Will the flat design trend ever pass?

will the flat design trend ever pass?
or will UI continue to get shitter and shitter until that vertical line on the screen is actually the send button?
TAKE ME HOME, PLEASE DEAR GOD
I DONT WANNA DO THIS ANYMORE
WHY IS TECH SO SOULLESS NOW
AAAAAARRRRRRRGGHHHHHH

By flat design you mean material design.
Material design sucks. Flat design is basically flattened out skeumorphism and it's awesome

Left one looks hideous

i dont even want to use a gui in the first place, user
for the few things that i cant do using a cli, i would rather not waste space and processing on fancy looking buttons
just fill a rectangle on screen and render some text over it and call it a day, its more efficient like that
what kind of girly ass faggot are you to care that much over how fucking buttons look lmao

Left design would be good if they didn't try the reflected light bullshit. I'll take material design over that green turd as it is.

the opposite of this

Skeuomorphism made wrong is horrible, flat shit made wrong still looks ok that's why people prefer doing flat shit

I just wish the low contrast meme that seems to accompany flatshit would fuck off already.

>sharp corners bad
>my buttons need to be non-threatening

at some point you get to my level and just want text with blue text being a link.
but yeah i still like the UI of old android phones and iphones

oy vey mate have ya` got sharp buttons loicense?

Flat, minimalistic design isn't bad in general.

Borderless "buttons" without separated field from background or row/column of buttons like this is bullshit.

Examples of shitty borderless buttons:

>Windows10 settings + window decorations
>youtube channel page
>Android settings menu (thanks god they included icons)
>google settings website
>gnome panel popup menu (sound, brightness, session)
>buttons appearing only after hovering mouse over them

I have feeling some of "modern flat" UIs misses the point and instead of improving readability placement of elements try to do the opposite.

Does it yet qualifies as a passive-agressive bechavior?

Flat design is on its way out. I'm seeing a lot of gradients being used, that's the opposite of flat (no, flat doesn't mean flat surface you retard)

One of the reasons flat design took off is because of pajeet designers who are way cheaper than actually talented people.
Ask a pajeet designer who works at Google to recreate something like this icon and I bet he won't be able to.

This and high DPI screens becoming a thing
Its also easier/cheaper to make flat scale well across all sizes of screens, and cheaper since flat takes artists less talent&time
These are the real reasons for flat, its easy to implement.

That pic is pretty good. Human vision prefers 3D and 2.5D over 2D. You just can't have a good experience using flat shit.
Look at pic related. It's a million times less confusing, easier to look at and use w7 looking UI than w10.
The whole reason people are trying to move to transparent UIs nowadays is to minimize the shitty, brain-numbing experience flat design offers.

Idk I find both lookel like arse. Especially 90 to 00s ui

Yes, but most importantly...

Flat design can be drawn programmatically, without raster assets. This makes it so you can draw UIs with CSS/SVG/whatever way more easily, more cheaply, and produce an app with a FAR smaller filesize.

To wit, my apps rarely have an "images" folder anymore, because image assets aren't needed for the UI. Years ago, that folder might have had dozens of hundreds of images when everything was skeuomorphic and custom.

The reasons are real but I hope that in the future we'll find a way to scale skeuomorphic designs nicely. I think we will go back to skeuomorphism if VR ever goes mainstream.

Thank God flat design became a thing and I don't need to watch at this abomination icons anymore

go back to India.

no thanks, i love it here

the left button looks like something an 80 yo grandpa would click and get a virus
get with the times, user
3d design is garbage

>3d design
>virus

you sound like a grandpa

it's either flat design or virus advocation
pick one

LOL ZOOMER KID WASN'T EVEN BORN WHEN SKEUOMORPHISM WAS RELEVANT.

based

Skeumorphism is shit

I like flat because big breasts get saggy
Besides that, flat icons are easer to combine with minimalist and light-weight designs, which is what I like. In general I do not like superfluous attempts at being realistic, why should my computer’s icons be limited by real-life?
Plus, I do not like the rounded aesthetic of old icons, they look like plastic toys

It never was

It was mainstream at one point. Does not mean it was good but it was relevant to ui design

Not to good UI design

What icon set is that? Wow, it's beautiful.

It's not from an iconset sadly, it's an old Mac application from 2008

Did some searching.

App was Process3.

Also, found pic related. Ah well.

Skeuomorphism is by far the best UI design style.

Is Luna material or skeuomophism?

How the fuck is a glossy green button a skeuomorphism?

OP only wants to feel special for it's peculiar tastes

Because real buttons are glossy and green.

Modern web design looks like a roadkilled paint set.

iOS used to look great

Left is just retarded, and skeumorphism is dumb, but flat is dumb too often. The problem is it can become hard to distinguish what is and isn't a clickable element. Older GUIs made this obvious with their button styling. Flat design can still achieve this, but in the hands of an artless moron it just makes things frustrating. I still have a hard time navigating fucking discord for this reason. What a piece of shit.

Skeumorphism is literally made for boomers who can't into technology

Skeuomorphic design is fucking ugly.

Actual autism.

Isn't it interesting how it's the dumbest people that always call everyone/everything else dumb?

Isn't it interesting how some people make a passive-aggressive remark in the manner of a woman rather than making a clear point?

Procedural is better than image based UI design. It's more consistent and modular. If you want a theme you can change a handful of variables an viola a dark theme. With images you have to boot up Photoshop and make buttons and pixel slices, optimize shit and so on.

I was actually really clear in how I conveyed my point. Also you just parroted what I said which shows a lack of creativity. You are basically a hairs breadth away from full NPC status.

Wow it did look better.
I hate google's material design.
Go check mdn, firefox or microsoft. So much better than what google's search pages look like. Search result is a card so much visual bloat.

Is this ironic? The design language of the infographic itself is minimalist.

When will you fags worry about function over fashion. Who gives a literal fuck what the button looks like.

Here's a clear point for you: the surest sign of an NPC is one who thinks everything is great, especially the trend du jour. My point was that the designer makes a design, and the philosophy itself. OP's image represents the worst of both worlds.

Visual is function in some cases.
Premium design is not.

So? It doesn't need to be skeuomorphic literally everywhere, idiot. Should all 2d text have a bevel effect to make it look skeuomorphic so you can't accuse any part of it of being minimalistic?

It looks more like a sidegrade to me. The real issue with iOS 7 is it killed animation speed and framerate in favor of aesthetics. I still hope apple will one day bring back iOS 6 animations and multitasking.

What?

If your point is some design language is bad you shouldn't use that design language in the infographic to make it, especially if your infographic actually looks good.

The point is OVERT usage preferencing one over the other, dumbass. Any minimalist design is going to have some degree of skeuomorphism and vice versa. Stop arguing semantics before I track you down and kick you in the fucking teeth.

Your just inserting a bunch of info into that infographic that isn't there.

It's called extrapolation, something autists have a lessened affinity for. Last post you're getting out of me.

Nah, right pic is way too busy and is actually disgusting.

You're Indian, aren't you?
