>Dell
>a low-end Dell
>a refurbished low-end Dell at that
Do not buy.

I know the ThinkPad meme is way overused on this board, but at that point your best bet is to buy a ThinkPad. Way more bang for your buck.
Dell's laptops fall apart within months and are just deeply unpleasant to use even when they are working "perfectly." Touchpads like sandpaper, flexy/unresponsive keyboards, TN displays (in the year of our lord 2019) with non-existent viewing angles, shit thermals, shit durability, shit performance, 20-minute battery life, and what's worse is the fact that a lot of Dell laptops are affected by a design flaw which literally causes them to shut off unexpectedly if you pick them up the wrong way.
Skip it. By the time you end up modifying the things you hate about it and getting used to the more negligible details, you'd've spent more money than you would've on a ThinkPad in the first place.

nah, get a used t440 or x1 carbon 3rd gen for less than that.

Buy a mac lel

get a thinkpad

>3000 different models
Any indicators of where to start with thinkpads?

just get the standard T420

Thanks for the info!

I had an E7470 as my daily driver at the last IT company I worked for. Used it every day for 18 months and never had any problems.

Pretty solid and specs are good. Latitude line by Dell is equivalent to Lenovo's Thinkpad line or HP's ProBook line.

Thinkwiki.com

It was the 3.4ghz 16gb ram that entices me, seems fast af for laptop at that price

pick one with specs you like on ebay or something

wrong person
this

>2cores 4 threads
>$739

nigger, what are you doing?

No. I got a refurbished HP Elitebook 8770W for less than half that price. Same RAM, same SSD (plus a 500GB HDD), and an i7 3940XM. No Windows 10 (thank Christ), but if I wanted it, it wouldn't be hard to get for free.

So its bad?

Yes. It's a good price. Don't listen to the tards here shilling fabled Thinkpads. They're impossible to find.

this but unironically. the 2015 macbook pro is going refurbished for great prices and has pretty strong specs sans garbage keyboard

nigger what are you doing?

i checked them out they look decent

> New!
> Refurbished
lol no if they do that on the listing I don't even want to know their actual condition

It was one of the first results I got, and was meant to exemplify how bad of a deal his was. Despite being a 2013 model, it still is a better deal that what OP was showing.

I paid 200 less for the same model with a better processor (although it didn't come with a 500GB SSD).

lmao @ this entire thread

I've had too many dells fall apart in my hands for me to trust them. Skip it. The only good Dells in recent years are the chunky latitudes from 2013-2014.

Just get an apple air for $800 USD as a student if you're a normie.

I'm posting on one, total cost was less than $200 and it's a really good laptop. You can't find a laptop that's as good as the x230 for anywhere near that price.

It makes me want more though, like a Ryzen processor in a desktop. It's a good laptop though, can play San Andreas pretty good at 1080p.

i literally could not give less of a shit you fucking inbred douchebag

no one cares retard

no need to pay it any attention

no, it's not.
even if it's a i7 QM quad core, it will be a 45W chip.
the vrm probably gonna burn out.

>Thinkpads

its a Jow Forums cliche but there is a reason behind that

they're both leaps and bounds better.
>both 1920x1080 ips and 4 cores 8 threads
>ryzen 7 2700u thinkpad
>or asus i5 8250u with mx150 gpu.

My VRM hasn't burned out with the 55W 3940XM, so I'm curious as to why you think that would happen.

no

Or, if you're sticking with Dell for some reason, get an XPS, which is where they keep all the actually good laptops.

You can even get them with linux installed right out of the box, instead of wasting money with the W10 license.
