You'll be hard-pressed to find an "OOTB, just werks" distro that lacks systemd.

For meeting most of your criteria, I'd probably recommend Manjaro, since it puts a pretty sizable focus on working OOTB, and the AUR+rolling release model means you'll have very easy access to the latest versions of the software you mentioned. But, it is systemd.

If you want something -not- systemd, but less "OOTB", there's pretty much just Gentoo, Void, Devuan, and maybe Artix.

>work out of the box
>have all the best packages
>no systemd, no gnomeshit
>fast and secure
Devuan would check all the boxes for you. I use it on my laptops and desktop, kept all my servers on Debian though.
Honestly, though, unless you have an actual (i.e. not purely ideological) reason to not use systemd, just use Debian. Devuan's great until you run into a package that shits the bed because it doesn't know it's basically just Debian. All I've noticed since switching to Devuan is that my boot times are slower, a couple of programs act a bit flakey, and add-apt-repository doesn't work. I said this in another thread a couple days ago, but Devuan is just Debian for people who like to inconvenience themselves.

the fuck's the point of your post you horny /b/tard

arch linux

Lubuntu

didnt read "no gnu"

fedora with non-free repos
>no systemd

Devuan.

I bought a T601 Frankenpad recently, I installed Linux Mint Cinnamon 64bit and it works, but a little choppy when I run a few Opera windows.

Whats the best linux distro for an older laptop with my specs?

excuse me but i consider 4.4.172 to be the best linux.

the macbook pro with retina display doesn't have this issue.

hello newshits

Slackware, it's not rolling release but it will work out of the box.
Void may work too, but I find it a bit harder to install and maintain, and you can't really beat Slackware in simplicity (BSD init is the best one). Get Slack.
