Waiting for the final release.

>uptime: 9 mins
evry tiem

In my experience it's better to wait a few weeks (up to a month) before upgrading.

dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/30/
But now on bare metal :D

arch

After installing Arch I have no temptation to distrohop anymore

im on the same fedora install for what has to be at least 3 years, have upgraded quite a few times within a week of release and have never ever had a problem. likewise on my lil laptop everything has run perfectly fine after an upgrade

Why do you have so many gpus 0.0

because I use superior void linux with runit and musl

because i'm still on 28

It runs, but there are usually a few annoyances that get sorted out shortly after release. There are possibly more of them if you're using RPM Fusion, as you might encounter problems with not yet updated packages. Looking back at my F28->F29 upgrade, dnf's performance was abysmal for the first few days and both mpv and VLC couldn't be installed due to missing dependencies (the aforementioned RPM Fusion problem).
With that in mind I don't see the point of updating right away. F29 will do for another month.

>upgrade
>boy time to start my development VMs
>Call to virDomainCreateWithFlags failed: Network not found: no network with matching name 'vagrant-private-dhcp'
thanks IBM

I'm straight

I'm in the middle of my semester and want my work environment stable with 29. When I'm done with that I'll update.

Every distro I've tried randomly freezes on this PC, but Windows is fine. So, I stay using MSbotnet.

Fedora is good but the upgrade between releases usually breaks shit.

No lts kernel.

I'm comfy with kubuntu

>using anything other than windows 10
the absolute state of hipsters

but I do since the beta freeze

Because I'm used to Debian and Arch systems and they run better on my toaster laptop than Fedora for some reason. Nothing against the distro, I'm just using Debian 10 and runs much better on my laptop than Fedora 29 did.

xubuntu because i'm a newfag

Attached: 1552485240501.gif (640x480, 1.26M)

Because I'm using something better

because I don't own any fedoras

Should I hop into it? I'd like to have fresh Wayland libs and shit installed for sway. Ubuntu 18.04 justwerks_tm, but it's getting quite old and I get some rendering issues. And btw I do have Arch installed as my main

Because I want a fully free OS, so I use Trisquel.
For people who don't want to go full tinfoil hat Fedora is a good option. I've always preferred Debian, but Iappreaciate that Fedora is a very solid distro.

>Upgrade complete! Cleaning up and rebooting...
How many hours until it finally reboots?

1649 rpm

Also, here's a quick install guide I made a while back.

My god, vydia performance on Fedora is a shit! Stutter as hell!

Returning to Solus right now!

Why the server image, when the workstation image also offers a minimal install?

That's GNOME for you.

I use gnome on solus and just werks. This is a fedora problem.

Installed Manjaro yesterday

Have you tried Silverblue, formally known as atomic?

I'm not sure. I may have just read for a minimal install to get the server image at the time. I also remember the ports that are left open may be configured differently depending on whether it's installed from the desktop or server image (more closed by default on the server). I forget the exact context of the ports issue, but that wasn't the reason it was in the guide either.

No.

Not him, but I have tried it but there were problems with installing grub
discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/cannot-install-boot-loader/486/13

Xubuntu is actually nice though

Gnome is dumb + no .deb

Which is why you use Silverblue

I don't distrohop
I have had a solid setup for the last 3 years and I'm happy with it

>no .deb
And that's a good thing!

i dont want to be a bugchaser for jewhat

Apparently this was an actual bug that was supposed to be fixed. I finally just rebooted it and everything was upgraded correctly.

I couldn't defend myself in 10 seconds.

bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1674045

Didn't Silverblue replace Atomic? Why are there separate downloads for them?

No. Atomic is for servers and SilverBlue is for workstations. I don't know why they want two separate systems though.

What's the quick rundown on Silverblue?

because im using debian sid

RPM Fusion
SELinux headaches

gentoo is bretty neat

Fucking hell I just installed 29 last night

Upgraded my desktop last week. Fixed the GTK3 password bug in Firefox finally. Other than that it's not very different.

I use it as my main workstation. It was really rough with bugs in version 29 but in 30 it seems to work well now. Reading the SilverBlue docs is mandatory unless you are doing only grandma tier stuff.

because it has systemd

I like Windows 10 better

t. skipped all of Windows 8 using Fedora

Attached: 1544792863594.png (800x850, 175K)

Fedora has the same mentality as openBSD where firmware blobs are not regarded as software. I prefer this way of thinking since the FSF is okay with firmware if it’s embedded with the hardware, but not okay if the same exact firmware needs to be loaded via the OS. That doesn’t make sense to me.

I have a relative that works for red hat

I don't like him.

Because I use Mint :3

These days I was really thinking of testing Fedora, but everything is working so well here ...

Because I prefer running CentOS.

How's the KDE spin? no fucking way in hell I'm installing gn*me

I will give a try.

Gnome, KDE or Cinnamon?

Attached: airman.jpg (440x540, 62K)

my laptop is currently upgrading
runit seems legit. musl seems pointless on a desktop

GNOME, or Cinnamon if you want a windows-like interface
Don't listen to the KDE shill that shit on this board

I'm using fedora 29

KDE is unironically the best DE, aside from the fact it cant do automatically window resizing of side tiled windows without a kwin script

Not good.

not good, go with xfce

>KDE is the best DE
no it isn't shill
fuck off

If you want to try Fedora try GNOME at least, ot has the best GNOME integration

Komfy

install arch , i've been on manjaro for two weeks now you'll quickly realise it's not actually bleeding edge and it's filled with bloat
as soon as finals end i'm installing arch first thing first

The spin is terrible, instead get the netinstall and pick the kde packages you need/want
github.com/Zer0CoolX/Fedora-KDE-Minimal-Install-Guide

Good but comes with lots of shit and prepare to spend ½ hour post install just to get rid of useless kontact related subprograms from menu. Well, at least you can do that in sane way unlike in Gnome. I tried to persuade maintainers to stop doing that bullshit in F22-28 when I was contributor but didn't get through.

I will first try Gnome on a VM. If i don't like will install Cinnamon directly on desktop.

Anyone on proprietary nvidia drivers update yet? I heard it can be a bit fucky.

Deepin DE when
every other lunix DE looks like shit

Because I run OpenBSD.

Attached: 2019-04-25-130933_1264x764_scrot.png (1264x764, 26K)

I'm sorry user

Attached: 1556234158045.png (765x768, 408K)

because its autistic as fuck even by arch standards.

just got back into linux so im on ubuntu 18.04 lts

Because im using fedora 31

Because I don't like the name ;)

dnf is slow as fuuck

Good look trying to do something useful with it

Lier

Installing as we speak

this
Mint just werks

Attached: 1461971132613.jpg (714x682, 54K)

because its package manager = pain

>i5 M
>M
I'm sorry.

Because I use Debian. Fedora is bit tempting for having a newer kernel, but when I think about going back to rpm I vomit.
When's the next longterm release after 4.19 anyway? Probably won't be too long.

I usually wait 2-3 months to upgrade after the final release.

aur

Is true that mesa drivers cames by default? I will not need to add some oibaf ppa to use?

What about Steam and Retroach? Works fine In Fedora?

>SELinux
old.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/bbaz4l/selinux_has_a_ui_problem/

I prefer mint
