, 2560x1080 or 3840x1080. Stop being a stupid zoomer and start saying resolutions the proper way.

interesting probably genetics or poor eyesight

i can tell 60/75 difference on desktop

how's the autism going?

After spending thousands of hours playing monster hunter on the 3ds. I honestly don't give a shit as long as it's more than 30fps and 360p.

fps doesn't matter unless you're a gamer that plays first person shooters. Higher DPI is always nice though.

even if we had 1000Hz screens and a steady 1000fps, most FPS gamers are fucking garbage and wouldn't show any improvement over playing at 60fps.

bigger number doesn't make you better. it just looks smoother, and benefits the 0.00001% of good FPS pros who actually need those extra frames.

good, cpu should definitely be your next upgrade. try low graphics and high fps for a day. you might change your mind

fps matters WAY MORE in a first person shooter. some pros play at 720p if they have a shit computer just to get more FPS.

I don't need anything higher than 1080p, but high refresh rates are nice.

I don't NEED any more than that, but playing first-person games in particular at 144Hz makes a notable difference. It's hard to explain the effect without seeing it in person, but it's like you're suddenly looking out of a window, rather than at a game on a screen. The fluidity and clarity when moving the camera makes it hard to go back to 60fps. Racing games also see a similar effect.

For most other games, it doesn't really matter to me. It makes very little difference in third-person titles except when panning the camera.

>at 720 if they have a shit computer
pros with the best gaming pcs money can currently buy play at 800x600 for that sweet 500fps

>Do you really nee...
Yes.
Fuck off, and be blind in front of an incoming train instead.

More than 60Hz? Probably not.
More than 1080p? Yes.

Is that 4k 27"?

1440p and 144hz is the sweet spot.
