cause u gay

It barely actually writes half of it to the USB.

does RNG play a role here? like depending what's on the flash drive already (maybe in the unallocated space) write speed changes?

NTFS is fucking superior

doesn't windows keep writing the file in the background even after the transfer is "finished"?

Actually I think that must be the issue. Linux working poorly with the NTFS of my USB stick.

Nope. Linux does.

I've copied files to and from flash drives on my Windows desktop and Linux laptop simultaneously and they transferred at the same speeds.

onions

>copy large file onto flash drive using linux
>says it's done after 2 seconds
>go to unmount flash drive
>entire system freezes up for 30 minutes
>check file on flash drive on another computer
>it's corrupted
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK LINUX IS BULLSHIT CODED BY RETARDED MANCHILDREN INB4 WORKS ON MY MACHINE I DONT GIVE A FUCK IT DOESNT WORK ON MY MACHINE

You need to run the sync command in order to check if the file was really copied. It suck balls.

watch grep -e Dirty: -e Writeback: /proc/meminfo

And you need this fucking command in order to check the status of the sync.

>uses ntfs on linux
>complains about speed

use ext4 faggot
Jow Forums became fucking retarded lately

ext4 my arse, you dumb little bastard
I need to plug my USB stick in Windows machines you fucking nignog

people actually eject their usbs before they pull em out?

>I need to plug my USB stick in Windows

keep crying then, not my fault you're a fucking retard

What? No one has ever said this. NTFS has always been the worst filesystem available. it has been a point of mockery for decades. Stupid Zoomer.

Then use exFAT.

Always

10x my good bro

One thing I've noticed is that transfers of lots of small files is slow as all fuck with NTFS

>not using udf

This has been discussed before
It's not windows faster, it's Nautillius fault
Pick another file manager

Same. IIRC zero compression archiving a bunch of files into one and then copying that instead might actually be faster overall.

Use rsync and it's fine

idk about linux, but windows does write-caching by default. it can be diaabled.

Linux is a kernel.

I'll tell you that it is. Just did a dummy test to where I archived some shit, copied, and extracted. It was a few seconds faster than just copying.

Can't you just change I/O scheduler to something that doesn't clog the cache?

>Talking about filesystems
>No f2fs
Use it on all my flash stuff.

My Dick is in your moms ass.

Knock knock, bitch. It's shadow copy and first class distributed ACLs.
NTFS is long in the tooth, but it's not actually bad. It's just a bit clunky due to the dedication to legacy supoort. The only feature I'd like to see in it is support for filesystem level error correction.

>copying files to USB with a fucking kernel
This guy

>not using USB 3 in 2019
wewest

You probably weren't using NTFS like the retard OP is lmao
