in other news, pic and link related also arrived aliexpress.com/item/4some-benis/32888725213.html the circuitry is just an unnamed microcontroller, the leds, a couple of transistors for current control, a couple of diodes for reverse polarity protection and miscellaneous smd caps and resistors. it only begins charging if both cells are inserted (2 per side, one led) and they are charged in series. it does monitor the voltage of each pair of cells but only the series voltage, not the voltage of each cell, so its not a good idea to mix aaas and aas in one side, or different capacity cells for that matter. charging current is as described in the listing, but it does seem to charge in impulses between 50% and 100% of the rated charging current. from what i can tell it ends the charging cycle via delta-v, but i havent really logged the voltage curve so i cant be sure if its just termination voltage after some time or really delta-v (is say its delta-v cause the charger cut off a while after the voltage started going down [measured the series voltage every 10 minutes or so with multimeter]) meh, seems to work, i think its better than just "a resistor" charger for most cases

It's main appeal is the solar panel on the back, haven't had a chance to use it since I've been inside mostly since I got it, but it's a cool feature to have.
My main gripe with this is that there's not lock button on this and you can turn the screen off outside of timeout and and putting it to sleep/off.
Other than that, can't listen to this thing with more than half it's volume, else I go deaf. Very loud on my ZS3, might get a ZSN later on, I expect them to sound even better then. It's UI is also very fast and seamlessly switches songs, but have only tried mp3, so I already know it will be faster/have similar speed to FLACs, but I would like to test APEs, which should be slower but I'd like to see by how much as an alternative to mp3.
Another con, tho. I only have songs on my SD and I plan to leave it that way. When you want to listen to music on it you have to go to the folder function and not the music player, maybe because I have them all in a folder and not on the root.
Still love it so far, tho. Light and powerful and would likely have no problem keeping it charged.
