1440p was a mistake

Attached: risoluzioni-1024x576.png (1024x576, 31K)

thanks for pointing that out captain obvious

1440p was never going to catch on because it can't cleanly display a 1080p image. 2160p on the other hand is the first resolution that can cleanly display both 1080p and 720p making it ideal for TVs.
What we really need for next-gen PC monitors is 4320p, as its the first resolution that supports both 2160p and 1440p and would allow for ~40" displays with 200% scaling.

Its good if you want a big (above 27") monitor. 1080p looks like ass at bigger sizes, but 4K tends to be expensive and doesn't run as well due to the stress on the GPU.

for what it's worth you can still consume 720p content better with it
but yeah it's shit

dual 16:10 1200p in portrait mode is all that you need, sorry if that upsets anyone but it's better to accept reality.

>1440p was a mistake
been saying that for the last 5 years

I never thought of that and found the post informative, suck my dick nigger.

>Hurr durr I didn't think about how I'd have either massive black bars or upscaling shenanigans for content consumption
The only point of 1440p was, as you said, high refresh rate for gaymers. However even that is null now, since 1440p 144hz panels with good colour gamut coverage and HDR are basically the same price as 4K 144hz with 90%+ DCI-P3 and the like, and with those if you can't hit 144hz at 4K you can just do 1080p for perfect display upscaling (since just double everything).
1440p is dead

>buy something made for gamers
>WTF DUMB GAMER SHITHEADS REEEEEE
Go be a virtue signaling retard back on reddit

>>all software and websites are optimized for 1080p, with 4K being a 2:1 linear scale of it
Everything can fucking scale so this is a zero issue.
>>most youtube channels either go up to 1080p or right to 4K. almost none offer 1440p as their max
Due to youtubes shitty compression you want the highest quality even if it is above your resolution anyway, because it'll look better than the version that is your resolution.
>>films and shows also go straight to 4K
So you benefit from having more than 1080 but you don't get the "full experience".
>>only gaymur shitheads appreciate 1440p as it gives the option for high refresh rate with current flagship GPUs
An actual reasonable argument for 1440p existing.

>imagine not having 3 4k monitors in 2019

>16:9
Like I said, accept reality, at least for your health.

>i'm sticking with a dumb format that nobody uses but it's the entire world who is crazy not me

Are you seriously shilling 16:9?

What's the ideal scaling that I should use in Windows when I have a 32 inch 4k monitor?
150%? 200%?

I bought a 4k 32inch VA monitor for $350.

1440p is the best gaming resolution. Even old cards like my R9 290 can pump out 60fps with 2x AA in most games. 1080p is old and busted, 4k is too much for current hardware.

A4 paper is 1:41:1, closer to 16:10 than 16:9 so it's better. 4:3 would also be better than 16:9. For work, 16:9 is terrible.

Thats nice, but what about scaling and performance? And refresh rates?

Is there even a 90-100% DCI-P3 1440p 144hz monitor with basic bitch """HDR""" (aka not really HDR, HDR400 or the like) for sub $500? Since any more than that you might as well go 4K

lolno

There was one on sale yesterday but you cunts bought them all in a day. I should have never recommended them.

LG 27GL850G-B will likely be the closest monitor to this, but it isn't out yet and will certainly cost more than $500.

5:4

With 4k ou could just run the games at 1080p with perfect scaling while having all the advantage outside of vidya.

refresh rate for games matter MUCH MORE than resolution in itself
That's why 1080p 144Hz sell better than 4k gaming monitors at 60Hz, along with the fact that 4k gaming is a fucking meme

3x1440p here. No regrets

Guess what's actually better? Having both 4k and 144hz.

4k "200hz" TVs are just doubly interpolated 50hz TVs
4k 144Hz monitor, as far as I remember, don't exist yet

is that the 16:10 ultrawide so it's something like a 29:10?

If only there was a way to find information about something on the internet.

>trusting things you read on the internet
user, I...

>choosing non standard things
>surprised to no be catered to

What's there not to trust? They've been in stores for years. Just admit you fucked up and move on.

There are some 4K 144hz (HDR gayming) monitors but they cost more than a car (in my country)

Your post makes me angry. Like turbomad.

Because here we have 1440p and 165hz monitors. if you care about graphics you can render at 75% and it's not so bad. Now the moment you try and do it with 720p, it should be perfect with 1440p but no-one caught onto integer scaling. Add onto it that most 1440p panels are 27" or so and it's worse.

It feels like the only thing going for 1440p right now is price point for high refresh rates. And that'll dry up in a year or two.

24" 4k masterrace here

1440p:
>integer scale of 720p, one of the most popular video resolutions for online videos and piracy
>integer scale of 480p, perfect for SD video and consoles running native resolution
>can still be viewed without scaling or with a small amount of scaling if you prefer
>144hz is very common
>perfect PPI for 27 inch displays

>Everything can fucking scale so this is a zero issue.
sadly there are games that aren't playable unless you turn off windows scaling

>perfect PPI for 27 inch displays
not really, bitmap fonts like terminus are too small to work with

32:9 biatch

You have all that resolution and you maximize your browser windows? Lol

>>all software and websites are optimized for 1080p, with 4K being a 2:1 linear scale of it
What the fuck are you implying, that you actually "maximize" windows in 2019?

Attached: jox4DAQ.png (1920x1080, 1.62M)

>basically thee same price as 4K 144hz

fucking where

Some people read articles, essays, manuals, sheets, and much more. Other people such as yourself wank to underage anime girls.

Why would articles, essays, manuals, sheets be adapted for a 16:9 1080p display?

I don't actually know many websites that are optimized for 1920 width. Most of them are still optimized for something like 1280. Which means that on 2560x1440 you can do PERFECT side by side browsing or tasking with 1280x1440 resolution each (lots of vertical visibility on websites). 1920 width only introduces wasted space on single window browsing, is too narrow for side by side browsing, and 3840 width is just 1920 width but with 200% DPI scaling. 4K desktop monitors are literally the world's biggest waste of money and processing power.

Get your eyes checked.

>buys 4K monitor
>"oh my god everything's so small"
>sets scaling to 150%
>monitor now displays the exact same amount of content as a 2560x1440, only with 50% higher PPI

Attached: 1520195294241.jpg (628x534, 58K)

>all software and websites are optimized for 1080p, with 4K being a 2:1 linear scale of it
What are you even trying to say, you drooling retard? If a website was "optimized for 1080p" (lol), it would be "optimized" for any 16:9 resolution, including 1440p. Why are you people so fucking stupid?

>wangblows
>scaling
Yeah, good luck with that, faggot. It looks like absolute shit at the best of times.

>t.

Attached: t.jpg (450x323, 15K)

4k looks better than 2560x1440.

This is W10 at 225% scaling. Looks good to me. Post a pic of yours.

Attached: 343243.png (3840x2016, 1.68M)

I'm not that guy but I'm using 4k 24" screen and windows 10 has really bad scaling.

It has like 4 different scaling modes and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. It varies between the apps. Modern browsers scale very well on all operating systems.

Current I use linux + dwm and I have no problems with scaling whatsoever.

MacOS > Linux > Windows 10

l m a o
that's less screen estate than 1080p

I've never had issues with scaling on W10.

Attached: 435435.png (1921x1253, 263K)

Yes... that will happen when you scale that much. It was showing how W10 scales.
Here it is at 150%.

Attached: 342343.png (3840x2061, 1.37M)

>he doesn't use native 100% scale

Attached: 2019-04-27 09_54_58.png (3840x2125, 2.09M)

No, faggot, that's your web browser at 225% scaling. Scaling of other programs inside Windows itself is absolute fucking dog shit.

You're either a fucking liar or an actual Pajeet shill. Windows scaling is notoriously shit. This isn't in question.

8k gaymin will be awful fps wise

If that happens watch a chink company release a 2880p monitor

It's scaled through the OS. So was this

>Windows scaling is totally fi-

Attached: dpi-scaling-creators-update.jpg (1510x1009, 817K)

You literally paid a premium you will never use
Yet the price difference for a 1080p60 PC and a 1440p120 PC might as well be double
But it's actually affordable when compared to 4k60 or even 4k120 which might as well not be achievable

>But it's actually affordable when compared to 4k60
4k60 and 1440p144 are pretty similar honestly.

I play 1440p144hz 27" for FPS games, and then I have a 4k60hz 43" for Civilization, total war, and Skyrim.

>you can render at 75%
Scaling so shit you might as well consider 720p

¯\ _(ツ)_/¯
Scales fine here. Even when scaling to the extreme.

Attached: Clipboard01.png (3840x2160, 1.45M)

Or no aliasing at all

you literally didn't prove anything, show the hover popups in the system tray. Or desktop icons.

You know, like the picture specifically points out.

>2009

>2012
>Apple releases Retina Macbook Pro
>2014
>Apple releases 5k iMac
>2019

>2016

>instead of easily disproving it if he could, he just points out the date as if it invalidates anything

It does invalidate things. Tool tips and desktop icons scale fine in 2019.
I'm assuming the office software scales fine these days too, but I'm not a cubicle cuck.

Do you have screen tearing?
I kinda wanna do a setup like that with a 1440p120 monitor and a 1080p60 but I hear there's some weird fuckup around it

lel, I don't have watermarks on my desktop. Or icons. But here's this.

You really don't mind losing the height? Maybe you haven't actually experienced 16:10.

Glad I waited until 4k was reasonably priced.

>he still isn't gonna post evidence that it's fixed

Oh okay, i believe you

>You literally paid a premium you will never use
You're literally retarded.
>while having all the advantage outside of vidya.

I wanna creampie that flossing milf so bad

It's only good for having a small 1920x1080 window for developing shit

If I'm only going to watch 720 movies on my HTPC, is it better to get a 1080 or 4k TV?

The TVs have 120Hz panels. It's the inputs that are at fault, you can use them at 1920x1080@4:4:4@120 just fine.

Thinking that people buy higher resolution displays in 2019 because they want more real state is honestly ultra dumb.
