How do you stop it from losing all your shit?

The Apple Macbook Pro with Retina Display doesn't have this problem.

Try to recover as much as you can. Make multiple attempts and see if you get more each time. I can't recommend any software but I can definitely say you can save a lot of your data if you act quickly.

Should i just buy a 1gb ssd before it corrupts all of my data

Only 1GB of valuable data huh.

a gun

more like don't want to spend that much money on ssds

keep backups retard

You fool. You should always have at least 1 backups, 2 optimally. Look at what happened to Barnacules...

is there any way to recover data from a dead hdd? I hear it trying to spin, but then it stops. I had good porn in there.

>Kept all his important data on a x4 Raid 0.

Attached: 1553735645650.jpg (500x374, 46K)

Do you remember what porn it was, yes? Chuck that HDD in the trash. Recovering data is only worth it for (and this is a key word) "unique" data. I'd be more worth it to find those videos again than to spend a fortune on recovering data that isn't unique or exist literally anywhere else but that HDD.

Give it a cozy home with its senpai in a NAS

I had a broken maxtor drive that played a little melody when trying to start it.

It's like the guy was asking for it

Finally, an excuse to buy my new old second hand computer, now let's see if that workstation is still available...

SSD:

Should've invested in a more stable HDD, man.

Attached: 1525512726529.jpg (1002x734, 109K)

There's videos on YT about how to fix it just long enough to back-up any usable data.

>chrome

How do you even live with 60gb hdd

I've got one indestructible 80 gig hitachi from the early 2000's that thing will likely outlive me.

backups make it go *click click click* faster

I had a drive start clicking in like 2009.

It finally, ACTUALLY failed in 2014. I used it as a temp/shit drive with no issues beyond the clicking which came and went intermittently.

Had 3 others just commit sudoku immediately though along the way.

At least everything is there and you won't up with corrupted data

So I harvested my Hitachi 80gb IDE HDD from our old family emachines computer from 2004. I boot it up from time to time, works to this day.

This guy is just stupid, I think they do this on purpose to get views, otherwise it is impossible.

>Used an x4 RAID 0 array
>"I put off making a backup for so long, it came to bite me in the ass"

How do you have a brain and you still don't backup important data in a RAID 0? Why even store important data in a RAID 0? God damn, the dude deserved that.

Holy shit imagine being this retarded

>ex microsoft
doesn't do backups of raid 0

I never heard that either, and I've had 2 HDD's die on me.

I think the most common way a HDD will die is due to the on board controller fucking up.

This. Every since I started using RAID10 I felt way more secure with my data. Yes I know RAID10 isn't backup, but the chances of a random HDD dying is far greater than my entire pool getting corrupted or some other weird OS issue.

I'm still rolling the dice with a Vertex 2. I've never used sleep/hibernate with it, so maybe that's why it's still working.

If you buy all of them from the same batch, your failure probability should also consider failing batches. If they're being used at the same rate concurrently, and they have some kind of design flaw, they'll probably fail around the same time, so if the second hasn't yet failed when you rebuild the RAID, it definitely will then.

Same, except it's a maxtor one. Those things either broke down in a year or lived on for eternity

What a fucking normie-tier shit-show of a channel. Do you guys unironically watch this?

Motherboard pop is scarier.

My 1TB WD Blue was clicking a bit last month, it stopped.

Really makes you think, huh?

Thanks SEAGATE,
now my files are "encrypted" forever.

Wow it's like flash ISN'T an archival format.

Makes you think, huh?

i have never ever ever ever had a hard drive die on me

AMA

How many dicks do you normally suck on average?

i have never ever ever ever sucked a dick

not even my own

You have to power them on from time to time.

Same with HDDs, you were lucky

>1TB WD Black HDD from 2009

Still going strong

Barnacules is Jow Forums incarnate. On the surface he appears happy and jolly but underneath he is in so much pain and has attempted suicide several times. His son also has the autisms.

These... mother... FUCKERS! If there ever was a series of hard drives to just cause rage it is these.

hard drives failing is a myth

t. didn't get a seagate hard drive that they sold even though it was damaged in a flood

Work hdd just failed. No clicks buts freezes every 10 sec
Windows warning: Hdd failure iminent. No backups. This is life

I still have HDDs from the 90s that work. Hell, over the years, I've only seen one fail.

Meanwhile, I've seen tons of people who buy fucking SSDs complain how they fail in just a few years.

I will never get a fucking SSD.

yeah SSDs are fucking overhyped by brainlet /v/ fags. especially the budget SSDs have severe reliability/longevity issues

seal it in a plastic bag & put it in the freezer overnight. re-connect it (while cold). you will get ONE more usage out of it, so have a plan of action for which files are most important to you, to save first.
good luck and godspeed.

I hate this fag and his thumbnails

has your laptop ever just randomly logged you into a "temporary" profile after booting up after working fine for five years before?

my old dell n5050 did it to me last night had to hard-reboot then everything went back to normal should I be worried that every-time I boot up my data will be lost to a dice roll?

I don't really have anything of worth but the old MS-DOS games I've collected over the years and the PS1 ISOs from emuparadise before they died

Made a computer out of spare parts for my cousin. Still going great for him. Though when I was using it the firmware corupputed itself.
