We have privacy focused browsers en masse and marketing a browser because of a pre-installed extensions and a custom homepage is laughable (and according to a recent periscope stream they aren't even sure if they'll include Dissenter by default; probably to have a better chance to get their mobile version accepted in app stores).

I'd heard about the firefox ban of dissenter but not the chrome one, my chrome still has it installed so I guess they're not retroactively removing it for people.

I'm thinking about making the switch off Chrome, it's been great for a long time but this censorship has got out of control. I was frustrated when Adnausem was removed because that was a fantastic tool and idea to screw with the ad sales model and Dissenter was a great idea to deal with websites removing the ability for people to comment and thus question what was being said.

Long term I think we need a platform that's got free speech ideals built in at the bottom to support this new emerging tech.

This browser is the solution to the problem of not enough Jow Forums comments on every internet page.

Well in some sense it's surprising because at the end of the day google see a lot of value from tracking its chrome users and this is just going to drive people away from chrome. Long term the ad model is dead anyway.

It's not huge because free speech and censorship problems are a fairly new thing in the tech sphere and demand for solutions to these problems is something that has to gradually build. Gab recognize a growing gap in the market and they're getting in early to become established so when that demand grows to be substantial enough to make some money from, they'll be ahead of the curve.

Most notably this is happening in the political sphere, the tech industry is very left leaning, a lot of these tech giants have HQs based out of Cali and exist in this hyper left leaning bubble which is disconnected from huge swaths of the population. There's people with different ideas to them which they don't like and there's mass censorship to keep these ideas they don't like suppressed. It's that crowd who are now fleeing to free speech alternatives and those doing so will do it in larger numbers. The removing of this stuff from chrome isn't that surprising given googles far left ideological stances, this stuff is just a threat to their ability to control the dialogue.
