Zoom into the image. There's some very aggressive noise reduction going on which resulted in a loss of detail. Also if you look at that gridline, you can see the software struggled to either keep the image stabilised (implying a lack of OIS) or had problems stitching the data from the sensor. Compare that to where you have far more noise, but the details are preserved so the image looks closer to how you'd actually see the scene, which makes it look more "natural" for the lack of a better term. The OP7 image is consistent with IMX586 phones so far, meaning gcam will indeed make it great.
