>"No support means that the OS will become useless!R-right, guys?"

Switch back to windows XP

Oh no, how will I ever live without the QUALITY SUPPORT MS provides?

ReactOS

I haven't updated Windows 7 since 2009

I have a windows7 install i have not used since 2015. I only have steam ,firefox ,mumble, vlc and an irc client on that one.
So i havent lost much i guess?

Does that mean software and games will no longer be made for windows 7?

>But you can keep the good times rolling by moving to Windows 10.
HAHAHAHAHH

I've seen a couple of games and software not support Windows 7 which is retarded because 7 is still up to modern standards as an OS. What's incredibly retarded is all the devices that are only a few years old can't work for shit on 10 because of the constant driver updates fucking everything up. I feel like they're forcing 7 and anything tied to it become obsolete and the dropped security updates will be the final nail in the coffin. Software and hardware support will be dropping left and right.

I won't be surprised if MS is gonna strong arm companies to stop support. I'm guessing steam will work for some time but that's it

This. The computer crapped itself before the OS did. A first in Microsoft world. I installed the beta version of W7 in 2009 and kept it until the computer died last year.

No. MS was earnestly trying to kill win7 off for like 5 years now but they still failed. win7 compatible software has twice as big market as win10 only software, there's literally zero benefits to create win10 locked software if you want to make money. Even with games microsoft had to pay developers for using dx12 but still couldn't succeed in creating dx12 market.

>windows 7: white
>windows 10: nigger
switch to GNU/ linux

Absolutely nothing.

Didn't you know? The day support ends you won't even be able to boot up your computer anymore.
It can go straight to the trash.

A few years back I was forced to update windows 7 to support a game. Since then never applied patches. I have an offline patch manager setup and it does save them to dvds I store with dates, but I dont use them as I dont need it.
I already use linux for everything but gaming. When I say everything, I mean every fucking thing a PC can do.

I installed it when I purchased my first SSD. It was an ivy bridge system. Then I migrated from b75+i5-3450 to z77+i5-3570k cause muh overclock. Then I migrated to ryzen5 1600. I intend to upgrade to zen2 without reinstalling the OS. It's literally the most stable, capable and expandable thing MS ever made.

>I'm guessing steam will work for some time but that's it
Windows XP worked until January 1, 2019, 5 years after the end of extended support.
It will work in Windows 7 for at least 5 years or more until it is actually obsolete like XP is now (only a niche uses XP, lets face it), if they don't they lose people.

>"No support means that the OS will become useless!R-right, guys?"

Yeah yeah ... but it means they stop patching the constant security holes found so you had better have a good understanding and command of your firewall and network traffic if you are going to keep using the thing online or your exploitable machine can be easily scanned for and found.

And who knows what the situation on Vulkan and Proton will look like in five years time considering how rapidly it's taken off in the last year. By the time Steam support for Win 7 ends you may not have a single reason to even use Windows anymore.

>It's literally the most stable, capable and expandable thing MS ever made.
And they're killing it. I blame the poos.

its even better, i hate the updates that never change anything
Windows 7 for live

Actually yeah, new hardware doesn't have drivers for win7

the drivers for Win10 will still work on Win7

They don't. Some drivers from server 2008 r2 work, but I think the support for it ends too.

As of me getting my porn games to run on Linux a few years ago, I don't really need it that much anymore. I'll probably still keep using it though unitl it ends up like XP to where too many programs no longer work with it because of (((obsolescence))).

Linux, problem solved.

>2020 will be the year of Linux desktop!

Eh I don't scream that meme, I just saw it as a viable escape especially with all the advancements being made in regards to things like game support. I don't need the latest and greatest games , there's lots of slightly older games that I've never played. Do I see it being the majority? No, I'll be happy with it just having a significant enough number to warrant real support. Let people have options it would also be good for windows users to not have a monopoly anymore, they would work to improve shit better.

What do what I do with old games? Virtualbox OS on a different hard drive. I have 120 gb sandisk ssd bought for $30 at the lowest I've ever seen. Set it to 60gb win 7, 30 gb XP and the rest available I've toyed with other fun OSes. I copy an image of OS o 4TB 3.5 regular drive to backup monthly. Only had to restore twice but worth it.
