Stop using your phone

This is one of things I tell people who say they think they use their phones too much. Getting something wrist-wearable that can receive notifications is one of the best things you can do.
One issue ive seen from people that do go for the smart watches is that the battery life for them usually tanks after a year or so of use
>the shills are now asking you to WEAR the botnet
You glow in the dark
My apple watch (series 2) is still holding up just fine, but I acknowledge that it's at the pricey end. Yeah that's gotta suck. The current fitbit charges seem decent though.
>don't just use your phones because we want you to buy our other products too
That's literally all it is.
Ol' Johnny seems to be putting on a few kilos
>botnet
>apple watch
hah what
Jesus Christ he got fat

The piss poor battery charges are the only thing holding me back from owning a smart watch.
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but the idea that I'd need to charge my wristwatch on a weekly basis just seems absurd to me, if anything it's should be one of the few accessory that requires minimal attention.
How is it not? Its proprietary shitware that phones home
I own a meme one that dies after about two days and honestly it's fine. I thought the same thing, that charging it would feel unnatural and "gay," but it really isn't that bad. Shit's cool as hell and I don't regret buying it at all.
I do agree. The last thing I want to do is overthink my watch. The best thing I bought for mine was a little cradle thing for the charging cable so that when I take it off at night it's in a safe place and i don't have to go through the annoyance of having to 'connect' it up. It's got two sides so I keep my analogue one on one side and the apple one on the other.
Kinda want a nokia 3310 but what about muh gps
Yeah, an androidwear one maybe
Android isn't proprietary, shill. iOS is.
Are you talking about the new model? If you are, then I would suggest to get any of the cheaper models because you are just basically paying 2x premium for the 3310 name. There is literally nothing in that phone that would justify the relatively high price.
Of course if you can get it for a good price then go for it. I just honestly think that the whole thing was very disappointing.
>android isn't proprietary
So, if you had a mechanical watch that you had to wind every day that would be okay? One charge a week isn't an inconvenience at all. Just take it off and let it charge while you sleep.
I really liked the original Pebble because you could attach the charger to it while wearing it. Same the screen kinda died though.
while I agree with his sentiment, I do not like his phrasing. What gives him, a designer, the authority to dictate how someone should use a product? His job is nothing more than creating a "beautiful" box. He has no input in the realm of functionality or features.

why are you still here? go away
If you think the version of android you typically get on mainstream phones and watches isn't a massive privacy nightmare i have a bridge to sell you
I'm a big fan of solar watches or just plain old batteries.
Having to charge my watch every 2-3 days versus replacing a battery every 5+ years is a major difference.
Literally every fucking thing on that platform is proprietary and (please correct me if im wrong) I think that there are at least some proprietary binary blobs in android source.
I don't think that there are any android phones actually running 100% non-proprietary software.
ps. Badly worded but you get the point..
>Literally every fucking thing on that platform is proprietary
this is completely wrong
>at least some proprietary binary blobs
this is correct
>I don't think that there are any android phones actually running 100% non-proprietary software
There is the Replicant project which aims to do this and supports a few devices, but the functionality is limited and the devices are not really usable under normal circumstances. There is also lineageos which suffers from those binary blobs but is otherwise free of proprietary code.
im not going to let some ugly old fart who designs crap in this day and age and seems to be the driving force behind holding iphones back in technology tell me how ti use my phone that I PAID for and if you do you are the true definition of a drone

iChads have social lives unlike you Rajesh. No, a communal shit in the dedicated street does not count.
Or you could just put your phone on silent and go live your life.
