Flash has 8 more months of life.

What did Flash mean to you Jow Forums? Do you remember the first experience with flash you had?

Good riddance you piece of shit, I can't wait.

All I can think of is playing in highschool, instead of doing excel work.

Can't wait for Flash to die a horrible death

pool's closed

First time I ever programmed, I was in primary school at the time, my dad had a wallet of pirated software. I installed Macromedia flash professional 8, and immediately was overwhelmed with curiosity. I asked my parents for a book on Actionscript 2 and alongside online tutorials I began writing shitty games. Much of my code at the time was plagiarized and I really had no idea what I was doing but it really did act as a great introduction to programming.

Flash is just another security issue to be mitigated by complete removal, it means nothing to me besides being another annoying thing I removed.
>people stopped using flash
microsoft, google, ?mozilla? include it the browser because botnet must botnet

reminder that all flash file formats are open standards
flash can never truly die

I'm nostalgic for flash games and flash animations but other than that it deserves to die and it's about damn time.

>Flash is just another security issue to be mitigated by complete removal
It could be fixed in a while lot of ways, just like every other technology could. It might take redoing it from scratch, or sandboxing or whatnot, but if there's a will there's a way. But the only thing Adobe has a will to do these days is suck more and more subscription money from locked-in business and individuals. God, fuck Adobe so hard.

How can the numbers be so right but your opinion so wrong.

Because my opinion isn't wrong. Flash is nothing but a security issue to be mitigated.
Lets explore your fantasy world. Even if the rewrite where its Completely Secureā„¢, in less than a year they'll be exploits. They'll also start adding unsecure features just like they do originally and with everything else.

I still play a chinese flash game to this day. Infact, this year alone I spent around 300USD on it. If Chrome blocks it what are my alternatives?

How is it any less secure than anything else executed client-side? What are the obstacles to securing it that are not present for other technologies?
Flash is a useful tech that got bad rap due to misuse by users (let's do shit because we can mentality, leading to performance issues on toasters back in the day) and neglect by developers (leading to security issues and also partly responsible for shit performance). Both issues are also present in other currently used technologies and just as fixable.

>What did Flash mean to you Jow Forums?
endless updates and security concerns. im fucking glad its dieing, i havent had it installed in a few years.

>What did Flash mean to you Jow Forums?
DRM, malware, security holes, loud autoplaying animations, random megabytes of suspicious proprietary binaries executing whenever you browse to a web page, unnecessarily high CPU and RAM usage

Flash was the only way my machines ever contracted a virus (as far as I can tell).
Classmate gave me a CD with what was supposedly a Flash game.
Ran the game on Win95 as a regular user, and then it started rewriting all exe files it could get access to with malware.
I think he never graduated in the end, so everything is fine.

Fuck that guy. Fuck Windows. Fuck Flash. (Fuck young me.)

Flash is a proprietary blob that exists outside the DOM and thus outside the sandboxes in which your browser tabs live. It's desktop only, x86 only outside of ARM (((Chromebooks))), and is written in a memory unsafe language.

This.
>That one add with the emoticon yelling HELLO at you if you accidentally brushed over it with the mouse.
>Autoplaying flash ads with audio
>webpages would have dozens of flash ads and attempt to kill your CPU
Only thing that fixed it for me during that time was disabling flash altogether.

i have flash in a vm just for this
dog bless jsk studios

Truly flash's only purpose: porn.

you are replying to a literal retard dude more than 90 iq not possible

Every month or two this thread pops up and reminds me I don't have a flash plugin anymore.
And it's the only thing that reminds me.

As bad as Flash was, Electron and all the JS bloat were dealing with nowadays is 10x worse

>Flash is a useful tech that got bad rap due to misuse by users...
Flash got its deserved reputation for being a security nightmare by being a security nightmare. Pic related, shill.
And stop making fake agreement comments.
