All I want to do is do some work on one screen while the kidlets playa game with controllers on another screen.
You think this would be simple, right?
I started by getting software that would maintain window focus and keep the game rolling while I did work, however the game would stop the controller inputs.
Then I looked for software that would allow me to direct controller inputs to specific windows / open applications. As far as I can tell, it doesn't exist.
Then I looked into hypervisors and wondered if I could run an instance of Windows to run office / web apps and pass the keyboard and mouse to it while not disturbing the controller inputs going to the kids games.
And before I went down that path I figured I would stop here.
This must be a common scenario and I am guessing some of you may have trodden this path.
Buy a second PC, you fucking jew. You can buy a lightly used Dell OptiPlex for under $300 that has a quad core 3GHz CPU, 8GB RAM, a 1TB HDD, and maybe a low profile GPU. And they come with Windows 10 if your IQ is below 90 and you can't into Kubuntu. If this isn't good enough for "productivity" then I don't know what is.
