that said, if you use bluray for anything other then backup, it's not worth it. the drm is fucking nightmarish forcing you to rip what you own and crack it just to watch it because legitimate software rarely works.

I can only agree with him because I have never had good experiences with these things. They are literally either dogshit chinkshit that might just literally catch fire (happened to two of these I used) or are so poorly made that you are worried the drive might be damaged from the vibrations. Build quality is like a card house in a wind tunnel but usually prices are pretty low.

I have a drawer like OPs pic. Very practical, I store cables, usb sticks etc in there and I use it all the time.

I have overall 10 of these in various desktop.
They all work perfectly fine It's just a pass-trough for SATA data and SATA power.
Nothing else. No light, no controller, nothing.
Just make sure the connector pins are not bend, mine were all perfect.

I have a drawer like op I keep flash drives and a external TB drive in. I also have a 5.25 usb io in one of my bays cause my case is old af (thermaltake xaser vi) but sentiment makes me keep upgrading it.

Only desktops I got that have 5,25 inch bays in them are from around year 2000. One has 2 cd drives the other has nothing.
