God damn it bros I want to join this Laser SA drop. Fuck this hobby.
Then just do it
Why?
Laser is such a fucking ugly set
Fuck you Mito. That shit is too expensive for ABS.
But SA looks best shiny.
Whats wrong with ABS?
I really like you peoples and wanted to know if one of you could recommend me a board.
I really want something like a Vortex Race 3 with the colorful caps
I really want one with short caps (no tall keycaps)
>Budget = Under $230 USD
>Location (continent at least) = St Cathrines Ontario Canada
>Preferred switch type = No Cherry Reds, maybe the feel of Blues but quieter
>Layout = numpad is ok if theres no spacer between the other side of board, like Kira
>Form factor = sort of like the one in the video below
>Backlight = YES If possible
>Previous/current keyboards = Corsair K60, Razer Blackwidow, 1994 Epson,Thinkpad USB Compact keyboard, Ajazz ak33
I really like this keyboard this guy has: youtu.be
espeecially how the numpad has almost no spacer to the other keys
anyway i could get a similar one that fits within my budget?
XD96 if you want something like a Kira
kprepublic.com
you just missed the sale when it was 100 bucks for the case, plate, and PCB
Tab90M maybe? It's like a Race 3, but with a numpad attached.
Vortex Tab90
>mechanicalkeyboards.com
It doesn't have a backlight, but it fits everything else. I'd recommend it with clears if you want something that's like silent blues.
where can I get a keyboard like this?
Blame SP for SA's price.
thats one perfect board :O
i wish it had backlighting, would get it for sure
just work at google
You mean other than it quickly wearing down, and thus becoming shiny?
But SA is already shiny
Whats wrong with shiny keycaps?
Nifty
How do I go about selling a keyboard that's more likely to actually sell?
I've got two old Razer boards from I don't even know when/where/how, and don't use them anymore.
but them on ebay I guess
that's nothing
i bet you like these then aliexpress.com
I bet that massive enter key is super satisfying to smack.
what kind of thickness for keycaps r considered good? is 1.4mm good?
give em to someone you like
>euro enter
disgusting
I have no relations with anybody that wants Razer, even for free.
2mm at minimum
Anyone want to buy the DSA Granite Elven Tongue kit?
no
why would anyone want an elven kit
Whats everyones thoughts on the GMK Oblivion 2 set?
Thinking of buying them myself since I love the color scheme.
>GMK
Whats wrong with GMK?
Other than ABS dissolving from use? Or it being overpriced?
ABS doesn't dissolve from use. Who's the retard that told you that?
What you recommend for caps then? I'm just looking to get decent caps and GMK always looked nice.
Something PBT so it doesn't wear down from your skin oils.
ABS doesn't wear down from the oils of your skin tho.
Are SA caps okay also? Saw a great set and considered those or the GMK.
Unless it's the ice cap set they're also ABS.
Yeah I was looking at the Ice Cap set. Just wanting something white to mix in other colors.
>High quality ABS
are you literally a moron?
That guy is an idiot. ABS is a softer plastic than PBT so overtime it gets polished by your fingers. You can use gloves and they'll still get shiny. The oils in your skin have nothing to do with ABS shine. PBT can also get shiny, but it is a much harder plastic so it takes years for that to occur. Also ABS turns yellow over time because of the fire retardant shit they put in it. Stick with PBT as there are dozens of options on places like aliexpress, kprebulic, kbdfans, unless you really like an ABS set
are you? you clearly don't know why ABS gets shiny overtime.
So is it hard to make PBT caps in alternate colors or something, every time I see a PBT set it's pretty much always white or light gray with dye sub black letters. Also seem like ABS is preferred to PBT when it comes to doubleshots due to shrinkage or something.
Theres the PBT Miami colorway that isn't just white.
Not really, you can get PBT keycaps in whatever color you want. The problem comes with the legend quality. PBT can withstand heat much better then ABS which means you can dye-sublimate legends on to it. This is much cheaper than double injection molding, but that means the legend must be a lighter color than the base. You can do all over dye-sub, but then the costs end too high. As for doubleshot PBT it's tricky to do as PBT warps as it cools making it a difficult material to work with. Only a handful manufacturers make true doubleshot PBT keycaps
More POM keycapsets when
Eventually, the new profile novelkeys is making is POM.
Can anyone point me to some 1u keycap sets on Amazon? Doesn't matter about profile so long as it's 60%+, all I'm getting are 40% for the planck when I search
>$137
>out of stock
Even the POM set that was on kbdfans seems to be gone too.
>Amazon
what's wrong with aliexpres?
aliexpress.com
lotr nerds
If I use my pbt caps all day every day how long will it take to get shiny?
It took my model M 25 years to get noticeably shiny on some of the keys
>looking for russian keycaps
>they're all horrendous
where can i buy a Vortex Tab 90 in Canada? shipping from mechanicalkeyboards.com is $30 fucking USD!!!
Cyrillic is an ugly looking language so I don't blame ya
nowhere
ever since NCIX died all the good keyboards come in from america
I've got a $100 Amazon gift card to blow, are any of the keyboard with backlight macros on Amazon worth buying? Looking for one with blue switches.
i bought it, it's nice
russian is beautiful but noone makes backlit caps
I have an Amazon gift card I want to use.
guys i'm looking at some keycaps and it says filco in the title, so does it mean it only works for filco keyboards? i thought keycaps were like universal?
just spent a lot of money on a keyboard lol
Filco keyboards mostly follow standard ANSI and ISO layout so, no.
give us some numbers, user. how much was it?
$250 USD + $25 USD then converted into canadian fake maple money
i got a black FC660C type-s
is sublimation bad?
Oh you mean an intermediate amount of money on a mid range keyboard.
yeah. now days the chinks can only do fuzzy shitty legends that bleach themselves after a few weeks. back in the IBM days dye-sublimation even gave doubleshot a run for its money. modern dye-sub sets can't get enough penetration so UV light will slowly oxidize them making them look bleached and faded.
>mid range
christ above how deep are your pockets
high end keyboards usually start around 350+, tho you can get some used ones for less
in 11-21 business days you'll be jelly of my koreaboo, made in japan, high-end, topre master race keeb
what advantages do those have over 200 dollars keyboards because thats what I have and I always thought that was the cutoff for diminishing returns
What's the cadillac of keyboards?
redragon keyboard with chrome gold keycaps
I've always gone for full-sized boards, just on the off-chance that I may need the numpad.
A few months back now, I bought a TKL for fairly cheap to see if I'd enjoy it. Looking back now, aside from the Gateron blue switches (had the choice to get greens for no extra cost), it was a good board bar the switches and I love the extra desk real estate.
I've seen 60% boards on here, and am not exactly a fan of the looks.
Are there any practical benefits if I'm not actually cramped for real estate?
Also, just for the sake of trying one out, what's a good ~60% board, whether it be DIY or pre-assembled, for fairly inexpensive since I'd be mainly looking to give it a shot and pass off to a friend if I don't like the feel.
Amazon Basics
>just on the off-chance that I may need the numpad
This one might suit your needs.
All other keyboards are obsolete
told you, tap to arrow, you never use those keys without holding them
Why would I be jelly of a midrange keyboard. If I want capacitive I can just use my kishy
Memes.
Why did you post a picture of a chopping board?
Well, I was more looking for ~60% to try, don't need the numpad after becoming accustomed to the TKL layout.
I realised how little I use numpad after transitioning to TKL.
I brought up the numpad as the reason for why I switched to TKL, and just wanted to see what a 60% would be look, and wanted an inexpensive board for such purposes.
so its like a scar then
The thing with 60% keyboards is that in order to use them properly you need to program them for your use case, and the really cheap ones don't allow you to do that. Check out the Anne Pro 2 if you want a programmable one on the cheaper side.
Should I bite the bullet and buy chinkshit keycaps?
is it really still getting produced? i tought that this model got already discontinued
Yeah, but a scar made from the hardest metal known to man aka diamonds
:^)
Honestly? Bragging rights, and beyond that pretty much fuck all.
From around 200 bucks you're not gonna notice any major improvements in build quality, you're paying for design and possibly some niche layout or switch at that point.
A Ducky Shine 7 is basically just as nice with its zinc case, dual PCBs and all the rainbows you could ever ask for.
If you want special reddit switches in your preferred layouts you'd basically have to spend that much. I'd love a 96key with zilents v2, but that would mean I'd have to spend 250 bucks on a keyboard without keycaps
>.>
This shit looks unbelievably autistic. Please tell me these are just conceptual and no one actually uses them.
Still not nearly as curved as a dactyl or its variants, nevermind that the switches themselves are all flat anyway.
