Are there any Audiophiles here?

No.

Recovering audiophile here. Audiophilia is a mental illness. It completely sucks the joy out of listening to music.

Sure, what’s up

You cant hear the difference between flac and 320kbps ant that's a fact

You have to set goals and then stop when you reach them.

you can often hear the difference between CD and "file"

Yeah, there's a lot of gay people here.

this, audiophilia is mental illness

Heh... I once listened to music in a USD $10,000+ Home theater.
Nothing and I mean nothing ever came close to that.
So I sold my Fostex T50RP and settled for a Bosshifi B8

I was so obsessed I learned electronics. I built my own PCM1794 COD, I built my own amplifiers, speakers. It's a never ending cycle of "this is good, but I think I can make it better". Constantly focusing on where there might be flaws in the system and completely forgetting about why I'm listening to music in the first place.

That’s life, unless you’re a lazy shit for brain.

This. The CD player makes a sort of whirring sound that brings a certain warmth to the music.

The post processing in better CD players might make the difference.

Many poorly rendered flac and mp3s out there also.

you can, if you cant hear above 15khz its your own fault

High tier speakers aren't super expensive if you get them used in like new condition -- about $1000. Excellent amplifiers, also used, cost about $800 to $1200. After that, you're all set for 20-30 years.

accused but never convicted

If wanting the best quality for my money, yet still spending a somewhat more than my disposable income should allow makes me an audiophile.
