There is going to be a time when the internet is going to be so censored and covered in laws that faggots like us are going to start migrating to more hidden boards on the deep web.
Ain't that a bitch
Does the future really look that bad for the internet? Is there any hope Jow Forums?
It's not fucked yet. We just need to keep the US government from doing a goddamn thing. This is actually pretty easy. Just make sure that the president and the congress are from opposite parties at all times so nothing gets done.
Joseph Garcia
I mean Europe is already getting assblasted by copyright laws
It's only a matter of time before old fucks and spoilled fat cunts called feminist start fucking up our heaven
Isaac Rivera
I'd love that. A dystopian web with normies contained in their containment webpages.
Jacob Lee
Censorship of the internet is pretty much impossible. Especially considering how unprofitable it is. When companies get so big that they have the SEC permanently camped over their shoulder they start acting like Google and Facebook and Twitter where they start reflexively pressing the delete button any time a soccer mom gives them a email saying they're going to write to their congressman, but just don't consume from there. That shit doesn't trickle down.
Gavin Kelly
The future is going to be fucked in all regards, not just the internet
Censorship of the Internet is pretty impossible because it was designed in such a way to actively resist censorship. Anything that can be hosted in one place can be mirrored all over. If one country bans certain content, another country can host it, and that country can access the banned content from the other country.
Easton Mitchell
That's all thanks to you fucking millennials
Jace Scott
You do realise the praetorian guard assassinated emperors for good reason.
William Myers
You try crossing that Rubicon then.
Jack Morris
Stop posting this in every fucking thread.
Kayden Smith
I don't pay attention to news except for the little people mention and you guys post here.
>Does the future really look that bad for the internet? Is there any hope Jow Forums? The internet / computers as a whole are on a negative path. Take a while back, semantic web a big push by google to convince everyone to bloat their websites for no benefit to themselves or users. It makes google data mining / categorizing easier. Firefoxs recent reasoning to silently enable hidden link tracking as part of html, completely anti-user and anti-privacy but they just make excuses because they are controlled opposition. The future is completely locked down apple phone style devices running encrypted binary blob as webpages.
No headphone jacks because they want to sell worse sounding garbage for more money while collecting data on your usage. I'm just going to stop using new computers/phones, then just stop using computers/phones when no old ones will work.
Wyatt Stewart
Is anyone else having a bitch of a time to start threads on Jow Forums? I keep trying to open a new thread and time and time again I keep getting the "Error: Upload Failed" message REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
If it makes frogbloggers like you disappear it might just be worth all the other oppression and corporate motivated faggotry.
Jason Price
>migrating to more hidden boards We are having a discussion on that elsewhere but it seems to be impractical.
Oliver Peterson
>the second coming of Hitler needs to happen now Technically speaking much of Western Europe has been so knee deep in fascism for decades that they had to redefine what fascism really means, to the point that Mussolini would not even recognise it.
Jose Allen
This might happen soon since the 2020 election will fuck this site even more and otherchan that shall not be mentioned has gone downhill recently as well. Fucking sunshine shit and then the banning of tor for a majority of boards is just making other chan worse.
John Bailey
The internet was originally conceived as a military communication and surveillance network, funded by the US government. Now it is returning to that role. Everything you typed can be used against you, should you threaten their control or godforbid try to enter politics.
Should you grow big using US proprietary technology (Software/hardware or even make a USD transaction), you could be held accountable in a US court of law. It is the future you all chose, born from apathy.
It's already happening. Or has happened more or less. All the major platforms do that openly, forming leftist liberal globohomo echo chambers by banning all intelligent discussion that challenges status quo. The one thing they are most afraid of is actual open exchange of ideas, which is obvious by observing their hysterics against Gab and Dissenter, and how they are writing boogeyman stories of "intellectual dark web" aka dissident right in its most inclusive meaning, anyone challenging anything in status quo. By that label and their openly suppressing actions against anyone in it from Moldbug to alt-right to even mild libertarians like Sargon, left liberals openly acknowledge they are doing intellectual apartheid. Yeah so we already live in it. We now have different schools of thought that do not communicate with each other because hysterical psycho assholes of the left refuse to do that. Situation is worse than it ever was in warring states China where philosophers of differing schools could at least travel freely. We all know where this all leads to. I am already treating liberals as crazy people who have declared war and are only waiting for chance to kill us all.
Fascism, according to Mussolini who promoted it, is a system where power is vested in groups (companies, societies, organisations, etc) while individuals have no power. Check Wikipedia on Mussolini and fascism to read more.
Many western countries have had decades with socialist parties for unclear reasons embraced new public management (NPM) as a way to rule, where power is organised into units with separate management that "trade" services. One effect is a vast bureaucracy, the other to add numerous NGOs, quangos and more, all led by former and future politicians that somehow tend to be aligned with the socialist parties. This is where power is placed. Individuals have little influence in this, unless they organise groups, and in our time that includes FB groups. Part of this is how people in power are never punished for their gross incompetence or outrageous mistakes.
Notice the extreme aversion against Swiss style direct democracy. That goes completely against this.
I am neither. To the contrary, I have worked in government institutions and semi-governmental organisations and seen this from the insides. I remember one leader emphasised the importance of political alignment if we wanted to be promoted. And he was not ashamed to tell us how it worked.
These days I work in the legal industry and I still see how it operates. It is not a pretty sight. Too often I see people promoted based on personal connections rather than competence.
Gabriel Evans
>thread immediately becomes about politics Can't you faggots just fuck off? No one wants to read this shit on this board.
Anthony Long
I don't see wrong in major platforms banning what they don't like. That's their right to exclude as owners of their property, their websites. As far as I'm concerned they are free to do whatever shit comes to their minds, including preventing open exchange of ideas. That's bad ethics, but that's their right to do so. After all, Internet is more or less decentralized and we are free to choose platforms to express ourselves on. That's far from how apartheid works. Jow Forums respects freedom of speech to a certain aspect. What we should fear is government stepping in with it's laws and regulations, which will eventually take away said freedom and force it to be centralized.
Ian Williams
It's a thread about government regulating the internet. That was to be expected.
Juan Gutierrez
And that's a good thing. Censorship will force decentralization and anonymity
Easton Hughes
The thread is about the effects of censorship, not who is doing it. Even then, it's a bipartisan issue but both sides have confirmation bias.
Camden Garcia
There's more to it than that, Fascism also promotes ethnic nationalism which isn't even legal in much of Europe.
Evan Kelly
>2030 >being on the normienet what did you expect? come home to the pepenet
Ryan Thomas
Please just fucking go back and stop trying to fit in, you're not fooling anyone.
>Fascism also promotes ethnic nationalism Where, outsize Nazi Germany?

fuck off reddit

>hidden web
You do realize Jow Forums and its memes have been mainstream for many years now. Also that it’s been censored in many countries already.
>if I wish it hard enough it happens and I do not need to do jackshit
Sebastian Turner
Ever tried to tabulate paragraphs on a website?
Leo Butler
Good. The internet should have remained solely a tool and not a space for whatever.
Anthony Allen
>going to be
Adam Perez
>Just make sure that the president and the congress are from opposite parties at all times so nothing gets done. Ajit Pai was appointed by Obama and renominated by Trump. Skullfucking consumers and systematically dismantling the free-and-open internet is a bipartisan effort.
Easton Wood
Be specific about your fucking complaints. It's anyone's guess what exactly you're whining about. Fucking retarded frogposter. Every single post with that facebook frog is a waste of board space.
Camden Howard
>posted racist but funny meme >van outside
Kevin Richardson
I'm not American and it's a matter of perspective. Looking from the right, liberals and lefties both are on the left alley in the same brainless toxic goo pile in a dark corner with some irrelevant tiny differences.
Austin Watson
It's a huge problem because huge platforms control discourse. They need government supervision and special legislation like nuclear plants to make sure they can not be a cleptocratic tyranny capable of effectively installing governments via information control.
Josiah Wilson
By that then isn't that spacing since there's more than one sentence on 1 line. Also, it is mostly phone posters that have this problem for other reasons (small screen.)
Hunter Morgan
I can remember when the original Torchan was up. It was surprisingly mild in the main.
Thomas Murphy
zeronet for websites ipfs for videos torrent for large files bitcoin for payments
plain net is a containment board for people who like reading about kardashians and dance with the stars.
Elijah Thompson
This. Zeronet is really nice even as it is, but i'm kind of scared of browsing it without tor. Also, dat is a good alternative for file sharing(and websites), but it's not as polished as 0net, and requires a special web browser. I've come to the same conclusion recently. I started hoarding data a lot, mosly stuff that i like(or would like to try). Even thinking of setting up a home/backup server.
I think that in the future pcs will be replaced with thinpc terminals for accessing the """"cloud"""". Goolag is literally working on this right now, allegedly in fuchsia they will remove the basic concept of files and applications. The people who actually care about privacy and shit will continue to use their ancient hardware and communicate using decentralised local networks(such as zeronet and alternatives). Pretty much the same as in the early days of the internet. The history repeats itself.
