It was jinxed from the moment "PowerPC" was mentioned.
Then again, would it really be a proper PowerPC thread without him shitting up the thread?

>spammer [singular]

They want to shut down PowerPC threads.

He started posting scat from three or four different IPs yesterday. Fucking retard.

Who is that faggot, and why does he have a stick up his ass about PowerPC?

Because Apple logo bad, that's literally it.

Ah, sophisticated.

Is there anyone on Jow Forums who owns a PowerPC Thinkpad? If I wanted a PPC, its either that or the 12 inch PowerBook G4.

Well, powermacs aren't exactly expensive these days. I don't really give a fuck about apple. I just think the PowerPC machines are neat.

The 12" PB's are nice, but they're a nightmare to work on. Look at the ifixit guide on how to remove the hard drive. It's absurd. The 15" powerbooks are arguably easier to tinker on than old Thinkpads.

Wrong board.

They are pretty cool. My dad had one of those liquid cooled dual G5 powermacs and it was a fucking beast at the time. Heavy as balls and sounded like you were about to hit warp speed when you turned it on. As a kid I always loved that fucking thing.

We're all pretty terrible people. Otherwise we wouldn't be here in the first place.

I have an HP Notebook 14, it runs Windows 10, the May 2019 edition due to me being apart of the Windows Insider Programme. And no, I have no need for Linux, all I have to do is pin the taskbar to the left of the computer and I get pretty much what would you would get out of Linux.

Apple kinda sorta admitted that x86 was better than PPC. Now they're so sick of (((Intel))) than they're moving to ARM or some shit. RIP in peace, Froot Loops.

Yeah, (((better))) indeed.

I had a PowerBook G4 for a while that I would use to write small programs on and type out documents while listening to music. For those basic tasks it was still fun to use. Nice keyboard too. I have a lot of nostalgia for the Tiger through Snow Leopard era of OSX so it was fun to tinker with. Unfortunately the screen stopped displaying one day. Replaced the video ribbon cable and still no dice.

I was thinking about getting an iMac G5 to put in my workshop since (evidently) Spotify for PowerPC macs still works. Would be a cool little jukebox.

If it's a 1.5GHz model (I believe it works with 1.25GHz ones too) you can get a 1400x1050 IPS panel for it. If that doesn't fix it then you can buy a PowerBook with a broken screen

>enigma
>your nan
>that old and still spectre compromised
if you're going to buy into the extreme autism that is ME/PSP scaremongering, at least do it properly with a pentium 4 or something.

First thought that comes to mind is the inverter. If you shine a flashlight through the apple logo on the back, can you see a faint picture?

Used to have a really nice 2003 G5 tower that I bought from a local university. It was my main machine for a while and it was probably the funnest to use computer I've ever owned. It died a couple years back and I had to throw it out. I'd kill to get another one.

It doesn't even have to be about the ME/PSP autism, though. They're interesting because they're unorthodox. Plus, the machines these processors shipped in were pretty cool.

The G5's are great, but they suffered from the capacitor plague of the early 2000's. I would avoid them, unless you can pick one up for

Yeah, the only ones that I've seen are either destroyed or over $100, so rip.

You just have to keep your eye out in local ads, etc.. Both of my G5's were purchased for around $30.

I have an old PowerBook G4 with a dead battery. I tried to get one from Amazon a while back and it was a dud. Does anybody know a good source for replacement batteries?

Well, Jow Forums just wanted to discuss technology in peace without mactoddler manchildren flooding the board with 200 fruit shit shill threads daily, so I guess nobody's getting what they want.

Mactoddlers declared war on Jow Forums, not the other way around. If you can't take it, maybe you should go back to the hugbox you came from.

Nice blogpost fruitboy, but have you considered moving out of your mom's basement?

? Idk wtf you're high on, my main machine is a smelly as AMD FX machine running Linux. I just like some of these stupid old machines. Idk why I'm arguing the point, but yeah.

Replacement batteries are scarce. I'd just replace the 18605 cells in the one you have. They can be had for as little as $1 / piece.

I fucking hate this mentally ill retard

Why haven't you necked yourself yet Kevin?

Some of the G4s suffered from that as well. The MDD models were especially prone to logic board and PSU failures. Thankfully, aside from the late G4s and early G5s, there wasn't much from the early 2000s that was interesting enough to worth worrying about. It was around the time that computers started becoming utterly commoditized.

In my view, Snow Leopard was the last really, really good version of OSX because it was the last version that actually focused on being a desktop operating system. After that they started bringing over too many iOS-ish features and just bastardized the interface (in much the same way that Microsoft bastardized Windows 8). The releases also got sloppier, and I think the annual schedule had a lot to do with that. I really wish that Apple would go back to a two-year release schedule to focus on quality control but I know the soi reviewers and "tech pundits" would wail and howl over that being "too slow".

This is actually brilliant parody. Bravo sir.

because I'm an introverted autistic fat neckbeard manchild who seeks internet recognition by using an unpopular operating system to make me feel like a special snowflake and distract me from how disgustingly boring and useless my life is.

Today I sold one of my PowerMacs for the same price I bought all 3. He just wanted a tower too so still have a 1st and 2nd Gen Cinema Display too. I'd like some ideas to utilize at least one. I thought they could handle 1080p video editing but sadly mistaken (it's possible but it's too choppy for me to bother)

Also I'm interested in knowing why PowerPC has such a following even today? I wanted one just because I like IBM. But I see people with an early Mac Pro and G5 and they say they cling on to using the G5 as much as possible.

Since I got a Talos board with one CPU only, ordered them as parts and not a full system. Since I don't really do any heavy lifting on it, it's just my general daily desktop.
While the "gaming PC" is fully decked out, with two 2080 Ti's and a 9900k, but I *ONLY* play games on it. It's not even connected to the internet most of the time, only when I play a MMO.

Wonder how much use you could actually get out of it, if you'd max out the RAM, use an SSD with Linux and a more modern AMD GPU with open drivers.
